Last weekend I attended the Ropecon tournament.

It was a 5 game tournament with everyone playing 3 games and te top half qualifying for the finals. In total we had 92 players representing a whole hose of armies.

The tournament was to be played with 1600-2000pt armies, if you had less than the 2k pts then whatever was missing you would start with as VPs so a 1600pts army would start the game with +400VPs.

I decided to shelve my nids (well actually I lent them to someone else to play) and I went with my newly painted (sort of) Mech Tau.

I ran the following list:

Shas'o - Cyclic Ion Blaster, Plasma Rifle, Stim injector, vector thrusters, multitracker 130pts
Shas'el - Helios config, array, multi-tracker 97pts

3 Crisis /w plasma/missile, multi, Shav?re w/ 2 SDs, Failsafe 237pts
3 Stealths /w 5 drones 150pts
3 Stealths /w 4 drones 140pts

12 Fire Warriors /w Devilfish ? decoys, array, multi-tracker 220
12 Fire Warriors /w Devilfish - decoys, array, multi-tracker 220

10 Kroot 70
10 Kroot 70

<!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]-->
<!--[endif]-->Pirana - fusion blaster, array 70
Pirana - fusion blaster, array 70
Pirana - fusion blaster, array 70

Ionhead - burst, decoys, multi, pod, lock 140
Railhead - burst, decoys, multi, pod, lock, 175
Ionhead - burst, decoys, multi, pod, lock 140

It was painted models only so I ended up not playing the 20 kroot as I was too pressed for time to paint them before friday.....course the 3rd game was not till saturday and the last 2 where on sunday but hei.....

I am pretty new to Tau, Prior to this tournament I had played only 1 game with them so I didnt really know what I was doing....

Game 1:

I would be facing........my own GODZILLA NIDS!!!!

Well this is a good start
Why on WHYYY did I lend that army out was my first thought.

Nid army looked like this:

Winged Tyrant
Shooty Tyrant (VC/devourer) + 3 guard

3*DevilFex (2* tl devs)

3*6 stealthers with carapace

2*Ravaner
1*Ravaner
13*Gargoyles

3*Zoans with Blast and Scream (hooray!)
Sniperfex (VC/BS/SB)
Sniperfex (VC/BS/SB)

Missions:
Take and hold gamma, 4 objectives, 2 worth 3 tournament points, 2 worth 1 tournament point.

It seems I didnt take a good pic of the entire battlefield however...
http://www.ageofstrife.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Bugs&id=Tau_vs_Nid&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

That pic shows the objectives the best, Top left hand corner where my railhead is has 1 3pt objective, another is the silver pathfinder next to the fex in cover.

The two 1pts objectives are too the left.

After deployment is done I have most of my army deployed in the left corner of my DZ.
http://www.ageofstrife.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Bugs&id=Army&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

Going after the two 3 pts objectives with the crisis suits a stealth team and the 3 piranhas on the right flank.

http://www.ageofstrife.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Bugs&id=Right_corner_of_DZ&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

Sorry about the pics being so random, they are better in the later games.

Once the game starts it becomes pretty clear there is no way I can take the 3pts objectives, as the team invincible (tyrant with 3 guard) goes to protect one and a fex in 4+ cover protects the other.

My aim is now to contest those objectives while taking the two 1pts ones.

On the right flank opposing my crisis suits and crisis suits the opponent has deployed the winged tyrant, 3 devilfexs and the gargoyles with a squad of stealers closer to the center that sits on one of the objectives all game.

http://www.ageofstrife.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Bugs&id=Tau_vs_Nid&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

I concentrate my railguns fire on squads of stealers (usually packed clsoe together to stay out of los) it hits the first 2 times each time killing 4 stealers and making the squads non scoring.

My railheads fire on a sniperfex out of cover and quickly reduce it to 1 wound over the first 2 turns.

my devilfish manage to kill the ravaners over the first 2 turns also.

Tyranid fire over the first 2 turns does manage to down a Ionhead and takes the railgun off the railhead.

On the right flank the winged tyrant and  gargoyles race up the field, I manage to put 1 wound onto the tyrant from long distance and once it closes into rapid fire range I am just able to finnish it.

http://www.ageofstrife.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Bugs&id=Tyrant&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

Took alot of rapid fire plasma + 4 fusion guns but that did the job, 4+ cover or not. The CIB commander and a few drones managed to kill most of the gargoyles. The few that remained had a scuffle with my Ninja CC commander and where beaten down in the following turn.

