Ok these are my two biggest projects at the moment. Looking for thoughts on them.

This first one is a Rune Priest I am do for a friend in NY, USA. We are testing the colors out on this model to see if it's something he wants for his entire Space Wolf army, which I would paint.

I originally did it with Space Wolves Grey, washed with Shadow Grey and then highlight up, but he thought it was too light. So he wanted me to try Shadow Grey and then highlight up to Space Wolves grey. Those being the only two colors I used (with various degrees of mixtures for blending) he thinks that this may be too dark. He hasn't decided yet.

Your thought(s)?

This second project is MY World Eater Daemon Prince.

I used the Belakor model from WHFB Storm of Chaos for the base model but I didn't want the wings. So I puttied over the sockets where the wings are to attached. I also wanted something other than that "I am about to strike you" pose so I switched it around ever so slightly to a "I just struck this dread down and now I want you".

I definitely have some filing and touch up work to do on his 'axe hand'. But overall did I effectively change 'feel' the model gives off?

Those are the ugliest orks I've ever seen man!

Seriously though, I really like your painting style. Your orks on the other thread and the marine here are really nice. Great conversion work too.

only the conversion on the Daemon Prince is mine thus far...

I forgot to add that on this post.

Oh and "thank you".

One thing I like to do (other than spends hours in YMDC arguing) is paint. I am slow at it but that is because I am my own worst critic.

Yes to the halberd (stole it from my son). Did a lot of filing and such to make it more evil and less 'kiddie'...

The Corteaz conversion was done by the person I am painting it for. There is a wolf that stand behind the model that I am painting separate.

Yes to the tattoos, the model will be a Rune Priest for his Space Wolf army. The facial tattoos are matching the same glow from the axe to show his connection to it mentally.

That rune priest looks pretty nice - although I think the blue is too strong, but if that's what the guy is paying for, so be it. As for the daemon prince, he just looks too much like a fantasy mini. Right now the only thing about him that looks 40k is the dreadnought prop.

Interesting critique. So the fact that the DP looks like a fantasy mini is a bad thing? I am not sure I understand. The model is supposed to be a daemon prince, while yes it is for a 40k game that doesn't necessarily mean he needs to have futuristic implants and guns sticking out of him. 40k Greater Daemons are in fact the same as they are in fantasy... I was kind of going for that. The fact that the character has progressed so far into daemonhood he would not need any of the mundane armor or weaponry used in the 41st Millenium.

The blue was agreed upon prior to the job. It looks strong right now probably because of the blue inking... I am not sure. It does give it a very definitive color enhancement.
