Update #21: Adding up points!

Hi there!

A lot of people asked how can they add some more points to their pledges. We decided to put a small update regarding only this issue.

The 50 points for 4£ can be chosen multiple times (100 points for 8£, 200 points for 16£ etc.). Also, if you like to add even more points to your pledge you can choose multiple pledges and sum up the costs, for example:

Q: I need 7050 points, how can I get them?

A: You choose the 4700 points pledge, the 2300 points pledge and 50 points add - on and sum up the cost = 245£ + 123£ + 4£ totaling 372£. Then you pledge for the chosen amount selecting the highest pledge as your "pledge selection".
Stay tuned, as there are rumors that some Sons of Kashan Vra will show their corrupted faces today.

Update #22: Avatars and forum banners!

Hi folks!

We prepared an avatar and banner you could use to spice up your profiles and proudly display you're a supporter of Metal Beards! Check them out:

Avatar

Banner

You can download them by clicking the link below:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/j5lvgu9lzf5iwre/metalbeards.rar

So download the avatar and banner and wear them with pride! You could also grow a beard to make it even more badass. It's an option. Beards are cool.

Update #23: Sons of Kashan Vra Dread Reapers are ready to charge!

Hi there!

A little delayed, the fearsome Dread Reapers finally arrived! Their weapon of choice is a massive, two - handed scythe. Those corrupted blades, known as "Reapers" (hence the name), are almost unstoppable. They can effotlessly cleave in half fully armoured opponent in a blink of an eye. But even the best blade can do nothing without it's master. And Dread Reapers are real virtuosos of their craft. Skilled both on the offensive as on the defensive, they are a terrifying opponents to face. They march, ever forward, their "Reapers" striking rapidly and without pause. After the battle, you can easily track where the Dread Reapers charged - bodies cleaved in half, limbs cut off, and a stench of death - those marks can't be confused with anything else.

As you can see, they indeed look like dread incarnate! To tell you the truth, one of our favourite piece of the Sons of the Kashan Vra are their chain beards. Beards are cool. But chain beards - that's new level of cool. And it's great that this idea was proposed by you our backers and supporters! That's the crowdfunding at it's finest!

With the Dread Reapers revealed, we would like to inform you about our plans and decisions for incoming units and add - ons.

1. There will be upgrade set including different weapons choices in form of an Add - on.
The point cost is still being discussed, but the quantity will propably 10 pieces per upgrade set.

2. Elite infrantry models (40 mm square bases) will be available for both Metal Beards and Sons of Kashan Vra ranges.
The models will be quite different, so we decided to give each range a proper unit instead of one kit for both ranges. We can already give you a little spoiler - the Metal Beards elite infrantry suit will wield a massive drill as one of it's weapons. That's an idea we got from one of our backers - drills FTW!

3. Infernal Golem of Kashan Vra will be exclusive for Sons of Kashan Vra range.
Thats propably bad news for some of our backers. We had a long and thourough discussion about it and finally we came to one conclusion. That doing one kit, fitting both ranges would compromise the final appearance of the model. And we certainly can't do that, as we wish that the Infernal Golem to be on par with other our similar products - Drakskull on Throne of Death and Undead Wyvern. Also, we thought about the solution similar to the elite infrantry unit mentioned in point 2. However, creating two models the size of Infernal Golem would take a lot of time - and in result - delays. And we wouldn't wish to make you wait for the miniatures longer than necessary. Also, we think that the model itself should be fairly easy to convert.

As always, let us know what are your thoughts, and leave a comment!

Update #24: Iron Catapult WIP and Sons of Kashan Vra news!

Hi folks!

Long awaited udate for Metal Beards!
Straight from our forges, second warmachine of the Metal Beards, the deadly Iron Catapult! It's in the final stages of design, but if you compare it to the Dread Cannon, you can see some pieces are still missing. But the Iron Catapult should be ready to fire in no time, so don't despair!

Hope you like it. We should see some more Metal Beards flavour in next few days!

