Why bother with all this survivalist lark, the uncertainty, the fear, the trepidation.
Go out and get bit, sit down and sweat it out for a bit, and then chill undead style. Its hakuna matata but with 100% less annoying soundtrack.
You make a good point Orlanth, however I have one of those dip gak Alpha male personalities that insist I "grapple" no matter how much sense "giving up" would make.
Besides that...I'm reasonably certain none of you would taste too good, no matter how much hot sauce I dumped on y'all.

You can get tracers from a lot of sources. Whoever is the contractor for Lake City right now sells them (Federal I tink). Winchester sells 9mm tracers (AT4 training round overrun) and I've seem them in various other less obvious cals.

-Motorcycle leathers, helmet and gloves. You're invulnerable!
-Remlin .22lr (Marlin's now owned by Remington) with 25 round magazines and nice scope.
-5,000 rounds of .22 LR of whatever manufacture your Remlin prefers (mine like Federal)
-Hunting stick tripod so you don't have to muck about laying down.
-Case of beer in portable cooler. Can also be used as a "shooting platform" (aka chair).
You're ready to go.
Are you talking about a Glendfield or whatever they call the M25 now.
Are we talking a zombie list were money is no object?
M25? not ure what you're referring to. I have Sean of the Dead on my brain and I keep thinking you're talking about a British freeway.
I'm thinking available cash capacity, but thats just me with my list above. I just need the riding gear and the hunting stick tripod.
When people (used) to say Marlin 22 they meant the M25
And when they said Glenfield they meant the M60, the mag fed marlin is just a Glenfield without the tube.
The reason I ask cost is because in the real world 22lr makes a ton of sense economically, but if I knew zomblieland was coming I'd spring for a pair of Volquartsons. Primarily in 22WMR. Carry the same amount as 22lr with more range, and flatter tragectory. The second one in 22 for scrounging. But at a base cost of 1200...I don't need or want a VQ.

Gotcha. I'm generic on the Remlin (I like Remingon and Marlin, but I just like typing Remlin). Any good .22 with a larger mag capacity works, which does limit it slightly. I don't like Ruger .22s as their accuracy is poor relative to Remlins.
I'm a cheap 795er, with a scope on it that cost 2x as much as the rifle.

It was actually supposed to be for the wife, but her reply in essence was "thats great but I like your Beretta 92 more. I'll just shoot that"

Marlins are generally cheaper than 10/22s also. The rotary magazine is nice, but it doesn't justify the cost.
I wish the AR-7 didn't suck so much, because I love the idea of it. It would definitely be my shtf rifle. I admit I just watched From Russia With Love..

Absent a major scope there's no point in Frazzled spending more than that anyway. My eye sight is crapaola at that point.
I'm content with being able to rapid fire an iron sighted M1 carbine at 25 yards and shoot the .22LR at 25 or 50 yards.
I'd like to get a 30-06 but thats about the extent of usefulness for me (as it would require a scope larger than a VW bus for me to use). Curse you father time!

Fixed 10x old man. I shoot mine futher than I'd like to admit. Realistically a FFP 3x9 is Ideal in Zombieland.
I ripped the scope off my 10-22 last year and havent shot it since. You just reminded me to buy tech sights.
