Hey, all. I figured this would be a common n00b question, but couldn't find anything similar in this section, so here's my sitch: I'm assembling a regiment of beastmen for my WHFB Chaos army, and Gors each have a hand weapon and the option for a 2nd weapon or a shield. There are only enough left arms (with weapons) for 1 each Gor.  I want to leave the option to have either the 2nd weapon or shield, so don't want to cut the weapons out of the hands.  If I give them 2 weapons and put the shields on their backs, is that acceptable?  Does WYSIWYG mean you can't have what you didn't pay for on the model?

You'll never have any trouble if you play all of your herds the same. For example, if you have 5 herds and all are either 2 hand weapon (which is the only way you'd want to play them anyway) or hw/shield, then there's no confusion and a little bit of modelling liberty will actually be encouraged.

But if you have 2 herds with hw/sh and 3 with 2 hw, then people will get confused and will not be happy.

Regardless, you really only want the 2 hand weapons. It's much better than the shield option.

I concur with Ed, 2 HW is superior to HW/Shield for Gors as they need the attacks more than they need the saves. But at my old LFGS and with my current gaming group, so long as they are all fielded the same and you let your opponent know which combination they're using, all will be good. Same thing at most tourneys so long as they aren't super-strict WYSIWYG nazi's.
