the Mothership...

Yeah, the mk-12 is the one I hope for aesthetic reasons is doubled up in the box (and it seems like you like it additionally for in game utility as well). I guess we should just be happy that they aren't required to use "I'll cut ya!" close combat poses like alot of the recent tags.

well rule wise i prefer the one with double combi, 4 dice is always better than 3 and the panzerfaust with 13 BS is pure beast

mk12 is just combi with 15 D and medium range instead of close range

But medium range is an awful lot better on what is, I believe, a 4-4 TAG... Also, that panzerfaust is nice but you only get two shots - and a blitzen is often at least as much of a threat/boon.
I'd go mk12/blitzen in a heartbeat, if I played Nomads - if only for the increased ARO threat they pose due to range.

Doubling up on bits? Meh, I don't see it happening. How often have they done that? Spec-ops (which were an explicit exception!) and GdA are the only exceptions I've seen, while it would've been rather nice in many of the unit kits, as well as more than a few of the remote boxes, as well.

Colour me pleasantly surprised if they deviate from the current course this time, but I wouldn't count on it.

6-4 move. I believe the Anaconda is the only 4-4 TAG.

If they are only supplied with one option each MadRobot are producing Paulson's Mech Rifle/Beam Rifle, which should match decently with the mk12, at least in size.

According to the official Army Builder, Geckos are 4-4.
Iguanas are 6-4 though.

Doh. My mistake, that's why they're so Order-intensive.

Additionally, we have the "February Release List" according to Ravage Magazine now.

-Geckos
-Neoterran Starter
-Tarik Mansuri resculpt for Haqqislam
-Neema Saatar, Ectros character for Tohaa
-"ITS 2013 Bounty Hunter modified sculpt".

A Tarik resculpt??? That is a bit out of the blue-- and a bit unneeded. It is a fine mini. Also, it would seem to indicate that a khawarij resculpt or box??? is coming (Since Tarik is rumored to be able to link with them in an upcoming Haqq sectorial.) Perhaps a Bagh-Mari box soon too (to go along with Rao)

I think if the list is accurate, we have already seen the show stopper for this month. Although the Tohaa have been getting very interesting sculpts, so who knows?

Next month is likely to bring a support weapon specialists for the Bolts. I'm finding it hard to speculate what CB might be thinking with PanO. I don't think we can deduce the releases according to the new designs. Singh for example has an armour that resembles to Crusader Brethren.

PanOceania is getting a resculpt of the Armoured Cavalry, they still have the Tikbalang and Toni Macanya to do(which likely are going to be another "double TAG" box dependent upon the success of the Gecko boxes), they still have the Seraph and Uhlan to do as well--which could be another double box. with a pair of Auxbots thrown in as optional bits.

I can see Tikbalang and Tony Macayana sharing a box, since Tony pilots a Tikbalang and they would be mostly the same, as the Geckos. But a Seraph/Uhlan box... they don't belong even to the same sectorial. I think they are way too different, in some ways (I know some TAGs share the inner structure like Dragoes/Jotums and Iguanas/Geckos, but I mean different in other aspects).

Wasn't Squalo/Uhlan the idea, rather than Seraph/Uhlan?
And agreed, it would be insane. Feth, I've long resigned to the idea I'll get every PanO TAG eventually anyway (only Jotum to go for now, and my REMs to AVA project is almost done so that shouldn't be too long ) so it doesn't matter jack to me, but this just makes it substantially harder to pitch the game to less... insane?,,, players; it's going firmly out of "hey look, every SKU is pretty much in the impulse purchase price range" territory now - and that was one of the great ways to get people to start.

And back to the gecko's/bulleteers/other similar models (the infantry only found in starters comes to mind!): I "get" that having bits order services is a headache - and I wouldn't want a full-fledged one - but packs of such often-wanted parts should just be available, even if at a relatively price point.

Neema!

I've been waiting for her since Day 1.

Much more excited for her than I am for Tarik, and I have been playing Haqqislam from the beginning. Never fancied using Tarik, though.

Indeed. Neema might turn out to be a faction seller to someone.

Showed my Aleph playing friend the Geckos. He's been considering Nomads as a second faction for a while now but has been putting it off.

He's not putting it off anymore.

