Sabol Army Transport is the best case for any army.

Do not use the CLEAR dice!
Dear Whiny Space Marine Players, you get 3+ armor saves on all your troops (save scouts), Assault cannons, a huge assortment of vehicles and weapons, arguably one of the best if not THE best tank in the game, funny helmets, and a partrige in a pear tree.
suck it up, space marines. You're the emperor's chosen superhuman warriors. stop whining like a guardsmen and take it like a superman! |

Buy an empty Sabol case and then ask around what size trays you need for the army you're building. Sabol Foam TraysI believe that you can stack 12" inside the Sabol Army Transport. Each tray has .25" cushion. And then you can get: 1" 1.5" 2" 2.5" 3" 4" For every tray add the .25" and you have a hit. My Eldar fit in 1" trays quite nicely but my Warmachine stuff needs the 1.5" Ask people if you can test fit your figs in theirs.

I have a large Tyranid army and I used large pistol cases purchased from our local Bass Pro shop. I use the cases that hold 4 pistols and these are roughly the size of a GW figure case. I caught them on sale and purchase 5 cases for about $40. I then cut the foam inside the cases to fit my figures.
If I was going to do this again...I would probably just get the Sabol case. It's a lot less effort.

Sabol is good, but for the really fiddly guys, you're going to want to find a way to identify which 'slot' is meant for which figure. Otherwise, packing your army up becomes an IQ test!

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.
I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil |

What I have been moving all my armies to is magneting up the base and storing them in metal tool boxes. Best place/price to get them that I have found (he was my third try) is sedona2 on eBay, here are the ones you want: .4 x .05 " for metal models .156 x .04" for plastic models. If you put them in the tool box and drop it down a flight of stairs a few may come loose but for the most part, they won't move.

I glue washers to the bases of all my little nids, otherwise theyre too unstable. So I just grabbed a bunch of cheap plastic containers, and got some magnetic strips from Michaels. Theyre strong enough for me to turn the containers upsidedown without any of the minis falling off. It doesnt work on anything bigger or heavier than a warrior tho.