Now it was time to start concentrating fire on the 3 devilfexs.

If you look at the above pic real close you will see 1 devilfex in the open and 2 in 4+ cover, you can just barely see their outlines in that building at the top.

luckily he was new to nids and didnt advance them all at the same time, rather he tried to keep them in cover as much as possible....though not all of them, this allowed me to take them on 1 by 1, rapid fire plasma + the fusion guns and the cib too them down 2-3 wounds a turn.

Then I sent in the drones to finnish off the 1 wound fex
http://www.ageofstrife.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Bugs&id=CC_with_Fex&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

On the left flank the FWs where trying to kill the 4+ cover fex with pulse fire but to no avail.
http://www.ageofstrife.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Bugs&id=Tau_vs_Nid&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php
http://www.ageofstrife.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Bugs&id=Nids_looking_Sweet&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

I did lose the mobility of the railhead on turn 5 and it was then destroyed in CC by the 1 wound sniperfex on turn 6.

I also lost the 2nd ionhead but the 2 fish I had left allowed me to contest the 2 objectives on turn 6, opponent won and took first turn iirc.

http://www.ageofstrife.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Bugs&id=Late_game_objective_hunting&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

On the right flank I was able to shoot the stealers off the objective and kill 1 devilfex (in CC with the drones) the other 2 I reduced to 1 wound each so they where non scoring...

Game ends with the big objectives contested and me holding the 2 small objectives.... max 12 pts from the mission otherwise so in the end I scored a 10/2 win with 2 extra points from the objectives for a total of 12/2 against my own rather tooled up Zilla list! Not bad imo....

Granted the player was new to nids so he made some mistakes (but hei, I am new to Tau)

Interesting idea for a tournament.  I'm fascinated by the points values, 1600-2000 where anything less than 2000 you got as victory points before the game.  Did anyone think of taking 1600 points specifically for victory point denial?  I could imagine a seer council list or a farsight list composed of only two minimum troops choices and the rest in the single HQ unit.  If the opponent can't kill half that HQ unit, automatic victory.

There was some talk about taking less than the full 2k but atleast all 5 opponents I faced all had 2k lists.... As did the top 2 ranking players atleast...

Oh and 1 imperial armour model was also allowes....someone had a armoured company with a baneblade....the eldar revenant titan was there, as was the 888pts chaos demon... bloodthirster look a like. I didnt face any of them though....

Game 2 will be up in about an hour or so.

Ok well it seems the long links somewhat mess up the post so I will post them seperately.

Here are the pics for game 2, the bat rep tells you when to check each pic.

Alright here comes game 2:

Opponent is Chaos Space marines

His armylist:
Pimped out Demon Prince that CAN be instakilled by S10
Lord of Change

Autocannon Havoc squad with tank hunters
Some slaanesh noise marine squad havoc squad with those fake rockket/heavy stubber weapons

2*las/plas squads
1*rocket/flamer squad?

Tl lascannon/HB sponson Predator

2*Rhino squads, all kinds of expensive stuff inside, one of which has the lord of changes host.
1 Oblitorator

Large unit of furies
Large unit of flamers

The mission is cleanse omega so my entire army starts in reserve. I win first turn and give it to my opponent.

12 Tournament points max from kills, the other 8 are from table quarters, normal rules apply however if you have DOUBLE
the amount of scoring units in a quarter then you can still steal it from your opponent.

If you look at the last pic you will see my opponents deployment.

He deploys a single las/plas squad over on his left flank, the rest of the army starts on the right flank/center.
The rest are deployed pretty much as in the pic, the pic was taken on the chaos players turn 3 after I threw my first reserves so he has
had time to move 3 times at this point.

His main antitank came from the 2 havoc squads, 1 would shoot 8 S8 shots a turn (the autocannons) and the other would fire 4 S8 a turn.

fortunately the noise havoc squad had a bad firing position with a building in the way so they where not much of a threat.

