Anyway, the power of everything in the setting goes up and down at the will of the writer. A single Space Wolf defeated Magnus twice in the Bill King´s series.

But we are talking about height.

I still think it goes like:
Astartes: 7,5"
Alpharius 8,5" (a foot over an Astartes, according to IA)
Average Primarch: 10". The Lion in DoA, Alpharius near Horus in IA...
Magnus: 12"? Not counting the "now I use the Warp and I look like a mountain" time.

Magnus, deliberately appearing in his original form, was 16.5' in Battle of the Fang.

It's stated in Burning of Prospero that Russ swells in size to meet his opponent.

It's either latent warp ability or heat ... hot things expand

On average between 2.5 metres to around 3.5 metres at most...Magnus was reported to have been a Giant even for a Primarch...while Apharius/Omagon could have passed for a regular marine. Marines in General were around 2 to 2.5 metres.

"You strive for victory. That is obvious. What may be less obvious is the nature of victory. There are circumstances in which you can destroy the enemy utterly, without loss to your own forces, and yet the victory may be his. In all situations, you must first decide on the nature of victory, and then take steps to secure it. Avoid the instinct of fight first and think later." ( Leman Russ )

Well from most drawings a Primarch is shown to be about twice the size of a regular human, so by this a Primarch would be about 11 feet on average and then the larger ones like Horus, Russ, Magnus and Vulkan.

The people next to Guilliman and Sanguinius could have been a) not adults or b) abhumans

Why have none of you even considered this?

Magnus was also stated to be almost as tall as the Emperor (who was probably also guilty of the "what's my real size game" that he no doubt played through out his life and with women)

It is very true, they could have been considerably taller than normal humans. ;D

I should think of a new signature... In the meantime, have a

Magnus was stated to be taller than the Emperor, actually.

Isn't it just safe to say, Magnus is the tallest, and the twins were the shortest?

We don't have stat cards for these guys. Well; until GW starts selling them. HH pokemon style.

I'm still concerned by all this swelling that happens between Magnus and Russ.

We already know about Magnus, and I think Russ was a mighty swell guy.

That one picture of them hanging out on the Balcony leads me to believe that Angron was in fact the shortest...

The Emperor really was a huge giant. He lived in the Himalayas, he was the original Yeti/Abominal snowman!

The Alpha twins were only slightly smaller than the other Primarchs

So, what you are saying is, is that the Emperor was actually J.R. "Bob" Dobbs?

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

I think there's an easy way to get a good idea of Horus' height. Take the image below, do the green box thingy on the skulls hanging off his belt and see how many heads tall he is. Simples, except I don't know how to do it

God dammit people, spoiler your bloody pics. They break the screen.

Also, that won't work with that pic. Horus and the GEOM are standing at a cocked angle and leaning to the side.

Spoiler:

Horus' head is only about 10-20% larger than the heads hanging off his armour.

You can't really get a difference between Sanguinus and Horus, as Sanguinus actually comes out the same height as Horus by my calcs, but he's closer to the "camera" so will appear larger. Horus is 660 random units of measurement, assuming Sanguinus is lying down at a 60 degree angle from vertical and the camera is about 30 tilted downward at that point, Sanguinus is 650 random units of measurement.
