I just went 2-1-2 with my old Imperial Fist List (custom traits) at Calgary Conflict and I have figured out a few problems with the list

Librarian

4 Termies with 2 AC's

3x 8 man Scout Squads with PF's

3x 6 man dev's w/ 3 M/L Infiltrate

2x speeders ac/hb

3x Whirlwinds

I found that Whirlwinds suck, they did lay down some good fire against bugs in a sustained attack mission, but overall, they were a letdown (I played guard, orks, bugs, marines, LOtD). Scouts are great when they hit HtH, and the librarian is overrated.

Here's my new list

Force Commander (termie armour)

4x Termies with 2 AC's

2x 8 man scouts w/ PF's

6 man las/plas

2x 6 man M/L dev squads inf (honour your wargear)

1x 6 man HB dev squad inf (honour your wargear)

2x speeder ac/hb

3x pred with Autocannons and HB

I was thinking about a rolling doom kinda scenario, with that much fire power being chucked downfield, most things won't be able to hold up.

Sure it's a lot of shooting, but it's a lot of shooting on vulnerable platforms. Preds AV 13 isn't bad, but LS are only AV 10, and get targeted quickly. 5 shots to shut down more than half your shooting? Yikes.

Personally, I like the whirlwinds myself. Preds are nice, but start getting expensive. Thought about vindicators with Power of the Machine spirit?

Librarian in a pod works well. Walking, not as well but still useful. For a shooty army though, the ld 10 hero does wonders for making sure your squads are shooting at what you want them to shoot at.
