Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has ever tried using the old Chapter approved rules forcursed marine chapters.  Were they fun/competitive?  Can the rules still be used today?

I played Black dragons for a couple months. The list was fun, but the loss of ATSKNF was a major hinderance. More than once my units ran and I didn't have the numbers to fill the gaps in my lines.

The rules are not currently legal. Andy Hoare (sp?) has mentioned he would like to update the rules to 4th. But I wouldn't expect anything soon if ever.

On a side note... you can STILL put a Legion of the Damned squad into your marine armies, perfectly legally too.

If you happen to have WD issue 227 (yes, I said issue two hundred twenty seven), they have a chapter approved entry to use a single squad of them. Those rules were never revoked, so there you go.

Using the current codex, you'd be able to take up to three Elites choices of Legion of the Damned.

Of course, you'd still need to find two Troops choices and a HQ to make it legal - I've thought about doing this and having ghostly 'Scouts', and maybe using Vulkan to represent a LOTD character.

1500pts

Vulkan [190]

10 LOTD with Heavy Flamer, Meltagun, Sgt with Powerfist [380]
10 LOTD with Multimelta, Meltagun, Sgt with Powerfist [380]
10 LOTD with Heavy Flamer, Flamer, Sgt with Powerfist [370]

5 Scouts with Missile Launcher [85]
5 Scouts with Missile Launcher [85]

There you go - it's a rubbish army, but it's the easiest way to field ENTIRELY Legion of the Damned - and if Centurius represented Vulkan and the scouts were some sort of Zombie/Ghost/Dead marines, this might look pretty good on the tabletop...

Thread-Necromancy much?

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Misspellings? 5 year threadnomancy? Lack of capitalization and punctuation? I think we just found the apex of all posting right here, gents.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1