Turn 2:

My opponent has advanced most of his mobile elements up the field and I start rolling for reserves.
What I really want is the railhead so I can instakill that arrogant DP just strolling up the field (ok he was hiding on turn 2 but he cant hide forever)

What I get is an ionhead, a devilfish, my crisis suits, a commander, stealth team and a piranha.
I start working on weakening the tac squad on the top right flank (of the pic)

Stealths deepstrike so they can do some damange on the left flank.

Chaos turn 3: He decides to be aggresive with his DP and charges my wall of skimmers with it doing nothing.
Prior to this the DP summons some furies as seen in pic 2.

Oh the other flank the lord of change bursts out and assualts the stealth suits (daim!) they where too far left as I was afraid the DP would summon furies in their direction.
But that is ok, all I have to do is fail the ld check after losing combat.....1 wound taken each, its a tie! damnit

Tau turn 3:
Need the railhead......1 no railhead.
Everything else comes on this turn.

I concentrate all my fire on killing the DP the old fashioned way, plasma + rockets with a few fusions thrown in for flavour, I also fish of fury the furies and they all die.
Now I really need the stealths to HOLD! but alast they fail thei ld test and are run down.

Chaos turn 4:
The lord of changed rolled a 6" consolidate, combined with a 12" move and a 6" charge they are JUST able to get into CC with a single drone from a stealth team.
It also summons a lot of flamers into charge range.

The lord of change decides not to use the flamer in order to guarantee CC, charges the stealths while the furies fire and charge mythe same unit.
Most of his marine shooting is ineffective or does not happen in the first place because they have no los to most of my army.
Stealths are killed and the lord of change consolidates into my cheaper HQ, the flamers consolidate into my Ninja CC HQ.

Tau turn 4:
Rolling for that railhead........NO its a 1 again
Ok well I use my ioncannons to start taking out those autocannon havocs while my crisis suits finnish off the unit on the right flank (las/plas unit)
My HQ draws in CC with the furies 1 wound on each side and stays in CC, the lord of change does 1-2 wounds on my cheaper HQ.

Chaos turn 5: he starts shuffling about abit trying to find a way to take the table quarters, shooting downs a Ionhead and a devilfish.
in CC I lost my cheaper HQ to the lord of change while my Ninja HQ wins the CC and then does a hit and run.

Tau turn 5:
Railhead time!!!!!......................NOT
Forget it, who needs it anyway!

Well the lord of change and the furies are now nicely in the open so I open up on them with everything, FWs rapid fire the furies away while my
plasma/missile/CIB takes out the lord of change.

Chaos turn 6:
Not much he can do at this point since bar the 2 rhinos and the pred all his mobile elements are dead, he fires a few shots at what he can see, killing 6 FWs but not
making the unit non scoring, not much he can see really with the wreck of the devilfish giving me even more cover.

Tau turn 6:
I already hold my own quarter and the top right is completely empty of chaos forces so I send a FW unit to take that.
I then send my piranhas and stealths to stealth the corner quarter from the chaos marines, he believed he had 2 squads in that corner but his measurements
where about 5" off and actually he had just 1, so with the stealths and the piranhas, perhaps something else I forget, I have more than double the scoring unit
points in that quarter and am able to stealth it, his quarter I merely contest by moving my last devilfish and ionhead over to that quarter.

In the end we drawed for kill points as those demons killed so much of mine.
I lost 2 stealth teams, 1 commander, half points for more expensive commander, lost an Ionhead, devilfish....

Opponent lost lord of change, DP, furies, Flamers, half a havoc squad and 1 las/plas....oh and I instakilled his obli on the last turn aswell.

I think I may have forgotton I start with 141VPs due to not having the kroot but this likely would have made little difference.

So it was 6/6 for game points and 6/0 for mission points so in the end I won 12/6.

Not bad, had I not made a huge mistake with the stealths, or even then had I just not
been so close with the 2nd stealth unit (needed 1" more distance) I would have lsot a heck of a lot less!

I've found deep strike and myself typically constitutes huge mistake. It always seems like a good idea, but in the end, I typically see a slingshot effect w/ assault units as they lick the lips upon the arrival of the new unit.

I feel your pain with very late coming reserves. It's something that can really wreck plans through no fault of your own-frustrating. That made for some fortunate luck for your opponent getting aggressive early with demons.

