Hehe, I had to start another one to suck everyone in. Ok, I've actually thought about this one, this survivor tests the army that is the most unoriginal, i.e., is so heavily based on an actual historical culture that the comparisons aren't even clever.
Black Templars / Knights Templar - 10 Necrons / Egyptian - 10 Lizardmen / Mesoamerican - 10 Valhallans / Soviet Russian - 10 Tomb Kings / Egyptian - 10 Kroot / Native North American - 10 Praetorians / British Colonials - 10 Tau / Feudal Japanese - 10 Sisters of Battle / Catholicism - 10 Bretonnians / French - 10 Ogre Kingdoms / Mongolians - 10 Kislev / Russian - 10
Enjoy, I think it is quite difficult.

The list is inherently flawed by interpretation. Catholicism isnt a culture either, arguably. But that i can go with. The egyptian reference is very wrong though. Think more Mesopotamian/Chaldean.
Black Templars / Knights Templar 10 Necrons / Mesopotamian 9 Lizardmen / Mesoamerican 10 Valhallans / Soviet Russian 10 Tomb Kings / Mesopotamian 9 Kroot / Native North American 10 Praetorians / British Colonials 11 Tau / Feudal Japanese 8 Sisters of Battle / Catholicism 11+ Bretonnians / French 10 Ogre Kingdoms / Mongolians 10 Kislev / Russian 9
The reasoning that I think the sisters are the best reference is that they are a militant nunnery sect, who definatly dont believe in the seperation of church and state. Very catholic. Religion is power. They wield that power like a pagan hammer.

Empire, IMHO, closer references the English Civil War than it does the Holy Roman Empire. As xnet445 points out, quite a few Historicals players use Empire figs (or, as more common at the old LFGS, use ECW/WAB historicals to field Empire armies). Anyhow, voted down Tau as they really don't reference feudal Japan at all.

There is no such city as Angkhor Prok. There is, however, Angkor Wat, which is in Cambodia. My guess is people think "Thai" since the name/letter combinations are more familiar given the popularity of their fine cusine. In reality, Kroot have no connections (that I'm aware of) to either Thai, Cambo/Khmer, or Native American culture at all. Possibly jungle fieldcraft, but that goes for any indigenous/naturalized people living in jungle environments, from Southeast Asia to Africa or Central and South America. Throw in cannibalism, shapers/shaping, and their (somewhat) auxillary status and they are far closer to indigenous Africans or Central/South Americans. Black Templars / Knights Templar 10 Necrons / Mesopotamian 5 Lizardmen / Mesoamerican 4 Womb Kings / Egyptian 6 Kroot / Cannibalistic Native Jungle Peoples? -6 Praetorians / British Colonials 12 Sisters of Bottle / Catholicism 11 Bretonnians / French 10 Ogre Kingdoms / Mongolians 12 Kislev / Russian 9 Empire / Holy Roman Empire 10
