Decent looking how?

Haqqislam TAGs are meant to look low tech, since they simply can't afford the better TAGs.

And yet they have a monopoly on the medicine tech...as far as I know
how does that work? You'd have thought they'd be raking it in

Exactly!

Their near monopoly of Silk should afford them many opportunities to get T.A.G.'s and other hi-tech equipment...

One thing to note too, the Wu Ming are getting new weapons. Rocket Launcher and E/Mitter.

Agreed.

I can understand Ariadna not having TAGs (or having low tech at least), but Haqq? weird...

Even Ariadna could realistically get better T.A.G.'s and tech due to the fact that they control most of the mining and production of Tessium.

In the end, it all comes down to theme, aesthetics and game balance.

But there are easily explainable ways for Ariandna and Haqqislam to have better toys.

I'm thinking it is all ALEPH's fault that they don't!

They don't have TAGs because they hire mercs to do their dirty work. Why dirty their own hands in the political light when you can hire those underhanded Nomads to do it for you? (sectorial)

Who is going to sell them said TAG's?

PanO? Yu Jing? Would you give your opponent the very best weapons you have, even if they have the money to buy it?

Does the US sell our drone tech to China (to whom we owe a considerable amount of money)? No. We don't sell it to anyone. Its an advantage we have and want to keep, just like the best TAG tech for PanO and Yu JIng.

Same issue with the Nomads. You'd think they have the tech or could steal it. But they have to buy old PanO designs too. Sure they get modified afterwords, but they don't have the tech to build the TAGs themselves.

Ironically, if you actually read all the way through the book, Aridana HAS their own TAG. We just have not seen it yet.

I thought about that with Ariadna at least, i think it may be down to a lack of experience/skill with TAGs as opposed to not being able to get them at all. As they arent developing the TAGs themselves, they wouldnt necessarily have the know how to keep them running effectively? just my thoughts, because otherwise there is very little reason (other than theme, aesthetics and game balance, which are all perfectly good ) for them not to have them.

Its either that or it is ALEPH

Ooo good point, but they do have their own defences for the trade routes right? Would these not be as high tech/effective as possible?

I love finding out more about the fluff behind it all, thanks BlueDagger!

Gathering the Informations.

Not only that, but when you come down to it Ariadna itself is a pretty hostile environment. We've all seen the "tanks v. mechs" debates that crop up about scifi universes and the real world...tank treads, when you come down to it, are more practical than even the most stable mech design (the squat, multi-legged walkers).

And what is Ariadna if not practical?

Some one who has access and want to live 'forever' (Silk) or get additional access to the galaxy's best metal?

It isn't that hard to imagine... in a setting filled with creepy extra-galactic alien bogeymen and AI Overlord task masters!

With the flexible Merc rules you could always build an Ariadne list and add a Pan-O mech they have "bought" and paint it in your Ariadne colours.

I really, really hope that Ko Dali doesn't shift _entirely_ over to the EI, and that she is still available to YJ (including as an Lt. option). She's a cornerstone of my forces, and lets YJ keep up with Nomads in the tricky department and PanO in the gunnery department.

As for Wu Ming... I just started converting my own. Typical! Ah well, maybe I'll be able to mix/match parts from the box with the ones I was converting out of Daofei.

Thanks to Dakka for rounding up all the rumors in one place, as always! While the CB forums are great (and everyone there is really nice), Dakka does a better job of consolidating hearsay for our easy digestion. Y'all just saved me a lot of conversion work!

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Oh.

Yeah, I don't think that's going to happen.

It is slightly strange to me that when CB changes a model, they completely change it (other than Joan so far). McMurrough changed his profile. Ko Dali is leaving one faction for another. I'm anxious to see what happens to Uxia at this point.

Well, that sucks- losing Ko Dali is a big blow to the effectiveness of AD in Yu Jing lists.

That said, it's such an interesting and radical idea that it's worth the loss. Having a dynamic and evolving storyline is yet another part of what makes Infinity more fan than 40K, IMO.

It has not been said one way or the other if Yu Jing will lose her. It's likely to be a v.2 type model where it get 2 profile. It would just be the first time the v.2 is in a different army then there v.1.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

the V1 and 2 of Joan and Sun Tze are not a different character its the same with different load out, so its not a resculpt of an old character it is a new model for a new unit representing the same character, on the other hand, Mu murrog and Ko Dali represent a character 'advancement" they are not just the same with different armour and weapons, but a character after an important cornerstone of his life.

I can see allowing retro characters, but I would rather not have this, the character has gone forward, no need to have his older selves around.

The again a backup Ko Dali hunting herself would be hilarious.

Much as I hate to lose her, I have to agree with you on that. Once she has changed sides, the original should be unavailable.

Then again a backup Ko Dali hunting herself would be hilarious.

Actually, THAT is a really cool transhuman plotline! That rationale could keep the old one around, but would need to be supported by well-written (and well-reasoned) fluff.

I think the main reason Haqqislam doesn't have more TAGs is because they have a different focus of technology to bio-mechanics. They have access to the best gene-therapies, drugs, etc. They have troops with regeneration, super-jump, I-Khol, and other abilities. Why make a TAGs when you make a bunch of Captain Haqqislams?

You've gotta get a shield in there with the Haqqislam symbol on it!

I can totally see a character with Super-Jump, Hyper Dynamics L3, Religious, and MA Level 4.

I love the pose. It looks very "swordsman stance."

I'm wondering, since she's very human looking, Will she be able to take Impersonation? It would make sense as a Spec Op she needs to blend in a bit with the ones she's fighting.

So far the other human looking ones are the Speculo Killer with Impersonation and the character who has scanned Achillies. I think they may look female because Shasvastii asexual.

No they are specifically altered to look human, I guess they to it with all compatible races.

She is female because she is female, Shasvastii are born with both genders, but at some point decide what they want to be, the other gender takes a secondary role.
