And it’s a lunchtime session. Because I can. So I probably should.

Defo in the home stretch now. Tanks wise, just another 8 Vindicators to go, 7 more Whirlwinds and 8 Scorpius.

This is it! The big reveal!

16 Vindicators, 8 Scorpius, 8 Whirlwinds, 8 Saturnine Dreadnoughts, 8 Drop Pods, 8 Araknae Platforms, 6 Landraiders, 4 Dreadnought Drop Pods, 4 Mastodons, 4 Typhons, 4 Cerberus, 2 Glaives, 2 Fellblades, 2 Falchions, 2 Ascalon.

All fully painted (barring the Dreadnought bases).

Still to come, and probably this weekend’s project? 16 bases of assorted Saturnine Terminators, 2 Fire Raptors and 1 Thunderhawk.

I do indeed. Wound up with that many because I got the Saturnine set, having previously procured a box worth.

Speaking of Saturnine? Felt very in the mood, so did the Terminators.

Just a wee bit of detail to go, specifically the banner on the Command Squad, and the kilts where necessary. But first I need to remind myself what colours I used on the rest of my force.

Day 44. 13th February 2026

Getting on with the flyers. Metallica today, reddening tomorrow, I think.

An appropriate day for reddening, in theory - honouring the massacre, and all that.

Do need to retouch one of the gunships. The speed paint had pooled on the top side (must’ve left it upside down to dry after doing the underside). Careful work with a hobby knife sorted it, and just needs the merest dod to sort it.

That’s a great photo of the army, can’t believe you have managed to get that all done in just over a month. It is amazing how a half hour here or there adds up to some real hobby time, me it is quite satisfying getting the next colour completed or model finished.

It all looks very impressive, I like the red detailing on the paint scheme. How many points of army is that? And when the terminators are completed what are you going to add to it next, titans?

No idea on points! But it’s a fair few.

Day 45, 14 February 2026

Oooh me ‘ead. I am not as young as I used to be. Suffering a bit after pub escapades last night.

But the show must go on! Today, I’ll get the fliers finished. First I must buy some soft drink, then I need to delve into my carry case, as I need to use the existing Fire Raptors as reference for the next ones.

And…FIN. All done with the first project.

Day 45 continued.

Making up for spending most of the day in bed feeling sorry for myself, and got two of four sets of Infantry prepped. So 8 Dreads assembled, 20 Missile Launchers shouldered, and the corner removed to better expose the Assault Marines, which have a gate channel thing up top as well as on their feet.

If I clear down my work bench, I should be able to get these guys and bases sprayed, and be working on the other two sets at the same time.

Undecided if I want to break the sprues down further. It’s not strictly necessary for the undercoat stage. But once I’m wanting in at shoulder pads? It makes life easier.

Right. Now off to read my Liber Strategia, and work out how many of the soon to be 32 bases of Tacticals are getting an Apothecary.

Day 46, 15th February 2026

And that’s all my Astartes Infantry ready for undercoating.

Gonna leave it for an hour or so to make sure all the glue is properly set. Then clear the decks down, and get on with the spraying. Also, I’ve worked out that from this lot, I’ll need to use every Apothecary on Tactical Bases. Then every Tactical Based unit in my army will have Medicae. Well. Bases within 4”.

Sod it. Spray time!

And a Double Sod It. All your base are belong to spray booth.

Great job on getting that lot done.

I’d forgotten how fiddly the Missile Launchers are. You either place it right first time? Or it takes ages.

Day 47, 16 February 2026

I’ve had a bit of a breakdown.

Probably should’ve done this yesterday, but it’s done now. Tomorrow is the Grand Drybrush.

No hobby today. Horrific head cold.

Impressive work on the legion.

Feel better.

Feeling betterer today. Will be able to get the drybrush done, maybe start stippling the bases.

Back to health, so back to the hobby grotto. Specifically the corner that is Drybrush Alley.

BASING FRENZY!!!

Recipe can be found on Page 3 of this thread. But that’s all,the bases that needed basing based barring the thin Agrax wash. But lunchtime is nearly over, so that will be this evening’s job, yes.

And bases all done. Frees up tomorrow for doing as much of the Grim Black as I can stomach (might take two or three sessions throughout the day. Maybe four), then Sunday for Metallics and Red blobs on right hand Pauldrons. Plus slightly fancy on the Terminators.

Definitely more than optimistic I’ll be all done by the end of the week.

Just preparing for Day 50.

Still feeling a bit grotty, but hopefully another Lemsip will kick me into gear, as it’s a long haul today to get as much Grim Black done before I get bored and wander off.

I expect if I do a number of half hour or 45 minute sessions I’ll get through it.

Day 50, 21 February 2026

Right. Grim Black.

So far done all the Missile Support, all the Plasma Support, all the Contemptors and all the the Terminators.

Gonna have a telly break, then return to finish the job. Also need to see if I’ve got that nifty White Contrast. I think it’s in the Magic Box O’Stuff.

And that’s the Grim Black finished. Tomorrow I’ll do all the Metallics, which really shouldn’t take terribly long. Maybe start, possibly finish the reddening.

Looking forward to the finish, and getting a full army group shot.

Really not feeling it today. But got the Terminators done in Metallics, and not pictured one of the Contemptors.

Sick of this bloody cold. Last night was an early night, so no hobby time.

Ah yes, this is the stuff - a Mad Doc painting extravaganza.

Your progress is truly dizzying. I’m constantly impressed by the level of detail in the LI range.

I do need to get back at it. Just haven’t been in the mood.
