It seems very clear to me: if a model is not in unit coherency after its forced move it suffers crunch. Splitting the unit with a tank seems like a sure way to ensure that at least some models wind up out of coherency. Only the models that are forced to move are potentially CRUNCHED.
I'm not aware of any interpretation of the unit coherency rule that allows a model to be in unit coherency with only part of its unit. Either the unit is in coherency or it isn't. But my understanding of the rules is not perfect, and my mind has changed on other readings of tank shock.
