Getting a black screen on a new game start? That's what happens to me. It has something to do with the xr_motivator script.
If the modified version is copied over to the gamedata folder you get the crash. If you don't copy it there's no crash, but the NPCs don't move. So you are screwed either way.
Oddly enough, the AMK derived mods, such as Oblivion Lost and Zone of Alienation, works relatively perfectly.

DS2 feels, at the same time, more and less fluid than DS1. I think I liked how DS1's combat flowed more, but at the same time, heavy armor poise isn't blatantly overpowered, and weapons meant for two hands are better balanced agaisnt their one-handed use in terms of attack speed.
Does feel like I'm going through a boss a minute at times, though. More mini-bosses is fun, though, so I'm not complaining. The minibosses do feel like they don't have much variation though, while the main bosses have plenty.

One thing i'll always miss about westwood/petroglyph that most RTS's don't have is the super-weapons. The nuke NOD used in the original C&C game was tear inducing for both players. A massive "F You' to the one on the receiving end.
The only Westwood RTS games I played were their Dune games, and I miss the superweapons, too. Playing as House Atreides was fun, right up until you heard the computer interface say "Death Hand missile launch detected" and you had to rebuild a third of your base...
Supreme Commander has super weapons as well.
No fancy message, but they do exist.
Total Annihilation had superweapons as well... and superweapon interceptors.
I never played it seriously, but I did muck around with it a bit against my brother. Neither one of us really knew what we were doing, so he built a half dozen or so nuclear missiles. And unbeknownst to him, I'd discovered the nuclear missile interceptors, and had built several of those.
He later told me he watched in shock as his missiles flew toward me on his radar... and then just vanished.
And in SupCom, you had defense against long-ranged arty, too, in the form of bubble shields.

SupCom had nuke interceptors, too, but nothing to defend against game-ending experimentals without going and destroying them.
I'm currently trying to actually finish a Rome: TW campaign so I can get access to the other factions without cheating them in. People say it's easy and exploitable, but I'm finding that it's fairly inconsistent at times, like when I wrecked a hoplite army with my cavalry by tempting them out, unit by unit, with one cavalry, and charging them in the rear with the other and insta-breaking them, or quickly pulling back and repeating. The next time I tried that, the hoplite unit ate the charge up their arse, took single-figure casualties, annihilated half the unit that charged them in half a second as they turned around, and practically insta-broke them. No hoplite unit in that force suffered any significant damage from the rear charges I performed, even with my Generals. I might as well have been charging a phalanx head on.
Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.
Excerpt from "Seeress of Kell", Book Five of The Malloreon series by David Eddings.
"You need not fear us, unless you are a dark heart, a vile one who preys on the innocent; I promise, you can’t hide forever in the empty darkness, for we will hunt you down like the animals you are, and pull you into the very bowels of hell." Iron - Within Temptation
Supcom was great with the superweapon balancing, because they were 'really' super weapons in the traditional sense. They were more just strategic level weapons, with as many counters as anything else.
The things that had the same role as super weapons in other RTSs were the 'game ender' units that were there to basically force an end to a stalemate. If you managed to build one and deploy it, or built it and got it destroyed quickly, it generally decided the game one way or another.
They include an Unlimited Resource Generator building, rapid firing nuclear launcher, an artillery pice that ignores shields and rapid firing artillery.

I can't afford 150 bucks (including 50 for the game), so that's a moot point.

Yeah...
Ok, maybe I will try one of the other ones.
You could try oblivion lost. It's a modified version of AMK, with a few changes.
Oh, another mod - LURK
This is an odd one. It doesn't change that much of the game world, but it does change how weapons work, the weight cap, removed artifact effects (only use is selling now) and is supposed to improve the stealth mechanics.

I'm not saying you should go for the biggest one, I was just pointing out that the cost per GB for HDD's really isn't much anymore these days.
Oh I don't disagree, just saying it's an additional cost ot the game regardless.

Stalker: Lost Alpha. Due to the lack of traders and how much loot you can find this is how my average conversation with an NPC goes:
NPC: "Stalker listen up I have this super important mission to give you that you must listen to carefully and act on immediately"
Me: "Oh that's all well and good my man, but first would you be interested in buying some of this premium vodka or ammunition?"
Yeah good mod so far. It doesn't play like the vanilla game so much in that it comes across as being faster paced (or at least less faffing about with side quests). I'm still toting about in the starting gear for the most part, though I'm hoping when I reach Agropom I can finally get a better suit. Finding an AK-74 with a scope felt surprisingly good, especially given how easy it is to find decent gear in the vanilla games (I have three clips for the thing, I think that makes me the richest guy in the Zone).

Now get hyped.
Also, MUSIC BY FRANK KLEPACKI YEEEAH.
I am really liking this game based on what I saw on their website. The example match made it look a lot like a smaller scale Supreme Commander, which is great. I love the idea of a moving HQ building/resource extractor. It really fits the theme of the faction. And the music was pretty awesome.

Rapidly on path to becoming the world's youngest bitter old man.
Finished up Darksiders II, was surprised how lame the final boss was.
Tried starting Dark Souls. Felt rigid at best, maybe the PC version is better? May give it another go at some point.
Booted up Destiny on the new Xbox One. Looks amazing. Turned it off immediately to start AC: Black Flag. Enjoying it so far, though I feel like I'm always getting chased for doing damn near nothing.
Dark Souls' pacing is... different... than normal.

I do rather wish I hadn't bought DS 1 for PC, and just skipped to 2. I mean, dang, they didn't even replace the 'press x button' decals in the port? And the mouse control is terrible, plus the whole 2 buttons per side doesn't work very well.
I may finally get a controller for my PC for some of my games. Dark Souls, Rogue Legacy, and I'm sure a couple I play with mouse and keyboard now could benefit from controller action.

World Of Tanks goodtimes with my Sherman III, the joy of having a very skilled crew, and all things researced. And having stuff that gives a already great tank crew bonuses also helps to ramp up the joy factor.
Last game saw me knock out three heavy tanks, one TD and one SPG.
Working my way towards the special StuG 4 but lord almigthy, dose the mission requierments have to be so immense?
