For all the other newbies like me who are reading the thread, Carlos (one of the main guys at Corvus Belli apparantly as he keeps showing up in youtube videos) mentioned that the rules will be getting some sort of a big update next year around this time. That might be old news for Infinity diehards (who may be playtesting the rules as we type) but that sounds like a good time to get into the game. I realize some or all the rules are a free download (I don't know how the setting books like Paradiso affect or interact with those core rules) but having hopefully one place to look for the rules will be nice.

I'm willing to bet this will be the new book 4th in the line, going 2nd edition, Human Sphere, Pasadiso, and "what every they can it". I wouldn't count on a book with all the rules any time soon. We do know in the new book CA get a Rifle that make ARM 0, and PanO is getting a mine launcher.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

Kind of vexing to hear of an NCA starter with a fancyfancy new unit coming, then hearing it won't be around this year, though.

As a note of interest, someone made a reference to the Jotum/Iguana imagery being related to an event from the Infinity lore where Corregidor fought alongside PanOceania.

It could theoretically be this year--but we would have seen concept art by now if that were the case.
If I had to ballpark it?
I would say this will most likely be a June release of 2014 at the earliest.

I had not seen anything about a book as of right now, but if you saw something about it--post it up!

So far, we know that the NCA unit is in their starter box and "is similar to the Wildcats" in that it adds linkable specialists who utilize a mine launching device.
The Oznat is the only one with the "K1 Combi Rifle" that we know of so far--and given that it was not an option in "Campaign: Paradiso", it might not actually be in a new book but rather a web update.

That how CB dose it, release unit from the new books with web updates, human sphere we got unit almost 2 years before the book they showed up in. I do wonder how much more the "K1" Oznat will cost, the thing must have a SWC to, right. Damn this year and next are are going to be costly, but my wallet can't cry if it never see my money.

Well, the Gecko and Iguana look fantastic (also, nice to see them using more digital sculpting). And news the Acheron Falls will be giving Yu Jing both the Tian Di Frontier and the Cháng Shèng Jūn (Invincible Army) has me quite excited to see that one come out (finally a sectorial where I can spam Shang Ji and field Hac Tao/Daofei).

I'm also kind of glad to hear they are possibly doing another rules overhaul. While the game is pretty well tuned, I think we've all gotten to know the warts pretty well. If nothing else, a bit of a weapon re-balance (read: HMG nerf) wouldn't be too bad. And point tweaks or unit-reworks wouldn't go amiss either. I hope that is what they are on about, I'd definitely look forward to a new edition of Infinity. I guess we'll find out what they mean next summer though.

Are there pics floating around of the digital sculpts of the Gecko or is that two separate ideas?

Two separate ideas--or he might think the Iguana Operator is the Gecko.

The thing that makes the Iguana doubleplusawesome in my book is that it has a repeater. A repeater with Nomad hackers behind it. So if you can close with another TAG, say a Cutter or a Guijia, they are in way more trouble than a mere HMG might suggest.

Other stuff:

The Pheasant may look great, but it's so overcosted that even another wonderful model won't redeem the unit. The Pheasant is one of CB's few real balance failures. If you're new to Infinity, trust me: don't buy the sniper if you don't buy models you won't field. (but if you just love pretty models it will probably be epic).

On a similar note regarding the K1 rifle, in the hands of any other game designers I'd be worried about it being potentially unbalancing. But CB have proven themselves able to resist buffing the new shiny at the expense of the older stuff for the most part (unless it's PanO of course). Can't wait to see how that weapon works!

Oh, and the Invincible Army sounds awesome. YJ were originally supposed to lead the Sphere in Heavy Infantry quality and quantity, while PanO had the best TAGs. That went by the wayside with the Aquila and the various MO knights. Maybe the Invincible Army will redress the situation a bit...

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Loving all the abundant good news coming from CB this year at Gencon They have a big schedule of releases planned and I want all f them of course lol. The Iguana and Geko design and 3D sculpts look simply amazing!.

The new Morats have me interested in finally investing in some CA as they have not completely convinced me in the design department apart form some miniatures.

Now just waiting for my new Infinity art book to arrive

Yeah, for now (until CB give them the Vet. Kazak/Suryat treatment) they are very good models for Spec-ops in your ISS lists. Hell, after trying to get it to work for a while I have finally given up on the Crane as well. The Imperial Agents kind of highlight the weakness of the Infinity point system. It is pretty common in most point cost systems that use static values for abilities and equipment. Ultimate Warzone has something similar: a unit with one wound and a bunch of special rules that costs an arm and a leg.

I really hope they are on CB's radar. I adore the concept of them (bad arse Confucian gentlemen) and the style... but there are few reasons I would take either as is anymore.

Eh, I think it is pretty close between the two (I still prefer the Daofei to the Aquila; though I acknowledge that in a fight between the two, the Aquila has it in the bag). At the very least, I hope this balloons our HI variety and gives us more interesting specialist suits. But this is the sectorial I have been waiting for since before sectorials were a thing. I am so ready for an HI-heavy army in Yu Jing (apparently it also gets to take Guileng as well, which makes me happy; my Daofei always needs its little buddy).

Don't forget the Jotum's -9 BTS!

I have to admit, I'm a bit nervous about this weapon as well...

I have faith they won't bork the entire game due to it, but...I am nervous!

I too think the balance is almost there - and certainly reflected in the background - these are the Big Two, so to speak, after all...

Well, at least in terms of Human forces!

Yu Jing and PanOceania are actually supposed to be two different sides of the same coin when it comes to HI.

YJ has the quantity while PanO has the quality.

I forgot to add these renders of one of the new Morat Vanguard models from the forthcoming Morat Aggression Force starter box.
These, again, are cherrypicking from Guges' massive photobombing on the official Infinity forums.

From a gaming standpoint, it would be nice to see Yu-Jing HI's get more of a point reduction than they have, then.

I admit, I was kinda "Meh" when I read about the new spec-ops... and then I saw the concept art. Sign me up for those!

The Iguana looks as amazing as I'd hoped.

Well, we are getting the "Invincible Army" with Daofei and Hac-Tao as options in "Acheron Falls"...
There's no such listing planned, as far as I've seen, for an ORC Sectorial.

What's "Acheron Falls"? The title of the next book?

This is going to be a pain in the ass. I have stuff of a lot of armies. The only ones I don't have anything are PanO, CA and Tohaa. I've been trying to not to fall into Tohaa, because I really like the models. But with the CA... the latest Shasvastii models are awesome and if the new Morats are going to look like that...

First world problems.

Working title of the next book, if I'm not mistaken. There's a list of (largely carlos-confirmed!) new sectorials a few pages back IIRC. Svarlaheima and Varuna for PanO, EI and something less interesting for CA, the ones mentioned above; it sounds like rather a lot to stuff into one book but an awkwardly large part of it sounds entirely too awesome to pass up on, indeed.

Look at it this way though: as long as you can paint two or three box sets and five blisters per month, eventually you'll catch up with the entirety of the infinity range

I knew about the following sectorials, they were mostly hinted in last year's GenCon IIRC. But I haden't heard about the title of the book, thanks!
