Make it happen, get that army done!

BrainDeleted wrote:Whew, they look like they've been to hell and back.

This is what Iron Hands should look like!

The only part I'm not absolutely astounded by is the dread inspired lower chassis for those Sternguard. They look a spot too...Dread leggy for me. That said, I don't dislike them at all, I'm neutral. I just think you should spread them throughout your army so all the cybernetics look more ad-hock and individualistic!

I find that reaction a lot, people either or them. I actually rarely/never use my sternguard as a unit, instead spreading them throughout my army as sergeants with combimeltas.

I would like to spread that conversion type through the rest of the army, too, but found that the custom built legs end up being 'true scale,' and look weird on random tac marines (who's the big guy?).

Best, Klaus.

Can we have an army family photo? I'm a fan of steampunk and of Vulkan with MotF, so this army just blew my mind.

Not literally, since I can still type and all but there are metaphorical nuclear bombs on my mind right now. My mind is a nuclear holocaust.

I need a bigger lightbox... lol.

My gaming table is at my parents' house (I've since moved out of state) but maybe I can find a local club to 'donate' their table for a photoshoot...

Why not? You can all have an army photoshoot or something. Only instead of super models you get to shoot... miniature models!

Okay that wasn't very funny, heartserenade.

I'm green with envy at these! This definately motivates me to stop procrastinating working on my army lol.

Unlike most of the others, I really like the legs on your Sternguard. The aesthetic of your work exemplifies just how extreme the Iron Hands really are.

You make a valid point... maybe once I finish the army I'll take that group shot (still have two rzrbacks and 4 skimmer crews).

Klaus, still loving your work. My IH force is coming along, I have a few takers for the Great Council.

Sure you don't want your clan in here?

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

Cool! I did add my clan leader (Iron-Commander Vaarkul of Clan Sorrgol) but realized I can't add my photos until I actually upload them to the dakka dakka gallery (no external linking). Once I have a change to do that I'll add them, but I am a bit short on time at the moment. :-p

NO Problem, I have jazzed it up a bit with some Iron Hands illustrations. Add whatever you want whenever you see fit, I'll keep the whole article homogeneous by formatting it all together.

One thing on the page that is bothering me is the quote, "Iron Within, Iron Without." This is actually the Iron Warrior's battle cry and is utter HERESY!

OMG I have just found an Alpha Legionnaire hiding within the IRON HANDS. Turns out there was a typo in the assignments pool, he's supposed to be infiltrating the Iron Warriors. Good Spot or otherwise we would have had this scum, living amongst us.

He has been.....administratively dealt with.

Absolutely SICK army! You've done a fantastic job of converting each marine and vehicle into a unique personality. Great job on the weathering, I LOVE to see battle-scarred, gritty and dirty looking marines.

Your army looks like a techno-gothic nightmare. The skull headed flying baby thing is creepy. Love the dreadnoughts especially the riflemen.

I would have added dozer blades or siege shields to the vindicators for aesthetic reasons, and some of the bionic legs look too stick like, but other than that this is one hell of an army.

Pat yourself on the back, you deserve it!

Amazing conversion work by far the best looking Marines i've seen on Dakka. The legs on the sternguard I am actually a fan of they go well with the cybernetic/bionics theme of your army!

Keep up the good work!

It would be sooooo cool. I mean seriously, let's take a look:

1st Founding Chapters who have dedicated codices:
DA, BA, SW

2nd Founding Chapters who have dedicated codices:
BT

1st Founding Chapters who have special characters (to fit their play style) in the SM codex:
Ultramarines, Imperial Fists, White Scars, Raven Guard, Salamanders

2nd Founding Chapters who have special characters (to fit their play style) in the SM codex:
Crimson Fists

So, let's take a look at which chapters are playable (come with their own character):

First Founding:

I: Dark Angels: Codex DA
II: N/A
III: Emperor's Children: Codex CSM (Lucius or Legions, possibly)
IV: Iron Warriors: Codex CSM (not as much, anymore)
V: White Scars: Codex SM (Kor’sarro Khan)
VI: Space Wolves: Codex SW
VII: Imperial Fists: Codex SM (Captain Lysander of the Imperial Fists)
VIII: Night Lords: Codex CSM (not as much, anymore)
IX: Blood Angels: Codex BA
X: Iron Hands: Nothing.
XI: N/A
XII: World Eaters: Codex CSM ( Kharn or Legions, possibly)
XIII: Ultramarines: Codex SM (Marneus Calgar, Cato Sicarius, Tigurius, Cassius....this codex is essentially dedicated to them)
XIV: Death Guard: Codex CSM (Typhus or Legions, possibly)
XV: Thousasnd Sons: Codex CSM (Ahriman or Legions, possibly)
XVI: Sons of Hours: Codex CSM (Abaddon or Legions, possibly)
XVII: Word Bearers: Codex CSM (not as much, anymore)
XVIII: Salamanders: Codex SM (Forgefather Vulkan He’stan)
XIX: Raven Guard: Codex SM (Kayvaan Shrike, Captain of the Raven Guard)
XX: Alpha Legion: Codex CSM (not as much, anymore)

So seriously, wtf.

This sums my Opinion up entirely, I think given GW's Habit of every other Codex Release being a Marine Codex, we may just get it.

I would like to see the Entire Force Structure turned on it's head, so you could take Dreads as Troops for example and Techmarines as Veteran Sgt's. Plus teminator Armour all over the place, so "Termie Techmarines with a Heavy Weapon Harness/Conversion Beam?" It would give Techmarines a 5+ Inv. Equally, Iron Fathers and Libby's only as HQ's, no 1st Company and lots of options for Vehicles and free upgrades, free extra Armour? or Locator Beacons fitted as standard to every vehicle, allowing Deepstrikes to be accurate, but no Termie Squads to even it out. Maybe, all vehicles get an Immobilised repair rule, on a roll of 6 on a D6. For gods Sake, all BA Tanks are FAST!!!

EDIT - Ooooh, how about, get this....Tech Guard Allies....Leman Russ's and IG options as TechGuard Allies?
