I based flock with white glue once but when I tried to drybrush the
material it took the flock off. I used to be able to do it where it didn't.

What's the trick here?

The trick with using white glue is that after it dries and any excess flock is blown off, you really need to spray on a thin coat of glue or sealant to get it to stay put. Even then it doesn't necessarily work well. I've found that a touch of super glue (the super thin/instant variety) works wonders, as it instantly cures on contact with the water in the white glue and will most definitely hold the flock in place. Ditto with sand, rocks and anything else you want to base yer figs with. Enjoy!

I based 2000 pts. of guard w/ white glue about 2 weeks ago, and now it's all falling off. I'll have to try the super glue.

Is it the water that does it?

I have been using White glue and carpenters glue for my figures with no problems. However I do seal the base after it drys and do have to blow off some excess. I have also used the white glue to put rocks on bases and in some of my HO train cars to act as loads on a piece of plastic.

I used wood glue to base my models. It seems to hold better than white glue.

Also, I put the flock on before I prime and paint the model. Any grass or static grass will go on last. Putting primer over the gravel/flock really keeps it in place. It also makes it easier to drybrush. I've been much happier with my bases since I started doing it this way.

Ok this is what I do.

I mix white glue and water together so it almost looks like milk. Dont drink it!

I base the mini with white glue and what ever I want glued on there, let it dry.

Put on the under coat or base coat, straight outta the spray can, let that dry.

Then I go back over the base, with what evers on it with watered down white glue,
since the glue is all watered down the glue will run all in the cracks and what not.

 Coating everything on the base.
Make sure to let your mini, dry on a paper towel, not your desk top, or work station top, cause theyll stick to the table.