And here's something for Sons of Kashan Vra fans - a quick description of some of the incoming units!

Dread Guard

Dread Guard create a backbone of Sons of Kashan Vra. Corrupted beyond recognition, they are known for their unstoppable assault. It is rumored, that each shield carried by the Dread Guard is inhabitated with a portion of Kashan Vra soul. There might be some truth behind that, as the shields quickly reforge themselves in the image of screaming demonic face. But even more dreadfull is fact, that they can’t be penetrated or broken. Every blade either bounce harmlessly from it, or even shatter if the blow is too strong. Truly, the futile attempt to break Dread Guard instill terror in hearts of the enemies of Sons of Kashan Vra.

Dread Tormentors

They are the definition of brutality. Swift charges followed by utter carnage are their speciality. Launching themselves in the middle of enemy line, they slay any opponent that stand their way. Where Dread Guard are masters of precision strike, the Tormentors are masters of slaughter. It matters not if their opponents outnumbers them, if they are encircled, or if there is no chance of winning – they fight for the sake of killing. And they elevated killing to the state of art – at least in their corrupted minds! It is the bravest of soldiers who can stand they ground seeing the Dread Tormentors charging and howling with their two weapons rised. The bravest, or the most desperate. For Dread Tormentors are the avatars of slaughter.

Dread Eviscerators

Although Sons of Kashan Vra relish in the art of close combat, and prefer to have a good look on their opponents right before delivering the last strike, they don’t disregard the firepower and the profits it brings. Dread Eviscerators are maybe the most dangerous of the Sons of Kashan Vra. They combine the heavy armour with the terrible might of a blunderbuss. They prefer to engage their targets on medium or close ranges, when their lack of accuracy is balanced with the wide arc of fire. Blunderbusses also lack penetration – but Sons of Kashan Vra remedy this by channeling the energy of the crystals. Augumented by the corrupted force, the ammunition penetrates armour with ease. If the armour withstand the impact, it’s often irrelevant, because the wide spray of the blunderbuss can hit the exposed part of the target – and if it does – it’s usually over.

Dread Eliminators

Dread Eliminators are a combined force unit. Their rifles are accurate and deadly on long ranges, but their bayonets are equally dangerous. Long Range support units tend to be very prone to close combat fights, and usually succumb to more melee oriented units. But not the Eliminators. They can provide the fire support exactly where needed, quick, efficient and accurate. But if the situation arises – they quickly heft their weapons and meet their opponents head – on. They often confuse their enemies with their eagerness to engage in melee – instead of simple target, the foolish opponent is faced by well prepared close combat specialists. The death comes swiftly – in form of a bullet or a sharp blade of bayonet.

Chosen of Kashan Vra

A rare sight on a battlefield, Chosen of Kashan Vra are even considered to be only a legend, but some claim that they saw them on their own eyes, and that they survived the day, was a lucky quirk of fate. But Chosen of Kashan Vra are no myth or legend. They are real and they are dread incarnate. It is true, they seldom join the battle, but when they do – Sons of Kashan Vra emerge victorious. Giant suits of corrupted armour, they are attached to different units to augment overall combat abilities of the unit, and inspire them to fight even harder. Sometimes, they are combined into units, to create heavy line breaker force, capable of overcoming every obstacle. They are often ravaged by corruption, but the dark energies lock inside keep them fighting despite their appearance. They are Chosen of Kashan Vra, and by their fury his will be done!

Hope you like it! As always, comments and opinions are welcome!

All the updates are here, but I don't feel it's necessary to copy / paste ones like "forum avatars / banners added" . Was coming to post the next two but got beaten to the punch. Be thankful for what you have, Alph

Btw, are you getting in on this a little bit, or still deciding? If more news were leaking about the dwarf book coming next month it would probably give this a boost. Still almost to 20k, though! With just over a week to go yet (and hopefully a surge to match, which I think is likely).

And right now, I'm in on this for a small amount.

Do we know what base size the standard miniatures are?

