'k, maybe I'm dim or I misread the rules on defensive vs main weapons.

Say you have a Leman Russ Demolisher pimped out with a hull Lascannon and twin Plasma Cannon sponsons (a typical build).

Are those not all considered to be "main weapons" as they are all S7+?  So, you could only fire all three if the Demolisher sits not moving (I'd say 'immobile', but I don't want to open *that* kettle of kroot)?

Or am I missing something?

I've heard much talk of how the Plasma Cannons help you shoot things while you're out of range for the Demolisher Cannon...presumably you'd want to be actually moving up to try to get in range for it.  But the main/secondary weapon rules seem to prevent this.

The Demolisher doesn't really need the PCs; it's got much better low-AP death in the turret. Better to go the HB route, and get some shots on-the-move while getting close enough to use it.

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake;
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Strangelooper:

What you're missing is that in a normal guard army (non-cityfight) you generally don't want to move your Demolisher forward out in front of your lines. It will block LOS for other units in your army, and it allows some armies to get into CC earlier (which will give them some free movement towards the rest of your army).

When you take Plasma Cannons/Lascannon on a Demolisher the reason to do that is to punish the enemy that tries to stay out of Range of the Demolisher Cannon. Sometimes you do want to go ahead and move 6" and fire the DC. Other times it's better to sit out of range and just fire the x2 Plasma Cannons and Lascannon.

Additionally the PC/LC combo means that no Terminators are really wanting to deep strike next to you unless they are confident you will go away. The long range death of that machine against pretty much anything means sitting around is fine.

I dunno...seems like an expensive 3 x BS3 single-shot weapons platform. That's one, maybe two hits per turn.

Still, with AV13 on the sides, I suppose you can always use it as a push-back unit front and center, in order to get maximum board coverage out of the 24" cannon.

I'll try running with triple HB as well, so I can advance with it. I can run it up a flank with some RRs or Seraphim using it as a shield, so I don't muck up the LOS from my line squads.

the spire of angels

thing to remeber is how it fits into the rest of your amry list.

it works just fine to go las/plas if you have enough other stuff in your list to support it and draw fire.
