So what do people think?

I like it.  New interesting skills, getting rid of aging, allowing teams that take a few casualties to recover.

Some really good stuff.

My favorite addition?  Replacing the throwers in certain teams with runners.  Dark Elves, Norse and a few others get Runners - They still get pass skills I believe, but they are more tuned to a running game than a throwing one.

My favorite new team is Dark Elves.  Assassins + Runners added give the team a whole new flavor.  Norse is also very different, and different than just humans with block.

Havent looked into it yet.

Hope more old fools come to their senses and start giving you their money instead of those Union Jack Blood suckers...

The LR5.0 is the closest they've come to returning the game to the spirit of 3rd edition rules. I hated 4.0. I hated the LRs that came out, until this one.

We are actually playing blood bowl again, using these rules, and I think they're great. There have only been a few tweaks we've considered, including:

- We've axed negative skills, except on Vampires
- If increased stats = increased player cost, then decreased stats should do something similar?
- Starting team cost = 1,070,000 instead of 1,000,000; this mainly made a big difference for the more expensive teams, and we did it to "jump start" those teams a little bit

But we're really enjoying it. Most of the new skills are meh, though Juggernaut is great. The Big Guys, finally, are just about right. The team cost calculations are solid, a great replacement for the traditional method. Not factoring in the treasury into the cost is great. I love the "journeyman" rule, that's huge. And the "inducements" are, while a little boring, a much more consistent method for handling disparity between teams.

We just finished an awsome league using the 5.0 rules. With the jurneyman rule, people do not get creamed after one bad game.

The only thing about BB that I dislike is that everything is so dependent on the Block skill.

You're not playing with enough variation in teams if you think block does everything.

Elves dodging on 2+'s and making throws and handoffs all over the place makes block do nothing really. Amazon's dodging all over the place, and chaos and orcs with multiple s4 and s5 players make block less useful.

If you're not playing a block heavy team, you just need to make blocks to push tackle zones away from the ball, and your receivers.

It's been my experience that forcing your opponent to remove figures from the field is the surest path to victory. The way the game is set up, Block is the primary way you do this and thus it's pretty much mandatory. Don't get me wrong, I understand that beating down your opponent is part of the fun, I just get depressed seeing everyone I play against rushing to get everyone on the team the Block skill regardless of the team's "flavor".

We really have taken to these rules and have started a great little league. The variety of teams and diffent play styles have realy kept the game fresh. Its a great set of rules. Can't wait till my match tomorrow.

I really like LRB 5.0. A lot of people complain about it, it seems, but I feel it's the best version so far.

We are just finishing the playoffs of an 18 team league, and the 5.0 rules have been very solid. The inducement system really works as intended, and apart from the deliberately weak teams, the teams are relatively balanced.

Personally, the best thing i've found about the new rules is the lack of ambiguity. There wasn't one rules problem throughout the 90+ games played this season.

As for Block being dominant, we've seen a large amount of teams with Juggernaut on Big Guys and Wrestle on linemen/elves/rats.  Plus, Wrestle + Tackle means that Blodgers aren't as dominant as they've been in the past.