I'm thinking of making the $90 pledge just to get all my warmachines from there. The cannon and catapult look really interesting; I'm willing to bet the gatling gun will be cool, too.

Haha...this is so bad of me, but I wish the GW Dwarf book were already out so I could tailor what I wanted to pledge based on what I would want to play out of the book.

Standard base size is 20mm. And since you pledge for "credit" to apply to models, and the pledge manager won't be finalized until after the book hits, you can apply your credit to the best units in the new book

Metal Beards firepower and more lore of the Kashan Vra.

Hi folks!

Today we need YOUR opinion for one of our products - Steam Gatling Gun. We prepared three differents mock ups of the warmachine - YOU chose which version will be the final one! If you ask me, each one is pretty awesome (let's face it, steam miniguns? They are the definition of awesome!), but we have to pick one. Sad, but that's how it is. So, here's the good stuff...

Take a good look, and let us know which version suits your vision of Steam Gatling Gun. You can vote by picking one number from the three, and leaving a comment below, or in the comments section. Since we're short on time, let's say we will pick the final version on monday! Release the bullet storm!

Number 2 option all the way for me

Here's the lore from the update, I'm going to spoiler it as it's a bit long:

Spoiler:
Second part of the update will be covered by more lore of the Sons of the Kashan Vra. Next updates will be a big ones for the corrupted beardies, but before that, we want to let you know something more about the history and lore background of our project.

Malichim the Betrayer

Apostle of Kashan Vra, The Archtraitor, Voice of the Mountain, Savior. Malichim has many titles, but he is best known as the Betrayer, although Malichim prefers calling himself a Savior. However, there was a time, that Malichim was a respected member of his clan and wore a title of Master Forger – but dark fate was awaiting him.

Mother of the Mountains is very old and large. It was inhabited by dwarves for centuries – it is said that the race of the Mountain Dwellers were living there from the beginning of the world. Vast halls and long tunnels were made in the depths of the Mother of the Mountains – some of the chambers are equal in size to great forests of the Realm. The underground cities are a awe – inspiring sight, palaces and forges, fountains and squares, walls and markets – everything carved in stone, ornamented and incrusted with gold and silver. And Malichim was one of the forge smiths that took active role in creating those wonders. But he was hungry for knowledge – he always wanted more, wanted to go deeper, wanted more space for creating his miracles of craftsmanship. This thirst eventually caused his downfall.

Ages before current era, the great Ancestor Lords of Dwarves from the Mother of Mountains made a grim discovery. Mining deeper and deeper, ever widening their kingdom, they unearthed a primal evil. They rushed back in a hurry, and after reaching the border cities of their clans, they claimed the lower levels and corridors of the mountain are prohibited, and destroyed all entrances, thus sealing the danger forever. That’s what they thought. Long after that they passed into myth, and their rules become a faint memory, then legend. Ancestors never speaked what was discovered deep in the caverns, but the frightened and concerned look on their faces were speaking for themselves – whatever they discovered was very dangerous. But even this warning slowly transformed into nothing more than a fable, a scary one, but still only a fable.

Malichim grew uneasy day by day. He was never satisfied by his works, he felt hollow, he ventured alone deep into long forgotten corridors. Then, on one fateful day, he and almost half of his clan disappeared. Search party was quickly dispatched, but came back to his hometown empty handed after few weeks of careful search. They found only one thing - one of the Forbidden Tunnels entrances was broken open. Malichim and other who were lost were mourned, but as the time gone by, they were eventually forgotten. With the Forbidden Tunnel open however, the missings grew more often – dwarves ventured there to search for wisdom, riches, or just out of curiosity. The quiet calm of the folk of the Mother of Mountains was coming to an end.

After few years of unrest, finally the Forbidden Tunnel revealed his secret. Rank after rank, Sons of Kashan Vra, as they were later known, spilled to their former homeland. They razed the border town to the ground, there was no survivors. At the head of this terrible force stood Malichim the Betrayer. Infused with great, unknown power, he screamed words of prophecy, heralding eternal doom of the dwarven race.

