Managed a bit of toy time! Didn't get too much done, did fiddle with this....



I got a pic of it too, you beat me to the punch however!



It wasn't socks! It was a Russ!



Mostly in good nick but a few irritating bits here and there..the turret 'shelf' bit is missing and in it's place is a hinged thingy, fortunately in popped right off..



The little box thingy is missing as is the exhaust stacks too..those flamer tanks again readily came off..



The hull mount is glued solid but the lascannon got chopped off ok and replaced with the 'new' HB minus the back plug, I'll GS in the gaps later...



The little view port is missing too so I was wondering about a heavy stubber to cover over the missing bit, only got this one from the Shadowsword box but it might be ok, any thoughts?



I was toying about with an alternative for the missing back bits, here I'm trying two heavy flamers as smoke stacks and a Chimera plate to cover them up, not sure I can get away with this, might be able to bits order something but the only bits I found were £12 postage (from USA) and £1.50 for the component, maybe not that one then. Will wait and see if bits and kits get/got any but their site is down at the mo.



Possible configuration..let me know what you think. I managed a tiny bit on the 'bots too, will post that up later..

Yes I think it will scrub up lovely, I'm toying with the idea of building a turret shelf thing out of plasticard but that kind of thing is always much more fiddly than it looks...

If you have or can find the Imex chemical plant they have some good tanks and pipes you can put in the back, make it look like a makeshift repair from local parts.

Oh that's a cool kit, not aware of it before. Yes I will be keeping a look out for something I can press into service. I like the idea of a makeshift repair as it fits the theme well.

Just be sure when you are making repairs to not offend the machine spirit. We’re not orks looting here!

If you're looking at bits sites then perhaps the engine block from the back of a dreadnought would work?
They are a little rounded at the corners so maybe box that out a bit but the size would be about right.

I'm not shy of a few worms (sounds very wrong). I did cross my mind that a dread power supply would work, I don't have a spare one so I'm still looking at bits ordering, bits and kits whom I normally get stuff through are out of stock at the moment so I will have to wait for a while. Their restock notification emails are going to my spam for some reason even though I keep okaying them? Annoying. I will check any plans with the attendant machine spirit to ensure good dice rolls.

The bases have had sand added ready for painting and the guns finished...



So they are just needing detailing and weathering (and basing). Another wash of brown will take down the chalkyness of the drybrushing and a good amount of chipping and a bit of rust should finish them off. An idea by MLCS was to paint on an acronym such as 'O.G.R.N.’ to be a nod to their origin, which I like a lot as an idea but I don't feel wild about painting it 7 times. I would also need to come up with a meaning like: Oversized Gun Robotic Nutter for example.



Still unsure whether to do hazard stripes on Vince the Pince's pincer. I think it might be OK heavily scratched up.

That will be all the new pics till next year as I'm away till like the 3rd, my kid came down with (chicken) Pox yesterday (thanks Nurgle, great timing) but I will still check here and be available for gak jokes and childish innuendo.

I'm back from away as of yesterday, will hope to do a bit of modeling soon, maybe tomorrow, provided I don't get lured into playing Eternal Crusade.

+1 for doing some more modelling, I'd prefer hourly updates if possible.
I'm stuck here on a terrible island off the coast of Africa without a Daily Star or White Dwarf in sight and naught but mojitos to drink so could use some amusement. X

Yes! Glad you got them off ebay, I'm finding it less and less useful for bitz these days, lots of the sellers seem to have shut down.

Festive period was acceptable yes, quiet, managed to get some kits of my own built after a long dry spell of disinterest. Feels like the hobby fu is back at last.

May have to start one of these blog things as well! Definitely interested in 30k now. Can do it on the cheap(er) now with the cults and militia lists and the (amazing) Army of Dark Compliance list (a hybrid list of scummy chaos guard types and legion troops).

So in an effort to save Alex from cocktails and sunshine, here's a bit more hot robot action:



I've added chipping using the sponge method.



Especially to their fists. Sponging on the boltgun works well and is much quicker than drybrushing/painting chips.



I've now added a targeted (ie not all over) wash of Argax Earthshade to weather them...



And continued with the basing..



I'm going to do another wash of Reikland Flesh next..



Then probably some light orange stippling, but only a whisper. Still toying with the idea of stripes on the pincer....

I hope to finish these guys off soon as they have been a bit of a log jam in the painting inbox as they took a lot of time to build/convert and paint, even with a quick scheme. I think I will do the 'counts as' Hydra next and maybe finish the modeling on the new Russ as my components should be arriving early next week. I gave up on waiting for 'Bits and Kits' to restock and found a few guys on eBay who could sell me a few odds and sods.

I was only thinking of doing stripes on pincer of the boss one, which is indeed the B.O.N.E head (on all of them would feel too 'Iron Warriory'), I've a shot of him nearly complete..presto!



Seen here with the 2nd wash and some light orange stippling, the base is nearly done and needs a few more tufts and some static grass. So do you think the stripes would work on him? Hopefully I get an opportunity to finish them off tonight, fingers crossed..

Managed to order these exhausts off eBay and a couple of barrels just to fill the space where the box thing is supposed to go..



Couldn't be bothered trying to build a replacement turret box thingy so have just mounted the smoke launcher there, Tanks often have variant turrets so this isn't too immersion crashing..



Mounted Stormlord heavy stubber on roof to cover missing periscope bit, I wanted one with a stubber anyway.

This puppy is being sprayed black now so I don't have to look at that camo anymore...then a quick paint up and that will be Russ No.5.

Yeah, they are always getting stabbed (shot, evaporated, eviscerated, flensed, disintegrated and privatised) so it might add 30 secs to his life expectancy to cower on the back of a AV12/10/10 open topped vehicle. I will glue him on.

Yes lots of my stuff has been rehabilitated from eBay wreaks, I quite enjoy it really. Both my SM and IG have huge sections of donated/found/ebay rescued models.

Took longer than I planned but we go there in the end. Vince the Pince ready to put the clamps on baddies. I think they've come out alright.







Looking forward to smashing them into things, in the right circumstances they can be pretty devastating with a potential total of 8 STR5 attacks/shots/HoW each in a turn. Glad to put them in the done pile too, doing all 7 at once felt like a big job even though they are basically speed painted. Hopefully I will manage to squeeze a bit in tonight as I'm going to have visitors for a while soon and probably won't be able to do much toys.

Thanks! Had to google that Mech and I thought I knew them all (ish), yes it does!

The visor is literally just Vallejo Black, it dries to the glossiest finish ever. I was going to paint something on but realised I just didn't need to. I'm pleased with the weathering too, it came out a bit better than expected, just some sponging and ink washes but it's effective.
