The British Army, so could be any old sh*t hole in the world.

I am putting together an alpha legion force and wanted a couple of large squads of cultists.  My drama is that "The cult champion has access to the chaos armoury." and "He may have up to ten points of items from the weapons list."

Does the above mean that he can have ten points from the weapons and more from daemonic abilities etc.

Or

He can only have ten points of weapons full stop (period for you americans)

My plan was to give him daemonic strength just to open up some nice conversion ideas.

10 points period. (full stop for you non Americans )

Remember, the armory contains daemonic abilites as well as wargear / weapons.

I don't see why he couldn't have daemonic strength or anything else under 10 points. Unless it specifically states otherwise.

No Codex on hand, but if the quote is correct ("He may have up to ten points of items from the weapons list."), then its from the weapons section and not the armoury as a whole.

10 points of weapons, that's all you get.

My mistake, yeah if it says weapons, stick to just weapons. Must stop reading posts too quickly...

Give that man a power weapon, nothing better for 10 pts

Aye, 10 points of weapons only - just enough for a power weapon, but just short of a powerfist

Also: good for you, taking multiple cultist hordes! Too often I see Legions go to war without their squishy, largely-ineffective-but-fluffy cultists, letting the hordes of infiltrating power armor do the work. This makes me sad, so I've been using a 20-strong Assassin unit and a 10-strong Scout unit. Yes, they die pretty spectacularly, but (hopefully) only after summoning a couple of daemonette units.

Speaking of daemons, any quick call on which daemons AL armies can take? Only "daemon packs" ('letters, 'nettes, 'bearers, horrors/flamers) correct? As in, no fast attak or greater daemons? I'd like to take some furies or mounted 'nettes, but the rules don't look to allow that.

The British Army, so could be any old sh*t hole in the world.

Under the daemonic beasts entry they come in "packs of 5 - 10" couldn't be easier, I'm having screamers and furies.

The entry reads "The cult champion has access to the chaos armoury. He may have up to ten points of items from the weapons list."

I think it could be read as including abilities as well.

Incorrect.

"The cult champion has access to the chaos armoury." Great, he can browse through the entire inventory.

"He may have up to ten points of items from the weapons list." Oops, he is only allowed to actually purchase items from the weapons rack. He best put that Daemonic Strength back on the shelf.

He has access to the entire armoury, but is only granted a points allowance for weapons. He has no points to spend on anything else.

Or does he have the other 65 points allowed for non-charchters? I think I probably agree with you but as usual there is ambiguity.

As much as I would love to be able to put a Teleport Homer on my Cultist Champion, most Alpha Legion players take those two sentences to mean that you can only take up to ten points of items from the weapons list.

Sorry - Mez

To answer Boss_Salvage:

You can only take Daemon Packs.  Sad but true.  (Most Alpha Legion players agree on this).  Thats okay, because when your entire army infiltrates, you don't usually need any Daemonic Beasts.

The only question that usually comes up is whether you can take Mounted Daemonettes.  That is a hard one to determine....  They are Fast Attack, but the rules say:

Mounted Daemonettes of Slaanesh may be
used by a Chaos Space Marine army or a
Lost and the Damned army, provided that
they are able to take Slaanesh Daemons. A
unit of Mounted Daemonettes takes up a
Fast Attack choice on a Force Organisation
chart.