If you like the short stories about the Metal Beards and Sons of Kashan Vra also let us know! Maybe we will expand it a bit to create a full grown lore!

Anyone heard if they are doing a pledge manager that you can add funds too? Currently trying to get some stuff sold as I'd like to go in in a big way but just don't have the full amount as it stands.

That's a good question, Hulk. I know they'll have to have a manager where you allocate your points, but whether you can add more or not after the fact, I'm not sure.

Did anyone back their prior campaigns / know if they had an add-on option for those?

I believe I read on their page that you can just add additional pledge amounts. So, for example, if you'd made the $90 pledge, you could follow it up with another $50 pledge, and have the aggregate benefit from both.

Nothing firm, but from from the comments

Edited question post:

Just to try to get it out of the way since I'm sure it will come up... Will there be an option to add funds during the survey, after the KS has technically ended?

Creator Titan-Forge @WaaarghPug we did these for indiegogo backers, but we don't know if it's possible for kickstarter platform. But we will talk about it and post some info soon.

so they did it before, so my guess is they'll do it again (but no guarantees)

Nice, it's clear of that goal (20k). Just waiting for the update.

So far in the gatling gun poll, #2 is winning by a lot. But a few have suggested #2 with the gunner position of #3, which is an interesting idea!

I didn't see them confirm that you can add on after the fact yet (although may have missed it). Seems likely, though.

Update #26: 20 000 pounds pledge unlocked!

Hi folks!

Yesterday we reached 20 000 £ stretch goal. Thanks to you and your support. Seriously guys & gals, thank you. You were giving us your ideas, and keeping us informed about what you would like to see from the beginning of this campaign, and this is really appreciated!

We're preparing an interesting update for you, one you should like! Rumor says, that maybe, the Infernal Golem will show his ugly face! Also, we have some big info about the stretch goals (there will be some reorganising, but you should like it, so no worries!). This will be a big one, so we need one more day to prepare it - but it's sure worth waiting, believe me!

Also, the FAQ section was updated, be sure to check it out!

Since the Malichim the Betrayer had his moment of glory, we decided that we should also have some other characters appear with their stories. So, behold the Asarhaddon the Loremaster...

Asarhaddon the Loremaster

Asarhaddon is one of the most infamous of the Sons of Kashan Vra. None can count his vile deeds, none can perceive his treacherous manipulations, and none can withstand the sorcerous onslaught he unleashes on the field of battle. Many are his sins, but the greates of all is the corruption of the Temple of Ancestors, once most sacred of all shrines, now nothing more than place of terror, darker than night itself.

Like Malichim, he once belonged to the folk that lived in the Mother of the Mountains for countless years. Unlike the Lord of Terror, he was a dark personality from the beginning. He belonged to one of the most powerful dwarf clans, similar to human aristocracy. He received careful teachings, his thirst for knowledge was never satisfied though, and he quickly surpassed his mentors. His knowledge was immense, and he would be a great asset to the any craft he would dedicate himself to. But this was not his intent.

His pride was even bigger than his knowledge. He despised those who helped creating the great kingdom of dwarves, he despised those who came to him for aid, he even despised his own clan family. He thought that there was no one who could be his equal. Even the great kings of old was deemed by him as unworthy their position.

Dark whispers started to haunt him in his sleep. Promises of power and knowledge beyond his wildest dreams, promises of greatness that could surpass the legends of the Ancestors. This dark dreams, by a strange quirk of fate, were coupled with the disappearance of Malichim and large part of his clan. He eagerly joined the search party, the fact that surprised many of the dwarves – Asarhaddon never committed himself to any task. But none grew suspicious, as the terror of the Kashan Vra was unknown to them at the time. And Asarhaddon founded what he was looking for. The Forbidden Tunnels were open. He took his time to prepare for the journey, and only few days later, he took the path to his destiny and entered the dark corridors where Malichim disappeared, and thus, sealed his fate.

