I would be very surprised if you got points for enemy units not killed by a unit with the bloodtithe rule.

The Apostle does nothing but provide Zealot. There is a reason you never saw him. The Herald does the same, plus he is a real beast in combat with a Jugger and an Axe of Khorne.

I find the possibility to join CSM/CD units huge. There are a ot lof fun combos there.

Also, min squad size of 8 for all standard units is nice. It's terrible on CSM, but why use them when you can now get 40p Cultist units and 8 Letters as Troops. That 8-sized Letter units now fits inside a Rhino or Land Raider to run with a character (Kharn would be fun here, but GW.....), which is super useful.

@Captyn_Bob: Would just be a strange thing to work out if I have two units (one with the Blood Tithe rule and one without) in close combat with the enemy and they both strike at the same time and deal an excessive amount of wounds - who killed the enemy? Also I could just use Blood Tithe units to deal the killing blows and let other units do the hard work.

@Aleinikov: Didn't know about the new minimum sized squads, are you sure about this?!

To me the Chaos Space Marines needed to be characterised as a threat reaching back to the Imperium's past, a threat which had refused to lie down and become part of history. This is in part why the gods of Chaos are less pivotal in Codex Chaos; we felt that the motivations of Chaos Space Marines should remain their own, no matter how debased and vile. Though the corrupted Space Marines of the Traitor Legions make excellent champions for the gods of Chaos, they are not pawns and have their own agendas of vengeance, empire-building vindication or arcane study which gives them purpose.

I've got the codex in hand, and a thread over here with some observations and answers about the codex.

Yes, Cultists/CSM/Bezerkers and Bloodletters are now a minimum size of 8. The minimum cost of Cultists actually went up though (58pts for 7 Cultists and a Cultist Champion), because the Mark of Khorne is priced in.
