Don't know what biome they could bring out. But yeah I know that pain, my house has a machine to make the beacon there shimmer different colours (purple, pink and teal cycling between them) looks nice, but drops FPS to 15 while it's on.
Heh, my game caps itself at 60 FPS in every area bar there (not sure if there's a way to get the full 120, but I'm not sure if there'd be a point). ...I was kind of shocked to see it suddenly dip into the low 50s and then finally to the 20s in the chunk (I wonder how bad the modded game would be, I guess don't run the game on max settings).

Yeah...a lot going on at Spawn. I'll take some of the blame for that.
There should be actual settings for FPS lock in the in-game settings menu.
Spawn's laggy because of both the number of entities around (we've got active cow and pig farms, and 2 automatic chicken makers [not live chickens, but raw and cooked], along with an iron farm, a villager breeder/trading center, cactus farm, horse stables, sheep farm, the endermites at the portal, etc) and because there's a lot of automated equipment as well- melon and pumpkin farms, and I'm sure some stuff hidden away.
Also, a few people have their own bases relatively close by. It's just a very busy place.

I'm not sure about most of the area, but that walled in area with a spot of yellow in the bottom right corner was dinohunters area and the squid farm I built for him. When dino ragequit he returned ownship of the squid farm to me.
Looks like a pretty cool base... if it's unclaimed, what did you have in mind for it, Gangsta? It's fairly near Spawn, right? Might be good to turn into a group project of some kind (I'm in, if so).

I'm open to group project ideas. For the time being, I was mostly just interested in the diorite and quartz building in the bottom corner. XD
I'd like to know who has erected the nether portal in sight range of my castle without (a) any surrounding building or (b) asking me. Because honestly, there's a nether portal within 20 blocks of that one. Ah well, more obsidian cladding for my house.
It feels like they really abandoned furnace carts since they added power rails. Which sucks, cause I'd rather have the carts able to connect and be pulled/pushed along like a train, not like a rollercoaster.
Literally two things would make furnace carts a viable alternative again- 1 is that they be directional- have them have a 'front' and 'back' and have them always travel towards the 'front' no matter which side the fuel is put in. If you want, have Activator rails turn them around. (or have them travel towards the side you put fuel in, so you can use them for personal transport- right now, they go away from the side of fueling).
Second, is to have them be able to fuel up via a hopper above them. That would be incredible for automatic systems.

I'd rather they even update it with a new ridable option to the furnace cart then remove how empty carts can be moved or make it move faster. Add in all that stuff and being able to connect carts and they would be pretty much done I think. Basically make them more like trains.
You've reminded me of a vid I want to make. I'd like to put together a little 'homage' to the furnace cart, show how useful it can be in early-game mining.
I've discovered for myself just how awesomely fast you can mine out entire areas when you have a couple mobile carts to take your stuff back with- add in depth and the ability to push multiple chest carts during the Iron age...

minecarts are great and all that, but I just learned we'll be able to turn off the weather cycle It will never rain again in any of my games
but back to minecarts, if you stack to many of them in one spot, or any entity, they will suffocate you. e>24 = death. I think this could lead to some interesting mob farms.
Where's the best or closest XP farm from spawn? For some reason I remember there being a good wither skeleton one in the nether but for the life of me I can't seem to find it.

there's a blaze farm to the east, it's hard to find since the area got remodeled to allow wither skeletons to spawn. the best one is still the gold farm I built to the west, you get plenty of gold and emeralds if you want to trade the zombie meat, along with lots of quick xp.

I also just realised the new redstone thing, would be able to compact my automatic melon farm I think, even tho part of its detection also harvests it. Something new to mess around with maybe, least it'd use stone instead of iron and make it cheaper overall if iron matters to people.

I did, for emeralds. If it's causing any problems (or anyone thinks it's causing any problems) I'll get rid of it as I've got plenty of emeralds now. I don't know if crops use much processing power but there's just over 10,000 in the farm.
I sell carrots, potatoes, melons and pumkins from a previously hidden farm to village farmers for emeralds. They pay pretty well, though I farm manually, no automation, so it takes a while.
Though I am concerned that thousands of growing plants might affect some folks considering a few hundred chickens can cause problems for some people.
Also, anyone know what happened to LordBean's place? The room with all the valuable loot looks like it has been blown up by several kegs of dynamite (since it destroyed cobblestone) and several rooms seem to have caught fire.
