I'm really loving the tank. At some point I'll have to do my World eaters for hh

Thanks - The print came out pretty well, just a couple of rough areas where the Contrast didn't work as well as it would have on a truly flat plastic surface...

Olthannon wrote:Not caught up in a little while but I'm loving your updates Slinky! Éomer looks awesome and the tank is extremely cool.

Thanks, Olthannon!

Yeah, something white instead of red for a change

Here are 2 LOTR figures - The "defenders of Helm's Deep" taking inspiration from 2 characters from the films.

Feel slightly suckered as I bought them at Warhammer World where they were on a shelf proclaiming them to be "WW exclusive" - Turns out that wasn't true and they are freely available on the website! Still, nice figures...

Had another burst of painting enthusiasm and got these DKOK Ogryns done - Got them from the ShieldWolf kickstarter a while ago...

A pretty simple paintjob to match the rest of the army.

57 for the year now, so not terrible

Those look great! I think the only thing those minis are missing are some bulging Ogryn muscles.

They are cool, yeah, the assembly was a bit awkward as the arm joints don't look good in most alignments.

Olthannon wrote:Those look great! I think the only thing those minis are missing are some bulging Ogryn muscles.

Yeah, maybe, would be hard to show that through the greatcoat, I guess

Thanks, duder!

After I painted those, I started work straight away on a Praetor for my 30k Alpha Legion. Then immediately lost all interest in him, for some unknowable mojo-sapping reason.

So he's gone back in the drawer, and I have painted a bit of LOTR terrain! The Amon Hen fallen statue head thing from Forge World.

Inspired by my having some LOTR figures out to paint, the junior slinkies decided to play one of the LOTR scenarios - Balin's Tomb:

A close-run thing, the Fellowship prevailed, but were very beaten up by the cave troll, and Merry fell to a goblin's dagger...

Thanks, youwashock, yes, nice to see them out, and it gave me a little push in the right direction to get some more painted!

Cheers! And it actually spurred me on to get some painting done, so that's nice. A couple more orcs very nearly done, should be posted soon

I hadn't used the 3d printer this year, so decided to fire it up again.

For a challenge, I am printing up a Warhound titan!

Here are the results so far, a pair of legs in glorious blurrovision

Cool work on the LOTR stuff, the fallen statue is great. Awesome that the mini-slinkies got in on the action too.

I love a good Titan build, so will be following along. Is it an FDM or resin Titan?

Thanks! It's FDM, I am using an Ender 3 V2. Some rough bits, but overall it's going well...

Been away on hols, but back now and made a bit more progress:

Cheers Going to try to completely finish one leg next, I think, to get a feel of how it will look with all the highlighting etc in place.

I came back from holiday full of LOTR hobby mojo, having taken the next journey book away with me as reading material, so I have got 12 more Orcs painted

2023's total is now 84, fairly pleased with that.

Nice! It's best to follow where the hobby mojo follows. Mine is often strong affected by what I'm reading too.

I haven't forgotten the titan, though, and managed to get the first leg finished:

Just 2 more Orcs to go and then I'll be done with Mordor for now, and moving into Fangorn!

Cheers A couple more orcs coming in a couple of days once they are based...

I've made a bit more titan progress - Got both the weapon arms painted up:

Here's a pic of the carapace - As you can see I need to do a certain amount of GS filling around the front, as I printed it in 3 parts and some of the edges didn't come out perfectly.

The final 2 Orcs are done - Snaga and Grishnákh!

Ready to eat any spare Hobbit legs that might be going - "Oooh, they look tasty!".

Pleased with these - The detailed resin casts make it much easier to get a good effect on the face than the slightly lumpy old plastic sculpts
