Subject: Been Seeking out oddball tanks-Warchimera Hammer appraisal 1st one built
Stormwall wrote: Whew. I get off the internet for a few days and your blog explodes.
Loving the look of the new captain to standard SM captain comparison. Sorry you had such bad luck with the resin, I was originally looking forward to seeing that assembled but, it appears to be a pain.
Got one assembled, and am doing some tricks on the 2nd Hammer, used some more saw and knife work but I still say the tires will be better as solid pieces.
I do have plastic tube for the wheels so they will be at least better set than the 1st one. Wenht a little faster with assembling the tires and I have the tubes glued in. Still need putty work on those ties.
[/img] [/img]
Now I see some of the clean up issues with the Hammer, it is part of a many project mold, so they are wasting with the heavy sprue and flash much resin in liquid form when they could in fact make the Hammer it's own, cleaned up and better filled technique mold, the kist has so much potential! It deserves a separate mold all it's own! Here we see 15mm scale Sherman track links with the Hammer back doors
[/img]
And a bulkhead light which shows alignmnet of sprue issues.
[/img]
I think Warchimnera is trying to do a lot of projects on simpler sprues, and in the end this bites them on the rump as it diminishes quality of the pours and the finished kits. they would have fewer issues with dedicated molds for each project as it seems they are sculpting/building parts, then making a poured alginate or latex mold, but it would be far better if they made one for the sherman bits, one for the hammer bits, etc.
Valkir captain is awesome! details are good, and the differences show what GW failed to do with SMimho.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Okay, I did manage to work and finish the 2nd Hammer APC and here are the pics to prove it all. I gave it a commander from FW kit I had laying around, and a HB and the cannon it comes with as one of the options.

So, took 2 bases and got both captains of Heay armor to pose at feet on as level a setting as possible. I still say Mark got the height of SM better than GW did!

your APCs are looking pretty awesome. keep it up, man!
Thanks, I am doing the Hammers between doing Valkir so I don't over do it with the things and the 2nd Hammer was a bit less breaking than not.
I will be back onto the scratch APC soon enough. working on ideas for the turret.

Big difference between carapace suits and powered armor suits! they have more parts as they have the tab-bard front/back and side armor for hip protection. They make GW space Marines look kind of small.

Almost done with the 2nd Valkir squad, then back to the building of the 3rd Hammer, then I can work on the APC as well as some of the internal build/painting of the Hanomag.

i really like these valkirs, they have, with the knights heads a strong stargate vibe to them so i think these would also be great as some more modern looking thousand sons stand in...
if these were my models i would have used only the knight helmets as the others are too german sturmhelm looking for my own taste...
they are also from a models kind of perspective a very good stand in for a grey knight chapter...
and i liked your review about the warchimera stuff...did you send them your review?...it is very insightful and detailed...

hey Vik, I was tying them into the other Eisenkern with the Sturmhelm, squad leaders get the knight helm as a sign of their achievement so to speak. My Command squad are all Knight Helms, and many are looking to use these minis as Grey Knight stand ins as they look so good!
I had them link my blog to their website. I have n idea if they have looked yet, or how well are not they may have taken my insights. I have one more Hammer to clean up and assemble. Then I can prime and paint them as a group.

i know that you already have a vast amount of the eisenkern troops on your shelf ...
well... i actuall think it might be worthwhile to send them the whole review as an email... that might draw their attention much stronger than your thread link... i doubt that someone in customer care would click a link......but i dunno how life is out there where FB is still used...^^
GrimDork wrote: That stargate comment has me considering them... to bad they have giant power swords and shields... i'd have to make my own staff weapons
The Valkyir definitely have a more appealing (to me) space/future look, especially with the knight helmets.
I placed the shields on, they are optional. Just the big 2-hander swords. and some with pistol wielding on top of the honking huge swords, then there are the heavy weapons of doom, tacticals have two different rifles flamers and Grenade launchers Plenty of head choices.
2nd Valkir squad made last night. PzKpfAzg Mk-Id (PanzerKampfAnzug Mk-1d) Powered armor Heavy Infantry Unit total of 30 strong!