Good reports; can't wait for the rest.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

You mentioned that super heavy's where allowed. I know neither of those are worth 1600 pts, so how where the lists allowed to be broken up for those things? Since the Super Heavy is supposed to be a Force Structure onto itself.

I'm not sure how it worked at this tournament, but it might have been super heavies and anything with mass points takes up 2 heavy slots. At least that's how it is played in the Chicagoland area.

Nah, super heavies got their own FOC for FREE, so basically ones that took it could take 4 HS choices....

They decided it would be too difficult to come up with a table for each FW item so decided not 2

The only one I heard complaints about was the eldar ravanant titan? or whatever the thing is called, apparantly it was thought to be somehwat broken.

Someone had a hierophant on show but it was not played in the tourny unfortunatly...

Sorry bout the delay, bit sick atm so not in the mood to sit and write up the reports atm but I will get to them asap.

The next 3 opponents where:
Chaos
Chaos
and shockingly MORE Chaos.....

Guess what army my practice game was agianst before this tourny? only had 1 game under my Tau belt.....ironwarriors CHAOS

So far I have played a total of 6 games with my tau against 6 different people.....1 Nid opponent (my nids...my list) 5 Chaos......Hoorah.

"Hello, Vsurma, I am your father..."

Ok, im not, I lied. But, instead, Im your Ropecon game 2 opponent... Kind of funny finding a report about the game here Anyway, thanks for a fun, if frustrating game... Also, thanks for all the '1's for the Hammerhead reserve roll

First of all, some more pictures from Ropecon -06 and (mostly) my army can be found at: http://personal.inet.fi/cool/kastama/conpic06/. Sorry about the text, it's all in finnish. Anyway, the topmost pics show my army being displayed. Won the "Best Army" The second set of pics is my army on field and the last set is of other peoples armies.

Just  a month before the tournament I had 1k pts painted and ready, and those included little else than the daemons and both HQ choises + some marines. Since I had so little time and so much left to paint, I went for some more interesting & unlikely choises, as keeping my interest in painting the army was going to be crucial. The result became a Fun Play list, which did not qualify for the last 2 games (3rd round marine assault cannon horde massacred me and I was 3pts under qualifying limit). The army just doesn't have enough firepower and has serious problems with multiple skimmers & light vehicles... Also, another excuse: I had played no games whatsoever with a Chaos army before

Here's my army list, 2000pts:

Daemon Prince (+MoS, Spiky Bits, 2xCCW, Doom Siren, D.Stature, D.Flight, D.Mutation, D.Aura, D.Strenght, Combat Drugs) 192pts

Lord of Change (free Wind of Chaos) 160pts

1 Obliterator

8 CSM in rhino (+MoCU&icon, Missile Launcher, Meltagun, Aspiring Champion with Daemon Chains) (Rhino+extra armour+smoke launchers) 173 + 58 pts

6 Noise Marines in rhino (MoS, Blastmaster, 2 Sonic Blasters) 134 + 58pts

7 Flamers of Tzeentch 161pts

5 CSM (+lascannon, plasmagun) 95pts

5 CSM (+lascannon, plasmagun) 95pts

5 CSM Bikers (+MoCU, 2 meltaguns, Furious Charge, Aspiring Champion with Lightning Claw, Daemonic Mutation and the unit icon) 248pts

7 Furies 105pts

6 CSM havocs (+3 heavy bolters, infiltrate, MoCU) 153pts

6 CSM havocs (3 autocannons, tank hunters, MoCU) 168pts

1 Predator Annihilator (Twin-Lascannon turret, Heavy Bolter sponsons) 130pts

Well... all my shooty stayed in cover through the game, and all my assaulty stuff made a desperate attempt to catch something in your mobile army. The tzeentchian part got there, but I don't remember getting into h2h with much else. The daemon prince assaulted a skimmer tank once, failed and paid with his life, the bikes just kept on turboboosting and furries just failed miserably and died. Basicly all I managed was getting the tzeentchians into combat (they must have been the only units doing any real damage)... My shooting was terrible, if I remember correctly... I think you had most of your tanks in very good shape at the end. The points were greatly in your favour, but luckily still a draw... Also, I think we claimed objectives 6-2, not 6-0, since I had my home quarter and your piranhas (which didnt do anything else at all) helped secure the rest. The wall-terrain offered no cover at all from your 12" move & shoot army :| Very educational though... My first game vs Tau Empire and my second game with CSM

Was my 3rd game with the tau soI didnt have much more experiance with the army myself.

