Fantastic stuff. Never saw this thread before. I like the kinda drab paint style you have chosen for the Renegade Guardsmen and the Alpha Legion CSM.

I am also working on a mix of different chapters of CSM in one army just to see what it looks like. You have inspired me to add a unit of Alpha Legion!

Hello Dakka!

I'm turning this into more of a generic modelling / painting log so I can include a few other things.

First off, thank you everyone who takes the time to post a comment, no matter how brief or trivial. For those who even post constructive criticism and suggestions, you're even better. It's nice to see my work is appreciated.

...Of Nurgle Renegade Militia...

I've decided to scrape the last test model, had a think about it and decided it just didn't work hence this;

Much better do you agree?

Also, just a few distraction pieces before I fully get on with the rest of the Disciples / Veterans squad the above model belongs too.

Rogue Psyker:

(just needs a bit of reworking on the armour and basing)

Tank Commander:

...And Others...

Between paint Chaos Marines, Renegades and the like I like to dabble in some Fantasy. It's just a little something to improve my painting skills on some lovely models and also slowly aim toward my dream of having a massive nicely-painted collection for Warhammer Quest.

Here's a few I have done already;

Dark Elf Dreadlord:

Skink Priest:

Well, that's all for now. I would rather like to hear your opinions / advice / ideas and the like,
Feral

Hello again, long time no post. Thank you for the kind words people.

I haven't been idle lately, just not too productive. I do have something new to show you though.

...Malifaux anyone?...

Basically after nearly 12 years of being a GW purist, I tried something new in the form of a 32mm range called Malifaux from the company Wyrd Miniatures. For those not in the know, Malifaux is a skirmish game which blends several genres together; Victorian Steampunk, Gothic Horror and Westerns amongst others.

Alas, my first character is done.

I hope you like it, because there's more where that came from!

I've branched out into Malifaux recently too.
Really nice range of models with good detail, I look forward to painting some myself.

Thanks guys. It' a shame there isn't more into Malifaux here on Dakka.

It's pretty much the standard scheme except I changed his hair to pink and gave him eyeliner around his good eye because he's so macho.

Those are freaking cool. What line are they?

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Awesome stuff, man. Always great to see more Malifaux going on, and I love what you've done with them, the gunslinger especially. I'll be keeping an eye on your stuff, either here or on the Wyrd forums.

@Empchild, they're from Wyrd Miniatures' Malifaux line (the Outcasts subsection, to be specific). I highly recommend them, they're great minis and a great company.

Oh I haven't updated in a while, bad times.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Disjointed Entity, the Renegades are slowly receiving Nurglesque rennovating. They are going to be a slow project to do alongside other stuff. I have the older stuff to strip and redo along with some new infantry I have built more recently.

- - - - - - - - - -

First up, something I painted a while back and could not get decent photos of for some reason.

Mordheim Halfling Thief:

Next up and more up-to-date, something to give any intrepid Warriors a run for their money.

Deathmaster Snikch / WHQ Skaven Assassin:

Now for a futuristic foray into the fiddly scale AKA Epic, some Tzeentch Daemons. I had fun doing these, discovered a nice painting idea for the flesh; pale blue with glazes of the GW Purple Wash to shade.

Lord of Change:

Screamers:

I have more to do, another three stands of Screamers and six stands of the old plastic Epic Flamers. Burn.

Finally, some more Malifaux to finish off for now.

The Hanged:

Dang, I've just noticed a couple of areas on some of these that need doing / refining. Woops.

Still, I'd like to hear what you think as usual. As for next time, expect some Mad Puppet, some Weird Weird War 2 and more Malifaux too. Oh and Renegades too.

Keep it random,
Feral

A great blog of randomness. Have to say I like the Malifaux models a lot their are some hugely characterful sculps in there looking forward to more!

It is an oath we honour. Ooh a question.

The rust was done with a Devlan Mud / Macharius Orange mix, then more of said Foundation Paint watered-down. The trick is to mainly do it dripping from the rivets and crevasses.

Hello again people.

I thought I'd update with this model whilst I finish off some others as mentioned in my last post.

Scavenger Leader:

Let me just say, I love this model! It was probably the first non-GW miniature I rather liked and as such probably kicked off my adventure into alternate lines.

Having said that, it did take me three attempts to get the flesh right for some reason but persistence won out in the end. I'm rather pleased with the mohawk, managed to blend the colours quite well I think. I also added a bit of "psycho jester" makeup to his face for character.

Comments and stuff would be nice, I'm rather pleased with how it turned out.

Thanks for reading,
Feral

I like the muted tones you use - it gives things a more realistic coloring, I feel.

Thank you Death By Monkeys! I primarily use GW Foundation Paints which I believe all have grey in them to give them that muted tone.

Anyway, you Chaos fans can all cheer now for I have updates on the Renegade Militia front.

Disciples / Veterans: (first half of the squad)

Apostate Preacher: (one of two)

Rogue Psyker: (one of two)

They look rather spiffing all together and making the place look untidy.

Till next time and some Zombies,

Here's something new for you, a pair of Sturmzombies from the game Incursion!

Sturmzombie 2:

I have another two to do in the meantime, but I would like to expand them with some converted ones sometime in the future as well.

I also got my hands on some modern civilian zombies from Studio Miniatures recently, and am assembling them too (need to wait for supplies and resin bases though).

Ya try going up a layer or two more. Or even a yellow or green in the eyes as a tint would help make them show more.

I like your painting style, makes the models look dirty, but at the same time you got cleanliness on the armor of the chaos marines. Fits in very well because I doubt that traitors would get the nice clean uniforms.
