Cities of Death p.38 "All Infantry models are equipped as combat engineers" when the Combat Engineers Strategem is in effect. "Infantry" is a specific unit type described in the BBB on page 8 and is distinct from other unit types such as Jump Infantry. Combat Engineers can only be used by "Infantry", not by "Jump Infantry", "Artillery" and so on. Units of type "Infantry" are defined in their army list entries by the Unit Type description. Codex Space Marines does not contain Unit Type descriptions so we cannot know what type of unit any SM unit counts as, other than by using common sense to interpret the codex. Conclusion: By RAW, Space Marines do not have any units of type "Infantry." They cannot use the Combat Engineers strategem.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Check the unit summary in the back of the rulebook.

"All Space marines on foot : Infantry"

Have a Space Marine on foot? He is Infantry.

Not that I don't agree that Marines on foot are infantry but if you want to get technical...

The BgB notes unit types for units that already exist at that point, codex space marines came out after the new BgB came out so wouldn't you go by the newer book which is codex space marines?

Drano doesn't exactly scream "toy" to me.

Yeah, but unless the new book contradicts the BGB, the BGB rules stand. I don't see any lists of unit types in the new SMurf 'dex - ergo, the list in the back of the BGB still applies to the new codices.