He embraced the transformation to Son of Kashan Vra with open heart and mind, for he knew what was waiting for him from his dreams. He gained forbidden knowledge, learned the dark invocations, performed the demonic rituals. This dedication was well rewarded. Now, Asarhaddon the Loremaster, was ready to let the world know his power.

Temple of the Ancestors was a sacred place. Statues of kings from the ages past were standing proudly, row after row of sculpted images of the forebearers. Dwarves took a long pilgrimages to this holy place, to pay their homage to their past kings, and to thank for the years of prosperity they were experiencing now. On one day, dark and hooded person stood in the great doors of the Temple of the Ancestors. Throwing his hood back, he revealed himself. Asarhaddon the Loremaster arrived to do his first, and some say the most horrific deed. Gathering all his magical power, he casted a spell of terrible might. Statues of the kings started to move, they appearances changing to reflect demonic masters, which Asarhaddon now served. Doors to the temple were shut so no one could escape their dark fate. Demonic statues begin the slaughter, killing the pilgrims with no mercy. And Temple of the Ancestors was always crowded, and being a massive building, none could count how many dwarves lost their lives on that fateful day.

Ever since, the ruined temple is cursed. Dark voices whisper between the statues, which eyes are ever open, ever watchful. Those who ventured inside – never returned. Asarhaddon disappeared again, only to join with Malichim the Betrayer. He is the Loremaster of the Sons of Kashan Vra, and indeed, he is the master of craft he dedicated himself to – a craft of corruption and death.

Hope you like this story as well. Be sure to leave a comment below, and even more important, be sure to check with us tommorow for some really good stuff.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Update #27: Infernal Golem first appearance! Sons of Kashan Vra rejoice!

Hi folks!

It's a big one. Literally! Infernal Golem of Kashan Vra is here and he is ready to rumble. As you can see from a Concept Art below, he is one badass monster. And he will be huge. Throne of Death size, or even bigger! And he has a chain beard. Can you feel it? Massive chain beard, how cool is that?

What's more to say? Four massive axes, horns, chain beard, vents, giant shoulderpads. Can it be better? There is a slight drawback though. This miniature will be massive. Like, really massive. The small silhouette near the leg of the Infernal Golem is almost in scale with this pretty boy. Unfortunately it means it will be a little more expensive in points. But just look at him, he is well worth every point you spend on it! And we know what we're talking about!

IMPORTANT NEWS - THE STRETCH GOALS HAS BEEN CHANGED!

With the few changes we did to the stretch goals, we have very good news for all of you. Most of the stuff we talked about until now will be done on 20 000 pounds stretch goal. It means, that actually you get much more already! Just check the lists! Chosen of Kashan Vra, almost all warmachines, Ancestral Guardians (elite infrantry for Metal Beards) - all will be done on 20 000 pounds stretch goals. We thought, hell, our backers and supporters deserve to have all of this already unlocked, so let's just do it! This means, that only few products are left to unlock, mainly the Hell Bulldozers (cavalry unit), and Ancestral Zeppelins. Pretty cool eh? But check it yourself!

As you can see, there is a lot of stuff that is already unlocked.

AND HERE'S ONE FOR METAL BEARDS FANS!

We casted few beta sets of the Metal Beards Anvilborn Warriors and sent them to different blogs and vlogs for a quick review, and so it happens, that we just received info about one of such reviews being already done! Here's the link to the website:

http://www.akibastation.es/2014/01/wargames-review-de-metal-beards.html

As we said, it's a beta version, so unfortunately no bases for the moment, but they already being done, so no worries! The blog is in spanish, but just google translate it and it should be alright!

As always - feel free to comment and leave your opinion in the comments section!

Love the Infernal Golem concept art! Could work excellently as a K'daii Destroyer, even has the bull look to it

That size comparison photo is interesting, but they have the dwarf on a 25mm round, when they really have to squeeze onto a 20mm square. So, the dwarf couldn't be much wider (it may already be pushing it for ranking up!) and, as a dwarf, couldn't very well be much taller either . I quite like it. A refreshing change from dwarfs that basically are ball-shaped

Update #28: Eviscrators and Eliminators! And a list of add - ons!

