21st SG unlocked! now at $550k

almost 200 new backers yesterday,.... less than 150 to get to the 3000 mark and the Behemoth.

next up is the sniper pack,..... it looks like one of the better goals

That is true,... they said that there will be rules,... but no boards,.... I'd imagine that these guys will be "off board" with the ability to shoot into the windows of the building. They may be a "6th man" that you can utilize in special situations.

9 (10 if it gets to $600k) unique minis - it's got to be one of the better goals that they have had.

Yes, you get 4 extra free, but? retail?

they made a comment that this may not be a retail product,..... and surely if they sell it at retail (or through cons or their site),... they would put those 4 in there. It's easy to look at the goals and the pretty box renders and the contents pictures and assume that it is a finalized plan,.......

I'd imagine they are waiting to see how many "sell" through the kickstarter to determine what the future plans would be for it. Either way, it only makes sense for it to have the 14 for the game mode.

So you'll have a sniper figure (well, a bunch of them really) which for Recon, isn't even used (assuming it is an off board asset) yet still don't have enough Sec For 1 minis to even cover the cardboard tokens....

As for the infected mission pack, if they are going to try and use how many 'sell' via KS to base the decision to take it to retail or not, they are going to have very skewed data since a LOT of folks 'buying it' are getting it int he $100 bundle. No way to judge possible retail desire for that mission pack based on that.

You can rail on all you want,..... what I suggested is only an idea of how the snipers might work,.... and what might be going on with the infected pack,..... I'm sure that the reality is much different. The only "news" bit that I was giving there is that they stated that it may not be offered at retail,..... and I supposed that if it was,... surely they would have the 14 count minis.

I'm not sure how the snipers will be used,... but if there are no player boards, that's a good indication that they won't be used in the traditional way,..... maybe they can make it into a B&C that is in a outside facing room,.... who knows.

If you are going to be in on this KS,... you will have to accept that some of the stuff may not be perfectly staged to use without having more stuff,.....

maybe the Behemoth with have rules for you to encounter him alone,..... maybe you will need the USCR Mission pack???? who knows,....

I can accept " that some of the stuff may not be perfectly staged to use without having more stuff". I just find it a poor decision to throw in so much of that and:

1. Not improve the retail versions even a bit, and
2. Not provide the figs to replace tokens even in the KS version

I don't think there are supposed to be that many on the board to begin with. If you have every sec for mini on the board you done goofed.

Interestingly enough I posted this on 19 March:

In theory, you would have your sniper/marksman where he could either cover avenues of approach into the building to prevent reinforcements from coming in, where he could cover your exfiltration route to slow pursuit, or where he had LOS into the target area/building/room and he could cap threats to the clearing force. He would also be calling in intel on the target and the surrounding area.

How you work that into this game is the issue. The sniper/marksman would almost have to be an off board asset perhaps able to influence one side of the building with fires and/or revealing 'blips'.

It comes with 10 sec for minis.

Edit: Nevermind, I thought it came with I and II, but it comes with II and III. So yeah, that seems a bit odd.

I'm in for $120 and the $100 add on...

But if the snipers have no in game cards/boards, then this has pretty much become an obvious "porting Mercs to plastic", as there is no other reason to get any of the snipers for Recon. Great SG as far as getting miniatures, and I know there has been a big clamoring from the community for those figures. But this adds absolutely zero to the game if the figure can't be used in Recon.

Looks like I'm going to be out $220 at least. I can't see this not hitting 600k. Would be great to see it hit 700k for whatever that thing is but around 140 models for $220 is pretty solid.

I know if each faction has 10 figures, one of which is a sniper, then there are 9 more which could have been fit in and which could have been applicable for Recon. Since Recon is my primary interest, I don't begrudge the table top guys the snipers as much as I am disappointed they didn't further plus up the board game this project is nominally funding.

Of course, I would have liked to see them plus up the retail versions too.

It will be interesting to see how they handle the 'extra' figures, not met as stretch goals. I remember them saying that using the pledge manager we could add the missing figures to get full 10 man teams.

To me that indicates they are already committed to tooling each 10 man faction in plastic. Alternately they'll be selling metal figures via the pledge manager to fill out the missing figures. I suspect the former is the way they hope to go. If so, announcing that and offering a 'complete your factions' package as an add on would be a easy money maker for the final 24 hours.

Yeah, $220 plus perhaps some of the exclusive usable in Recon seems to be the way I am leading. I'm not 100% decided yet though.

Snipers are a powerful combat tool, even in Recon. This is a pretty cool stretch goal, because it gives extra in the wee hours of the morning right up until the finish line. Snipers are provided to backers for Mission Packs UNLOCKED, not purchased.

Every team has a Sniper classification mini in the tabletop. They are powerful figures that can control whole swaths of the battlefield.

In Recon, Snipers also have rules (but have no player boards). To use Snipers in Recon, players will have to decide which side of the structure they are deployed on, then interact with the location in the security room. This allows the Sniper to identify Agents in Areas adjacent to the side of the structure they are on. In addition, there will be opportunity for the Sniper to provide covering fire in certain circumstances.

We'll also fold Snipers into some of the KS exclusive Missions. So we can have an escort and protect mission, where the Sniper isn't controlled by a player but escorted to a killing position and the MERCS have to defend him. Or, perhaps the MERCS need to find the Sniper in a building in a certain number of turns to prevent an assassination. Either way, it give us more options.

Upped my pledge to $220. Between the mission pack deal and sniper pack, this has turned into buried in minis territory. Looks like this will be my first half of 2015 painting queue.

When you really really zoom in on the model, you can see he has a knife out. Which makes me feel a little better.

But he's officially the worst sniper ever.

Or the best. If he was Brock Sampson.

The pose is a bit weird I admit. He is a close quarter fighter as well though. As well, all of Sefadu are.

On the Waza note, Waza are actually the worst close combat faction in the game. Crap reactions, no close combat weapons, crappy courage. The spy is half decent in close combat but specializes more in disabling close combat enemies like the assassin. It is one of the things I really like about the game, the Japanese are the opposite of the stereotype.

Well he has a sniper rifle on his back and a knife in his hand, and in the tabletop game Sedafu are stupidly fast and mobile, so my guess is that he shown (silently) fighting his way to sniping position.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

And now just $5K from hitting $600K and adding a whole bunch of stuff,..... including a free expansion for those in on the "All-in Add-on Packs" add-on....

it will be $100 for 6 packs ($155 if purchased separately)

for those at that level,.... it will add 6 minis from the SG, 7 minis in the ISS Mission Pack, and then the Behemoth as well,...

14 more

That will put the $120 pledge mini total @ 111 Minis and a $220 pledge @ 156 Minis
