Thanks everyone, really appreciate your kind comments!
Continued working on the back log with a few half finished aspect warriors in the past week, but got distracted by my recent pre-order arriving. I couldn't resist the new Nekrosor Ammentar mini so decided to try and paint him up to competition level with NMM all over, I likely will regret that, but might be a fun challenge (I hope!) I did order the Winged Autarch as well whilst I was at it.
Started assembling him and spent hours removing the super fine mould lines (kit is fantastic and very minor lines) but given the profile of the spine and all his thin hoses connecting weapons to the body it is a very slow process. Currently adding sprue goo to mask up assembly gaps, but soon ready to prime the main spine.
Good news for sub-assemblers, it appears he will be unusually easy to assemble after painting since almost every arm have a single position possible with a slotted socket.
I will sneak his updates in among the Aledari as he is one of their oldest enemies anyway
Cheers,
Oskar

Jeeeeez, That would be a challenge.
Please share few in-between progress pics, I like to see how people do NMM and try to learn it.

Small update on the NMM process. I never tried NMM before on such a complex structure and the fact that it constantly twist in relation to the light makes it even harder. I think I will do small section in more extreme different angles and then use them as a guide to gradually build up the transitions. Quite pleased with the first experiment, need to smooth out blends much, sort out all edges and take notes on colours used before committing to continue all of it, but feels doable now!
I also decided to do all NMM on the spine in neutral grey scale and then possibly use inks to glaze in some interest in various areas, we will see how it goes
Here are two photos showing some initial references in angled light and three images showing the gradual process in this first experiment with actual colours. Let me know what you think!

Good start. But tnh, for such model I'll prefer zenithal, instead of suffering NMM on endless repeating elements. Of course if you wanna NMM then that is different situation

You're a lunatic to do NMM on each individual segment. Your work so far is incredible - there is no doubt you're you're going to knock this out of the park

Thanks kabaakaba and Zambro, will return to Ammentar in a bit, but got side tracked and made a quick tabletop-ready Chronomancer for a game coming up tonight. This is probably the fastest painting I ever done (and the top and the back of the green armour is not fully done yet). He was delivered on Sunday, built and primed on Monday, basecoated before work on Tuesday and then painted in about six-seven hours on Tuesday and Wednesday night. Hopefully he will thwart some Thousands Son's perspective of time tonight!
Cheers!

That is a really great chronomancer, I like the oranges you’ve used on his weapons of war, they work well against the metal. And the glow affect on them both is great as well!

Thanks guys!
The Chronomancer actually ended up being an absolute hero and winning me the game with his extra movement abilities. In the second to last turn in a game where I went second he managed to get enough of his squad onto an objective to steal it from a Daemon prince. After then being charged by the same daemon in the opponents last turn, he managed to survive and reanimate in my last turn and then gently instructed his team to fall back an inch, still holding the objective, but being safe from further melee, thereby bagging me the objective which was enough to win the whole game that otherwise was very close
I am now planning to team him up with an Overlord with Translocation Shroud who arrived yesterday and was build and base coated this morning, and in the past few days I have been messing about with a Technomancer as well. Using these minis to force myself to be more experimental with airbrushing and OSL.
I currently take part in a local game club's beginners' league, which means I try to play once a week, and have used this as an opportunity to challenge myself to finish one new mini every week for my army to learn how to paint quicker.
Cheers,
Oskar

Thanks Zambro,
I am hoping to participate in the European leg this year, but it depends a bit on the dates and how it fits into my normal work. The quality in past years have been so mind-boggling high, but based on what I heard from friends who attended just seeing entries up close and meeting the community makes it worth the trip and entry.
The extra Necrons were both finished in time for my game last week, but this time being the new boy didn't help, the Technomancer and his wraiths were taken out in turn 2, but htey were the only unit I lost in the whole game. fater that my opponent spent all his time trying to bring down the unkillable Void Dragon while I gently scored enough points, mostly holding the ground I already had so came away with a small margin on the winning side of things.
Currently working on some Cryptothralls and a Plasmancer, really enjoying working a bit faster than usual and feel it helps me speed up some of the techniques and not be afraid to experiment.
Cheers!

Thanks Meer-Cat! I am really enjoying messing about with Necrons after three years of almost only Biel-tan. Currently working on some Tesla Immortals, the one to the left is still in need of a bit of glow effects on the metal body, but very happy how these are turning out and look forward to out them on the gaming table next week.

Thanks JordySteve, the right hand guy is an Overlord with Translocation Shroud. I thought it was going to be a nightmare to paint him but the kit is incredibly well constructed meaning it is easy to paint in subassemblies for good reach. He also turns out to be an amazing asset on the table, especially when paired with the Chronomancer.
Thanks Mothsniper, trying to stick to my normal style of saturation and contrast, child of the RT/2ed era so no choice
Thanks Dysartes, really enjoying the foray into Necrons at the moment.
A few days ago I finished a first test mini for Necron Warriros, with the goal that it should be quick and have some of the classic gauss glow. Very pleased with the test sample and now just finished building and priming the other nine guys that will join him on the field. This also marks the first mini I ever painted as fully assembled and based.
Cheers,
Oskar
