I made an oil fuelled power station in Tekkit once. It had 4 turbines. I tested a single one and it produced about 512 EU per second when the combustion engine was running at green. I made a vid about it on youtube, actually. And it was mega-efficient. It kept itself fed and could be turned on and off by just 4 switches (I used a hell of a lot of wireless transmitters/receivers. About 20 per turbine, I think).
Currently attempting to put together a homebrew non-canon Space Marine chapter. If I can be bothered to getting around to painting the models and putting the things together of course...
Thanks Dark, will give it a look. And for generators, the best possible one is a condenser creating coal funneled to an array of Generators. Free, risk-free, more efficient than a full-power Nuclear Plant, and more compact too. Only downside is noise.

You sure? My power plant produces nearly 2048 EU per second at maximum output. With just 4 turbines. And it is also very quiet. Near silent, actually, as it uses a lot of engines to do the work. Engines make zero noise, and refineries make next to nothing. If you want to look at the video, here's the link. I apologize in advance for the atrocious sound; I don't have a very good quality microphone.
I'm worried I'll get a lot of stick for this.

I couldn't tell you, it wasn't calculated out because I'm lazy I linked it through an energy link and used a compressor and then stuck a max-sized quarry to the end, and the quarry was still at maximum speed.

I just spent a long time reworking the aesthetics of one of the six mountains in my new area... It's a lot more work to do that than one might think, as I was dealing with farms, water, and all four walls plus floor and ceilings in all the rooms -.-
Ah well. It's done now. Need to build to the fifth mountain soon.

I've been demolishing houses (with permission, of course) and stilling water. You know when you destroy a block around y=63 and the sea beneath it means it won't flow properly? So annoying.

Does anyone here use tekkit? If so i need help with a conundrum, i was walking along a beach when a crocodile decides to take a chomp on me and now my game is stuck in 3rd person instead of 1st person view...... is there a key i can press to go back to first person as its made minecraft a heck of a lot harder to do.
Lots of people here use Tekkit. They keep bugging me about it, too.
Ask them.
We don't use Tekkit on the server though-- it's a Dakka server, and they don't want any more instability than normal for minecraft.

does tekkit have Mo Creatures now?
Oh, and I play both technic and tekkit (less oten, though), so...
But that has NEVER happened to me before, I mean the stuck-in-3rd-person thing, so I'm guessing it's a bug

I used to use Tekkit/Technic pack. Granted it is easier to get a bunch of mods working together but it doesn't really allow for any changes. I quite like the forestry mod which is now no longer included so I pretty much have installed (probably) all the Technic mods and alot more manually and its working pretty well. I think I have 47 mods running together atm.