Clearly off topic here - but people 'seem to know' so, as a pencil/pen and paper illustrator wanting to branch out, what should I look for?

Please PM me with any advice - thanks!

For what it's worth, a Cintiq is expensive, but totally worth every penny. I use the same model the guy's using in that picture, and it's easily the best purchase I've ever made.

Also, looking forward to the Tarik resculpt. His old model, along with the other Khawarijs are really underwhelming, especially in comparison to what we've been getting lately, to say the least.

Ooh just saw Neema Saatar on the list this month. They're really chugging out Tohaa stuff. Looks like after this there's just odd profiles left. Good to see. Since Haqqs only release is Tarik which I'm not too interested in (barring an amazing sculpt) I hope Neema looks badass.

Any idea when this is coming out?

I don't follow Infinity much (yet), so I don't know how early these pics come out. I've only been interested in Tohaa and Nomads so far... but this set looks awesome. If my friends want to play Nomad and Tohaa, I'll gladly "settle" for these guys.

Playing: Droids (Legion), Starks (ASOIAF), BB2
Working on: Starks (ASOIAF), Twilight Kin (KoW). Droids (Legion)

It's one of this months releases, so you'll get it in the US probably in March/April.

You're probably more right than I am, as I can never remember the PanOceania TAGs that have yet to release.

Plus their designs are kind of less inspiring to me than the grittier Corregidor ones.

I like the pose of the 2 combi rifle Gecko personally.
Looks like an easy conversion to a mk12 as well if they are only one each per box.

These make me SOOOOOOOOO happy! I never even play Infinity, but I'll be picking up a Corregidor force. I don't know what I'll use them for, but I'm picking up a Corregidor force. These Geckos are the kinds of models that I wold build an army around. If I still played 40k I would use these as Tau Crisis Suits, I might do that anyways. I got in the deadzone KS and these would make FANTASTIC Corporation Striders. Maybe I'll grab Victory Decision and get people into it, or come up with something in Savage Worlds, I don't even know.

I just know that a small hole in my heart has just been filled, I need these in my life, for no other reason than they are the most amazing figures that have ever been released. Been waiting for these since I saw the concept art, and the figures are just so much better even than the art was! These are everything I want in a mech/PA!

You could always... start Infinity!

I started Infinity when it first released, I had been following it ever since the first WIP pics of the Orc Trooper and Armored Cav were teased online. The problem isn't really my desire to play infinity so much as the lack of people interested in the game to play against. I have had playable forces for PanO, Yujing and Haqqislam, but even using my figures nobody locally is willing to play more than a game or two before losing interest.

It is NOT a forgiving game to learn, and if one person has even a slightly better grasp on the rules they'll dominate the other side (and I haven't played enough to know how to hold back without obviously holding back). It's an even steeper learning curve than Warmachine is. That's one of the strengths of the game: it is immensely tactical and holds up incredibly well to high-level play, but it's just hard to pick it up and play it as an every-now-&-again game so most in my group won't even bother.

So i'll find some way to use these figures, Infinity or otherwise, because they're just that freaking fantastic.

I wouldn't say this is the case anymore. Maybe first edition was a lot more complicated? It's still certainly a complicated game, but out of the 3 people in my group playing, I'm the only one seriously reading the rules, and I've had my ass handed to me by both other people playing. My brothers Imperial Service walked all over me with a Wu Ming HI link and my friends Aleph is consistently hard to fight. Once you have a grasp of the orders and ARO mechanic, it's more about learning what special rules your models have and how their weapons work.

I'd say the ARO mechanic is the biggest hurdle - it's odd at first being shot and killed in your own turn. But a few games in with just basic infantry to learn that mechanic will set you right. Maybe give second edition a go?

Nope, 1st & 2nd edition are near-identical. Most of the current complexity of the game comes from Human Sphere and Paradiso adding Sectorials and roughly doubling the number of units, skills, weapons and equipment.

First edition rules were more spanglish than the current ones, however.

So many games, so little time.

So many models, even less time.

Screw it, Netflix and chill.

The simplified quick-start rules both reduce the complexity and make players more even in regards to skill level. I would highly recommend using them for a teaching game. Just make it clear that there are more rules to come later, but the actual skill is all in the basic tactical stuff.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!
