Just because I could, really, I don't use diamond gear out of practicality, and I doubt this method will change that.
There's so much crap to play around with, and I haven't even gotten to the weird/stupid stuff like equivalent exchange...

GLaD to see you're enjoying it, Mel. I recommend a mining laser, set it to scatter and you have a shotgun. :Laser shotgun.

Turns out it was ungenerated chunks, but when they generated, they made a rather nice caldera. It could easily be made into a volcano with little effort:
that little ledge looks like it would be prefect for a human/villager scarifice ledge
Well, in TECHNIC (only because it got updated recently )
I've made a nuclear reactor.
I'm so sure that it won't blow up I built it under my house!
hasn't even reached a heat level of 5 yet!
But I really can't wait to built a quantum suit, and a swiftwolf ring.
Void Armour is ok... but lacks any nice abilities...

But I've encountered a problem, How do you make a MCedit file, I tried the extract chunks but it didn't work?
If you want to save the whole world, MCEdit just saves it to the world you're working on. If you mean a schematic file that you can import into other worlds, click the crane icon I believe. Check the MCEdit thread on the Minecraft forums for the basics.

I'm using a musket right now. It's fun.
Also!
Got a quarry up and working.
Spoiler:
Sure it's slow (two combustion engines powering it), but hey, it's done pretty good work so far in the time I spent trying to find more tin myself.
It's currently harvesting a volcano, so it'll probably get stopped by lava at some point, although I've already taken most of the lava out.
Automatically Appended Next Post: My quarry just 'sploded... :/

It has redstone, furnace, and oil based ones. Forgot their names.
I have managed to get combustion to work without exploding though. You need to input water as well as oil, which is bothersome, but eh.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I managed to get a fairly compact (such as it is) redstone engine based quarry working. I'll have to refine it later-- needs 64 redstone engines at red in order to obtain max speed.
Once I manage to get it as compact as possible I'll post a screenshot. I've spent way too long working on this lol...

try refining oil into fuel, it's better.
When I do use combustion engines, I usually have them set up as a power station, well away from my expensive quarries.
But since I usually play Technic, not Tekkit, I use Medium Solar Arrays and Electrical Engines
I did, that's how I powered those combustion engines.

I already sort of got bored of it after about 20 minutes. The part of it I liked was finding the castles and raiding them. Then making them my own base, but I don't seem to come across any.
I suppose it would also be better multiplayer than single, it's sort of the set up plus being singleplayer that mostly stops me from starting anything up. Just too dull.
I don't really have problems powering them anymore. Was more me experimenting.

I've managed to make my oil turbine really compact. Before it was about 13x7x10 (l,w,h), but now it's only 5x5x12.
Ultra compact. Provides a lot of energy as well. But it requires a gakload of engines to run. But string 'em up in a long row and I got 16384EU/t out of them.
Mass fabricator.

Currently attempting to put together a homebrew non-canon Space Marine chapter. If I can be bothered to getting around to painting the models and putting the things together of course...
See, I did Technic before the launcher, and pretty much went through most of it. Now I'm focusing on Thaumcraft.
I don't need no Mass Fabricator, when I have Thaum-powered autofarms feeding Energy Condensers and Thaumium Crucibles. There's also a little 'cheat' between EE and Thaumcraft- most items are about equivalent in Smelting and EMC to make or break down, except Slime Balls. They cost very few EMC, but smelt for a ton, meaning you can use them to make Vis to make something cheaper (like sugarcane or something) to make more Slimeballs, and essentially make free magic.
Also working with Railcraft (anyone else do anything interesting) but need moar rails, and need to figure out a way to get it set up all automaticall.

While sure it was in creative, but I made a solar powered massfab which produced a UU-Matter every second. Had a pump putting them in to a personal safe, nearly filled it up while messing about with quarries, heh.
I need to start a pure-ish (aside from rubber, because rubber trees are way too rare) survival game on this to see how it plays out.

They allow you to hook up industrialcraft power such as solar panels to a quarry in order for it to work quite quickly indeed...
So basicaly it's the electrical engine of tekkit? Oh, I just watched a yogscast video with that in it, apparently you should not connect energy pipes to it as it wastes power (something like instead of supplying the power the machine that's connected to the pipes needs, it supplys as much power as the pipe will hold or something like that)
Anyone seen Direwolf20's SMP videos? while they don't use tekkit, they use many of the dev builds of the major mods in it + others (Gravisuit, Forestry, etc) Yeah, someone made a auto solar array placer that places high voltage solar arrays, and he has a machine that makes high voltage solars from uu... Made so much energy it was producing about 1 uu every 3 milliseconds, or something like that... He planned to make a 64x64 of High Voltage Solars...