I did really wish I had painted those kroot, could have taken out those flamers easily enough with them. Yea 6-2 for the objectives,
you had too much in your quarter so I could nto contest that corner.

Ok its about time I get this finnished, its been 2 weeks now so the details are somewhat hazzy so I will make short
summaries of the last 3 games.

Game 3 was against CHAOS

Armylist:

200+ points demon lord on bike

Oblit
6-8 noise marine squad with special weapons

Rhino with expensive squad inside
las/plas squad
10 plaguebearers? (the green demons)
10 Demonettes
10 furies
8 flamers (1 normal, 7 upgraded ones)

6 Raptors, with asp Champ with power weapon and chaos gifts

Defiler
Predator tl las/HB
6*Havocs with 4 tank hunting autocannons

Something along these lines.

Mission
No mercy asked, no mercy given.

Seek and destroy Gamma

Deployment
http://www.ageofstrife.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Bugs&id=Field_of_battle&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

I win the roll so my opponent places the predator first, I place a Ion as seen in the pic, he then deploys the havos in the FFAAAAR corner...
I think to myself that this being his main antitank and the mission just being seek and destroy there really is no reason to ever get in range of those
weak 48" guns so I deploy the rest of my army accordingly, I figure I can always Ion them to death before moving in if I feel the need.

My opponent then places the defiler in the same corner, afterwhich he realizes I am not coming that way and starts deploying more towards the center,
single las/plas in the top right corner for some reason.

Turn 1:
Opponent wins first turn, Havocs are out of range
http://www.ageofstrife.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Bugs&id=Where_is_the_enemy&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

Defiler is almost out of range itself! opponent plays it safe and shoots at a hammerhead, (which was nice since he had a shot at both my HQs and 3 crisis suits
granted it was likely out of range. Defiler shoots, hits, pen changed to glance thanks to decoys (how do you fool a indirect battle cannon shot I wonder)
Ah the wonders of tau technology

He rolls a glance 6, rerolled to a 5, Oh well, it can still shoot, Defiler was jsut under 60" from the Ionhead.

Not much else shooting is done.
The bike lord that started near the rest of the infantry boosts behind cover near the predator.
Oblit is still in reserve (dsing)

Tau turn 1.
I concentrate all fire on the las/plas taking it out.
Immo railhead fires on the defiler doign nothing.
Rail also fires on the defi doing nothing.

Chaos turn 2.
Chaos lord summons flamers and furies,
Chaos lord boosts up in my FACE! it cannot assualt this turn but chances are it will be able to next turn.
Rest of the army is still just moving into place so not much of a threat, pred tries to shoot at a hammer shaking it (ion)
Noise squad gets a S8 shot at a hammer but does nothing.
Flamers shoot a few Fíre warriors down (they where out as they Fish of furies the las/plas last turn)

Furies assualted 2 drones and won! (can you believe thaT!)
http://www.ageofstrife.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Bugs&id=Demons_pfft&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php
Oh right, I think the lord helped

Tau turn 2:
I concentrate all my fire on the chaos biker lord and manage 2-3 wounds, so it had 1 left.
Immo ion again tries to kill the defi but to no avail, railhead has a go at the pred but no luck.
FireWarriors rapid fire the furies into oblivion.
PLasma/missile squad does some nice instakilling action on the flamers.

Chaos turn 3:
http://www.ageofstrife.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Bugs&id=Hammerhead_down_001&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

I believe the rhino squad summons these demonettes and plaguebearers.
His shooting downs a pirana, leaving 2 drones in/behind the wreckage blocking the demonettes assualt, they roll double 1s and fail to charge!
Plaguebeares with their nasty poison KNIVES assualt the hammerheads rear armour I had left showing (hoping they would go for it) and go for it they did.

http://www.ageofstrife.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Bugs&id=Hammerhead_down&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

Lord drives off and hides behind cover.

