That's... Unfortunate. This is why I don't use diamond if I can avoid it- too easy to lose.
And it's non-renewable, too. So good job. You've just reduced the world's diamond amounts by a good 30.
Use Iron, or stone, or gold if you must. Diamond is best used for enchanting tables, decoration and currency.

We find Jan's coordinates (I'm sure it's possible)
We fill in the area he was in, forcing the game to move him to the nearest applicable space- generally on top of the obstruction.
Jan reappears on top of a safety column, and survives the burning to walk away alive.
Genius, no?

Ok, after some enlightenment I can appreciate why you got agitated Mellissia. I hope things get better for you and you can live with my presence enough to still play minecraft for a bit of escapism.