Hi folks!

We're working very hard now, and we will be able to show you a new concept art or 3D render every day, so be sure to check with us daily! The Infernal Golem collected a lot of love from you guys & gals, and remember - it is your idea made present. Pretty cool.

Today however, there is even more Kashan Vra goodness. Dread Eviscerators followed closely by Dread Eliminators. Check them out!

As you can see, the Dread Eviscerators are geared with rather big and cumbersome blunderbussess, which gives them their unique look. All the Kashan Vra goodness still remains, so chain beards are also present. They look pretty mean and they mean business!

And the Dread Eliminators. Their weapons look really great with the double bayonet blades mounted on front, and additional blade on the blunt of the rifle. It's really cool how their weapons separate those two choices from each other, with Eviscerators looking more "in your face", and Eliminators being the fire support.

We also prepared a list of add - ons that will be available for you. You can find most of the stuff you wished for added, with weapon upgrades sets and heroes bundle! Check them out, those add - ons should really help you with completing your force.

We also added a new stretch goal for 25k, it's pretty nice! Now you have something to look for!

Pretty nifty eh?

We'll also add a skirmish bundle, more detailed info will be available tommorow!

As always, leave a comment below, and be sure to check with us tommorow. I think I saw something like Ancestral Guardians taking shape today...

Update #29: Cloud Smashers and Ancestral Guardians... population of Metal Beards fans increases!

Hi folks!

Time for some dwarven love! And we have some fine stuff to show you today!

First of all are Cloud Smashers. We decided to add them to the infrantry choices for Metal Beards after some cool discussions on our facebook page. The jet pack infrantry is in great esteem in gaming comunity, and is somewhat iconic. We took our chance to play a little with this concept, as we've done in the past (undead orcs and zomblins for example), and we re - shaped it in our way. Therefore, we created robotic steampunk dwarves hopping around on jet packs, and while doing it, smashing some skulls!

And a little bonus...

Pretty cool stuff - dwarves on jump packs AND wielding two runic hammers - just mean!

But there's more. Ancestral Guardians, the myth, the legend, the awesomeness. When you need to show your opponent who has got a bigger beard, they are the only choice. Mounted on 40 mm square bases, having a possibility to assembly your model with masked or unmasked head, with additional weapon options (you can swap the drill for shield or second hand weapon) - they are the foebreakers.

The similar options will be available to Sons of Kashan Vra also, so don't be too jealous!

STEAM GATLING GUN vote has ended. Most of you vote option number 2 (twice the guns, twice the awesome!), but a lot of folks also liked option number 3. We want to satisfy either side, so we went for option 2 BUT you will be able to assembly the gun with gunner either in front of the guns, like presented on picture, or in the back of the guns, like on option 3. How's that?

Also we received another review from our friends back in Germany. They also did excellent work, and painted the miniatures very fast - but with great effect! Be sure to check it out!

I really hope they'll be able to allow post-end date continued contributions by people who supported the kickstarter. I'd be happy to keep throwing money at them as it came available in my budget.

Locking in these prices for backers would be nice. I'm just getting a squad to play around with, but I'm thinking about playing fantasy again and would love an army of these guys somewhere soon up the road

We'll also add a skirmish bundle, more detailed info will be available tommorow!

Have they made good on that yet? I figured it'd mean a bunch of different single models more suited to, say, mordheim-ish games (turns out there's actually an active group around here, supposedly - that might make me keep my pledge in!)?

Is it actually written anywhere on their KS page, when it is they'll fulfill everything? I'm sure it's somewhere obvious but I've totally missed it...?

Underneath all the pledge levels on the right hand side

It says April/May 2014

(I'd say that's nigh on impossible, but I don't have real feel for how late it might be as they do a lot in house which cuts down on the potential problems)

I knew it'd be somewhere fairly obvious! Cheers!

Yeah, with how well it's done, I think at least these recent unlocks will not be able to be shipped by then. Thinking summer for the characters I've pledged for, hopefully.
