This house seems to have some sort of griefing device set up. http://www.darkinnit.com/dakkamap/#/-2068/64/738/max/0/0 When you enter through the portal in the Nether, there's a trap door above a very high drop and a pit. This door has frequently been open, including times when I've used it. The portal is also in a very public place in the Nether, in the middle of a public hallway. I think that we should require this door in the floor in front of it to be removed. EDIT I doubt that this is actually griefing, but it seems pretty close for someone to be creating surprise traps that can easily kill people in public places.

Its not a Surprise Trap, its a 'Netherrack Mine' in lack of a better term. There is a ladder all the way down the drop to the bottom, where there is a large open area to dig away.
Although I must admit, the door could use being closed a little more often. Also, it is not in the middle, its off to the side, so if you are falling down it after coming through the portal, you are doing it wrong.

If you want, I could show you my own mining area- one of the Dwarven Cities being built. Carving massive caverns out from bedrock generally yields a lot of cobble.

You mean the house that you've still yet to remove your shack from? People are permitted to trap their homes up as much as they like if they don't want people to be in certain places. It their land, so others don't really have the right to moderate what they do with it, unless it breaks any of the server rules.

I'm fine with that, but there needs to be some sort of warning in the nether before people go through the portal.

I never fell through it. If someone builds a portal and doesn't say that there's a danger, that's griefing. Legally, in a real world situation something like this would be considered murder. You are not allowed to use deadly traps to protect property.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

This is minecraft! *kicks someone into a dark pit* Plus In my house I have a switch that activates the floor and you fall to your death as lava is poured all over you at the same time. Minecraft politics are more about "HEY YOUR HOUSE IS ON MY PROPERTY!" *goes around destroys all the torches and surrounds said person's house with obsidian* Thats minecraft politics. Also question! Anyone wanna donate some wood to me? I will give you ice blocks! (Also i am currently working on getting my internet back on my PC so I Will be back on tuesday, a week with out minecraft D: How tragic!) Some Birch would be nice. I am currently in need of it for my floor designs.

That isn't the important bit. I bolded the important bit but apparently that wasn't enough for you.
Get the feth over it and move the feth on.
Does it need to be multi-coloured? Because I will painstakingly colour each individual letter a different colour if that was the only way of getting this message through to you. THAT is the kind of person I am; I will go the extra mile in order to advise and educate people I could not otherwise care less about, because in doing so it creates a better community for everyone.
So you have a choice here, and I'm going to give it to you straight:
You can either keep moaning about it, keep on saying how it'd be illegal in real life and how XYZ must be done because you said so.
OR
You can get up, dust yourself off, and, as I advised above, move on.
One of these decisions will not get you your stuff back, but neither will they make you friends nor will they contribute to a better community. The other decision will not get your stuff back, either, at least not right away, however it WILL make you friends and contribute to community cohesion, and in moving on, you can not only learn where you shouldn't go from your past experiences, but you will also be able to regain what you had before you lost it.
This is your choice, however there is no way around it. I have advised you as best I can on what to do, but ultimately, it's you who will decide what your experience on the server will be. You've seen the choices; you know what each one will bring. Choose.
