I couldn't manage to have the players/spawns display, so I couldn't see if anyone was nearby. Right now the whole interface has dissapeared from the map for me though (it may just be the computer which I'm on).

Hey guys, although it still has a long way to go yet I'm trying to decide how to top my tower. I'm toying between the ideas of an 'Eye of Sauron' style topper, or a crystal of precious material (Lapis, Emerald, Redstone) held between two pillars.
Just wondering if anyone had any ideas for it as it'll be the crowning glory of phase one construction

I'm not bothered about anyone taking sand. I just prefer if someone tells me that they're building when they're around 200 blocks from my own house thing. There's a portal in my basement if you need to travel there, just don't drown yourself and try not to take any sand around the immediate area of my fort. =P

I'd definitely like it if some of the larger holes on the map weren't generated until after the new stone update- seems a lot easier to just have a community strip mine for the stuff instead of burning through Quartz for it.
GENERATION 8: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

Agreed. We need to all work together. I have a full chest full of quartz,
ALSO COMMUNITY UPDATE: PLease do not break quartz ore unless you have fortune 3! We should not generate anymore parts of the nether or the world. Strip mine the nether!
Also let us all come to an agreement to share the new stone locations and connected parts of the world with the nether hub!
PLease do that because its annoying to have to travel a 1000 blocks for a stack of stuff

Not really. Remember, most people go in straight lines- I'd imagine a 'full' map would look something like the spokes of a wheel, with big triangular gaps all over the place.
The trick is just to find the newly generated chunks after the update- and there's a bunch of non-gen'd chunks in-map already.

Fairly sure I live like 200 blocks or so from the edge of the map it's fun on the extreme of civilization XD

You may live near the edge of the map we can see, but doesn't mean people haven't explored beyond the edge of it, it's just that the map doesn't generate beyond about 4000 blocks out. When the player markers showed up on the map a while back there were people further out than you or I to the West, so we might find many pre-generated chunks out that way when the next update comes
