I decided it was time to have another bash at a more conventional looking Lictor, since my last couple of Tyranid models were a little more non-standard... This was the result: Built mostly from plastic Warrior parts. The feedback I got for my first plastic Lictor largely tended towards the opinion that the arms were too chunky. So this time around, I used Warrior Scytal arms, replacing the Scythes with cut down blades from the Monstrous Creature sprue, and Warrior Deathspitter arms with Genestealer Rending Claws for the Claw arms. I didn't add flesh-hooks to the model, as I don't like the look of the plastic ones, (they stick out too far and look silly) and figure that when not actually in use, they could conceivably just rest inside the chest carapace, where they wouldn't really be visible. As usual, comments and criticisms welcome.

Hi Iain! Brilliant work, as always! Personally, I prefer your first plastic lictor conversion, since it seems somehow "truer" to the original. This one's nice, but seems too "warrior-ish" to me. The first lictor, with a longer tail, and the same rending claws (genestealer ones, right?) as this one would be absolutely perfect... that, or just let your imagination run wild... that would be interesting too.
P.S. I finally got back from Europe, and I love the 'fexes! I'll be posting some painted pictures of them... someday...

Yeah, I prefer the head on the first one myself... I just like to try different ideas to see what works out better.
I'm thinking that next time around, I'll use the arms and tail from this one, with the head and torso from the first one, and see how that goes...

I do prefer the arms on this one over the arms on the lictor that you linked. However, I think I prefer the feel of the body/head of the previous lictor over this new one. It does come off a tad too warriorish (though I suppose fluff-wise, they are supposed to be derived from the same genetic stock). How'd you get the semi "hooded" look with the carapce in the older version? I rather like how that looks. Still...Great model. On a side-note: the more I look at the new Genestealer hands, the more I dislike them.

Very nice job with the head and also with the upper talons. The tail is too short. I like this one more than your first one he looks more like a stealthy hunter the other one is more the rampaging baest category.

I'd drill some small holes in the chest and have tiny barbed tips just inside (since you don't like the pokey out variety) and build some clawed feet (may be hard to cling to a ceiling with cow hooves!) I built a decent set of clawed feet for my 3rd ed tyrant guard-based broodlord out of a few sets of rending claws. I like the head, he looks somewhat like an 'aerodynamic' lictor like a sprinter

Well, he's nice, but I'd rather see this guy's arms on the origianl lictor's body.
How did you make the original guy, anyway? Can't figure out from the photos how you managed to create the 'cowled-hood' look on the upper body of that first guy. Plus, I prefer the subtle modification of the original 'Stealer head more than the 'hybrid' design you've created here though.(although it is good inspiration for my planned Broodlord w/Extended Carapace conversion at some point.)
the use of Devourer arms with 'stealer hands is pure genius btw - think I'll have to make off with that idea myself on my Raveners.

HFJor: How'd you get the semi "hooded" look with the carapce in the older version? I flattened out the top of the existing carapace, added a trimmed-down Carnifex carapace over the top, and then just filled in the sides with Green Stuff. fattdex: I'd drill some small holes in the chest and have tiny barbed tips just inside (since you don't like the pokey out variety) and build some clawed feet (may be hard to cling to a ceiling with cow hooves!) Yeah, I added just the tips of the flesh hooks on the first one... Just wanted something a little less obtrusive on this one. The feet... while it's a valid point, it's worth noting that the official Lictor model also has hooves... Although it does at least have small side claws on them. I'll have a look at that for the next one. Gen_eV: the use of Devourer arms with 'stealer hands is pure genius btw - think I'll have to make off with that idea myself on my Raveners. Yeah, a few people had suggested, back when I posted the first one, that I use the 'stealer rending claw arms... but they're just too weedy to look any good on the warrior body. The Deathspitter arms are more Warrior-sized.

as much as this one looks fine, I think the first one looked much better. to me the lictor is all about the gigantic scything talons, this guy just looks a little to teeny tiny!