Are there three or just two kinds? MM has 3 sets but one of them is a 20 man set. Do they come in: 5-man assault 5-man heavy 20-man normal?
Or is there no normal for them? You seem to have regular rifles that aren't super heavy or anything.
Oh answered my own question.. the 'Heavy Troopers' box is the standard, as they actually are heavy troopers, its not a heavy support box. That's the support box Sense has been made! I dunno these really aren't too bad, and only 2-3 bucks a pop at 3rd party etailers.
You may be swaying me on these Shas... Of course I still don't like most of the guns. I'm still thinking making a few Goa'uld inspired weapons and casting them could yield neat results

Yep 5-man close combat for command
5 man heavy support
20 man regulars. And a decent price per man as the heavy armored types are a model kit unto themselves, as were the storm troopers in their light carapace, but a better deal per man than the GW stormies,,,,er, storm sons?
You would also have to make the staff weapons conform to the arms they come with. Make for an interesting project. I just consider the rifles a different patter bolt-gun, same for the pistols.
Paint? I still have a Hammer, a Hanomag, and that scratch build to finish, then I can paint!

Mine has been getting more and more organized into a tower over a mountain. A dark tower... full of slave labor, pain, and misery.... Or a really nicely stacked set of boxes containing hours and hours of fun! Depends on the day

Okay, the Hanomag has gone smoothly so far, i then remembered that folks may want pics! well, it went so smooth that I got this much done and realized, I need to stop and commit to paint the interior, and the crew. Then I can glu the reactor, front to it
Interior, the pieces show are retractable map reading tables, or mission plotting bits, so if they bend their heads and shoulders, they can actually go over information, and there may even be communications devices hidden in at least one of the cubby-holes above.
[/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
With care, the doors work!
[/img] [/img] [/img]
The hood and windshield
[/img]
Dry fit to the rest of the Hanomag
[/img]
Removed the front
[/img]
Over all so far, the plastic is durable and thick, but the engineering is sound and as can be seen , if fits together very nicely! Interior working move, doors and hood moves, I must say that this model is very impressively done! Dwartists' blog already did a full step-by-step and he did great justice to the one he worked on, which also shows up on the sides of the box! Now or some sleep, and then to use a pale green, or off white for the interior?

Off white would be sweet for the interior.
Hmmm, but the blue looks almost police like, LOL. But yeah, I know, and that the state in FMA is pretty German seeming, or a hint at Valkyria Chronicles, But Gallia was in the spot Belgium sits on their altered world map.
I have almost half a dozens shades of off white, some are bone colors and leather colors. BUT it also means that a white primer would be more useful for the insides.

Now to add confusion is linen white
[/img] [/img]
Now the green tint that is in competition, it is kind of close to "rotting flesh" by GW [/img] [/img]

Subject: Re:Been Seeking out oddball tanks-Mad Robot Rescue Team/Hammers and SWM 6x6 are here!
After delays, I finally got several shipments all at once! The Rescue Team
[/img] [/img]
The Jovian Hammers, good back up team, and they have some characterful heads
[/img] [/img]
My safety edge showed up earlier than expected, It is British made Maun metal
[/img]
SWM 6x6 also showed up, it has some parts needing clean up, but far less than the Hammer APCs much better resin used.
[/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
Solid well poured tires are better than brittle 2 part tires
[/img]
details are good and I thought this material was what Warchimera was offering based on the images they use to sell the Hammer.
[/img] [/img]
Plus a ton of metal weapons options
[/img]
I must say that Warchimera has some lessons to be learned regarding making minis for sale. Quality is key, dedicated molds, solid tires are better than the 2-part things they make for the Hammer. The Hammer has great potential, it just is not getting in my opinio0n the love it needs from the guys at Warchimera.

Bloody hell Shas did you rob a bank how much stuff that APC is dreadful mate I would have sent it back the amount of cleanup and poor casting is just poor
The rest is pretty nice especially the Dreamforge stuff I have a ton of stuff to be done from the Kickstarter, nice to see them together though
The SWM APC is a pretty nice model but getting stuff from them costs me a bomb due to custom charges so I avoid them now.
As for MRM I think I have pretty much everything he has released so far, just love the stuff and the Jovians are just so cool