The result:

http://www.ageofstrife.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Bugs&id=Hammerhead_down_001&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

As you can see the hammerhead was destroyed.....by KNIVES!!!!
6s to hit, 6s to glance, 6 to destroy it.......yep, I just knew it would happen! lol

Tau turn 3:
My FWs take out the plaguebearers (T5 pfft!) and the demonettes along with my 2 HQs.
I fail to kill the defi with the downed ion once again and the rail does nothing to the pred.
I send my piranhas to take out the predator though.

http://www.ageofstrife.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Bugs&id=Tank_hunting&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

Chaos turn 4:
Seems I left a stealth team out in the open and it is charged by the 220 something point chaos lord, but hei no worries I attack first, S5 attacks on a S5 bike.....
=1 dead lord and his pimped out steed! Muhahah

At this point my opponent starts playing VPs denial and tries to hide for the last 2 turns.

I take shots from range with my long range guns and bring the havocs down o below half aswell as the noise squad down to below half.

All looks good but my opponent has a final surprise install! the DSing oblit jumps in on turn 5!
TL plasma on the rear of my railhead and the rail goes DOWN!

I spend my last 2 turns to kill the oblit, rapid fire pulse does nothing but my 2 HQs and the 3 other crisis manaage in the end.

Game ends and it is a 12/8? victory for me.... something like that..

Seems My ninja HQ (feel no pain and retro thrusters) also got to do some CC fighting at some point int he game, I forget at what point.
He has been fun, not tactically great so far as I am too afraid to use him up close to the enemy, there is always so many rockets/lascannons that can instakill him
if he is left in the open and a fist here and there that I fear...

Will have to try and be more aggressive with both him and the FireWarriors.

Thus ends day 2 of the tourny for me with a score of 12/2, 12/6, 12/8.

2 More games to come though so hang tight.

Well I already played in a new tourny so this seems a bit late but hei....

Last 2 games where against chaos and chaos (hooray)

First one had the following army:
http://www.ageofstrife.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Bugs&id=S5300001&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

I took out the rhinos early so that stranded the squads inside rather far away, I kept my army outside of his havoc squads range so that meant most of his antitank was not so much a
threat and the rest was easy enough. His lord did manage to get into CC with some of my skimmers as my railhead NEVER entered the game.... damn reserves but I just plasmad it to death
and all was well.

Won 12/8 or 16/4 cant remember anymore.

Anyway I was in decent shape for the last game, not in the top tables but still had a chance for top 5 finnish.

Last chaos opponent had:

Winged demon prince

6*las/plas squads with mocu

3 dreads

Havoc squad with tankhunters and autocannons
Havoc squad with rockets

3 bikes with 2 flamers, possibly a fist..

Mission was recon so I thought I would be ok but opponent chose the deployment side and got a insanely huge 4+ cover terrain piece.
He put all 6 tac squads inside there along with 1 havoc squad! shooting him out of there would be tough...

First 3 or so turns went well enough, the dreads advanced, everything else sat still, I kept my army out of reach of the autocannon havocs and we shot it out with the rest.

All was fine untill the dreads started getting into CC!!!!
1 was deployed on the opposit e flank of my army so was no threat but the other 2 came at me with a full frontal attack!

Opponent shot of my only railgun so all I had left where my meltas, all in all I did put 7 penetrating hits onto the 2 dreads and even destroyed 2 weapons off 1 but that was it!
The dreads and later the lord which came out of hiding after I lost my only railgun just kept swatting skimmers down untill my wall was gone and they could assualt the troops behind!

Insane game! opponent didnt really shoot down much, the 2 dreads jsut took out my skimmers, lascannons stunned the tanks so the dreads could penetrate them! and they did! every single turn.

I was massacred 20!!!!

Since when are dreads Mech Taus nemesis :=)

I had little problem with the other chaos armies but those dreads! I tell you! WATCH OUT if you see any! for they are craaaazy.

Sorry but I really couldnt be arsed to write real reports this late, tourny was like 3-4 weeks ago....
but I did go to a new tourny this last weekend and I WILL write those up SOON..... (you all believe me right?)

5 Heavy Supports? If that was the army, you got bent over and weren't kissed afterward. Dreads for Chaos are HS, as are the Havocs.

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake;
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Makes little difference to me, still got my arse handed to me by dreads! chaos dreads no less....sure they had mutated hulls but it should have made little difference.

Still all in all I was not too unhappy with the result, Tau are a completely new army to me and I still managed 4/5 wins from the tourny.
