i had an idea of using magnets on my different Hellhound cupolas.

but what effect would it have on the turret paint job? it's not like

i'm going to replace them 10 times a day. but it might only take

once to mess up the paint!

i was going to paint and varnish the 2 cupolas and turret seperately.

i thought maybe others that use magnets on sponsons and the like

might have some advice.

Fist off... when you assemble them, scrape/cut off a little excess to provide plenty of clearance for paint/varnish on the finished model.

Then assemble and paint as normal, just don't glue in the cupolas. When you're done, test fit the cupolas, and if the fit is too tight... take some sandpaper (or hobby knife if you're feeling cavalier) and sand (or cut/scrape) off the excess for a smooth fith that doesn't stick (so it's less likely to mar).

on the first one i've started, both cupolas have plenty of room.

they're almost too loose.

then slap another coat of varnish on the ring.
