Most Americans seem to pronounce it "dahka" (or "darker") instead of "dacka" (rhymes with "quacka") for some reason, much to the chagrin of us British folk...

Ah, well yes, that's how I pronounce it as well - though I've heard that the correct way is that nails-on-chalkboard "dacka" noted above.

Well, it is meant to replicate the sound of a machine gun so it should be short and sharp, like a rat-a-tat-tat.
