I didn't know that was a thing.

Still a gakky deal. Kind of ruins the whole premise for me setting up shop there.

It could even happen if you were on but down in a mine or something. If anyone is near enough to make the chunks load you can run into the problem of mobs spawning in places where you don't want them.

Now I know. I might just move shop to somewhere prettier.

Maybe settle down on my own island.

So you no longer live there? Does anyone live there then? Can I take any leftovers in the chests? And why on earth did you leave such spectacular place?

I was so lazy that I portaled back, used the portal to go to the original spawn, found a lava pool nearby, mined 10 Obsidian, and built a new portal in the Nether.

I probably could have walked back and forth to my base twice (where I had obsidian) during the time I did my roundabout adventure.

No, I've left for good. Nobody else lives there atm, so anyone is welcome to visit and use the place. Its close to the spawn zone so we might as well use it as a community shelter, for new players. I've got big farms, and there are lots of chasms and caves in the area.

I have got a few things left that I mean to keep and I'm logging in now to collect them. Feel free to use whatever resources are left over.

I left the area because building in such a flat monochrome biome gets very boring and I wanted a change of scenery. I now have an even more spectacular place.

Sorry, I've almost completely cleaned the place out.

There is a few enchanted leather and gold armour pieces though, and farms for cows, chickens, sheep, sugarcane, melon and pumpkin.

In't there a Zombie spawner too? If someone wanted to fix that up into a proper grinder it'd probably not go amiss.

Too fancy? Uh, yeah, I'd say so. That would be great for nether tunnels though.

Heres my idea of a road. Your version puts mine to shame.

Yeah, I know that, but I prefer things to be over the top where they can be. Hell its not as if at the moment I can put the effort into to actually build that, so I guess that plan's a little moot (that nether brick pole outside my fort thing is actually there to be the base for a floating island, but I can't bother myself to build that either right now, well bar outside Creative).

My version of a road is less fancy than yours but still more fancy than Edithae's. Also it won't burn down if some idiot sets a fire, and it's more resistant to creepers.

Wow, thats really nice.

I think it would be a little OTT for the overworld anyway. Nether roads need to be covered because of Ghasts, but the overworld doesn't have that problem.

But hey, if you want to spend the time on a nice road like that go for it

I appreciate a nice road or bridge. Actually, I like them more than I do nice buildings, I admit.

In Minecraft, it feels more impressive to have a nice set of roads and bridges connecting good looking buildings than to have just awesome looking buildings.

I like that design but it would take forever to do that. On Survival.

So your awesome designs don't go to waste you can always use it for covered bridges or areas in any towns/cities you build.

One thing I've found in my building- Go over-the-top with the detail and size (and size helps give more detail) right from the start. You can always tear something out and make it smaller, but it becomes very hard to fit something bigger into your scheme after the fact- and though it takes time and resources to build, so that you don't have it done and up immediately. But as you build it, it won't go anywhere. Even if you're invaded by dozens of creepers, they can't blast the whole thing down, and they can't ever destroy your plans. And by the time it's all finished? You'll have something awesome.

I had considered that it has more style than substance when building it. A brick wall around it would help, but that'd turn it into.... well a brick wall. The wood's there to contrast the stone, and really how often is someone going to run up there with a tinder box (I mean the type that Darkinnit couldn't just reset the chunk for)? Meh, if I can sort out my computer issues then right now I have three months of my life to burn on creative projects (uh, other than painting that mound of terrain I have sitting unbuilt for Fallout that is).

Ah, and I already have a nether tunnel (slightly modified to be fancier than the beta design that I should yonks ago).

I quite like to use carpenter's blocks for roads. With the collapsible blocks it allows you to make quite nice slopes, especially if you set the boxes so they are as smooth as possible (I think that's 25 in the config).

So have half slabs been changed to where mobs can spawn on them?

They shouldn't allow spawns. Perhaps you have an overhang or something else that's causing them. If there's any spawnable surface that's light level 7 or lower you can bet it'll do just that sooner or later.

I thought that upside-down half slabs now allow spawns?

Also, Zombies have much longer pathing now than before- they can follow you in- plus, the whole "Zombies spawn when another Zombie takes damage" thing allows the new ones to spawn anywhere- even on non-spawnable blocks. So if there's any Zombies being pushed off ledges underground, there's chances for zombies to spawn up in your temple.

Hmmm, there are slabs which are at normal block height in there. And its hollow of course.

Well I'm (re) building the East Tunnel in the Nether. The current version is rather incomplete and not exactly award winning in its looks. I have claimed an island in the sea, and have reignited a portal for the Mushroom Island in the ocean.

All of these things will be connected via nicely done stone brick tunnels with half slab floors. Donations accepted.

I was originally going to do the East tunnel, but I've been slacking on that. Go right ahead. I got some Netherbrick if you want it.

Ah right, I've seen your name on the wall for the tunnel from 0,0. I've been building backwards from my new portal to the island, but I'm only building a 2 wide tunnel, by 3 (and a half), with predominantly stone brick. If you have any ideas to jazz it up, let me know and I'll be happy to work it in if you help with the resources.

Ah. Alright then, so you're mostly just 'safe-ify'ing it. Cool. Yeah, I got a super-fancy idea, I just gotta implement it. If you have a bunch of Netherwrack, smelt that up and the netherbrick will be used, if you wanna donate that.
