It could always just be one of the Authorized Bounty Hunter mercs. This time,it's the variant with the motorcycle.

Folks, you know that that's the Kum Bike but without the smoke launcher on the side of the forks? It's not new. :(

Didn't CB recently do an interview with BoW where they talked about the American style faction coming to Infinity? Here's hoping this is it.

Yes, it is quite obvious.

Its just strange to post the Chopper up with the American Flag waving behind it.

We've known about them long before that interview.

Basically here's the skinny:
When we get the next campaign/source book we're going to see at least one Sectorial for each faction.

ALEPH
Vedic/Posthuman Sectorial--basically the "stealthy" counterpoint to the Steel Phalanx

Ariadna
USAriadna (the bikers are purportedly called "Mavericks" and quite frankly the sectorial is kind of divisive because some people want wild west in space while something more like Israel in that it would be a nation constantly at war)
RussAriadna(which we've just seen the Spetsnaz released for)

Combined Army
Evolved Intelligence (supposedly this is going to be very drone heavy)

Haqqislam
Caliphate (Tarik is part of this group; think genetically enhanced supersoldiers)
Khanate(Kum bikers are part of this group)

Nomads
The only confirmed one we have at this point is Tunguska(the third of the big Nomad ships; they provide lots of technological/financial support to the Nomad Nation).
We were hearing about the Black Hand(basically the special operations command for the Nomad Nation. Draws from the Intruder Commando Corps, the Prowlers of Bakunin, Zeros of Bakunin, Spektrs of Tunguska, and the Observance of Bakunin), but the last conversation I had with one of the design team basically said they are shelved as their own army for the time being and likely will be rolled into Tunguska.

PanOceania
Svalarheima--the winter Sectorial. You would be looking at the Jotum TAG, the Nisse troops, ORC Troops, and probably some unique units we haven't seen yet.
Varuna--the more aquatic Sectorial. This would include Fusiliers, the Kamau, Cutters, and Croc Men.

Tohaa
We don't know what exactly we are getting here. Supposedly we'll see two here.

Yu-Jing
A Svalarheima sectorial which features the Guilang, some kind of smaller "TAG Hunter" TAG class called the "Blue Wolf", Shaolin Warrior Monks, and some kind of line infantry/units we haven't seen yet.
Invincible Army--a Heavy Infantry themed Sectorial. Invincibles, Daofei, Hac Tao, Terracotta Soldiers(a "light" Heavy Infantry), and the Zu Yong (Heavy Infantry stacked with heavy weapons that normally are on TAGs).

A thought about the USAriadna chopper.

Maybe CB is rewriting, or adding, to the Kum fluff and tying to in with this USAriadna biker unit to have a sort of rival gang war in the fluff? Seems like a fun thing to do with two bike units in different armies.

Also, where's my Ghazi preview?

I'm not sure how that would really work since Ariadna is more or less "new" to the Human Sphere political scene--and then RussAriadna and Merovingia are the big main players.

With Beasts of War I think...meaning it could be whenever.

Well, despite being new to the Sphere, they appear to have the exact same bike tech. The rivalry could go back to when they were on Earth.

To expand on these.

Caliphate is also where the Haqqislamite money is, and is tied to the Al Medinat. It's where we will see the Maghariba Guard finally join a sectorial. We'll also see some of their more flashy gear similar to Asawira - the Mukthar have more or less been confirmed to be here (the Asawira that are so good they're selected for the Sultinates bodyguard). So super soldiers and flashy (for Haqqislam) tech.

Khanate is sounding like the 'fast' sectorial in the way that the Invincible Army is the 'heavy infantry' sectorial. They've confirmed Halqa will be in the sectorial as well.

Which would have been before living memory for either groups involved...

I get why you want it and I think it's a neat idea and all and it would be a way to explain why they use the same bikes but I think at the end of the day it's just that they chose to do the whole "Ariadna can't actually manufacture anything themselves despite having a manufacturing base to make Coca-Cola and sweet as all heck helicopters" thing again and for whatever reason they associate biker gangs with military operations.

Thank you for adding that. I'm really only up on the ones that interest me and Haqqislam has never really caught my eye.

I think I should probably start collating this into a thread for the Infinity subforum here.

MURIC.... ahh wait. Hmm, still hoping the icy starter thing is at gencon, i'm not terribly interested in a bike. Or buying an entire new faction Sounds like there will be something there about which to be excited in any case, so that's cool

I wasn't interested in the bikers either until I used them.

When I watched a Kum rider cross the table in 3 orders and chain rifle down 5 light infantry hiding behind a building in a single burst, I was kind of sold on them.

Oh I wasn't saying there was anything wrong with bikes at all. I'm having a hard time not picking up three pairs of Aragotos (the 6th one can get converted into Yojimbo) and some supporting units to make an Akira bike gang themed JSA force I think it sounds ridiculously fun to drive a bunch of bikes around shooting stuff. I've just already got an idea of how I want to do it, and new bikes won't help me

I should have said not terribly interested in "a new bike", perhaps.

I really don't want USAriadna to be "Wild West in Space".

Does the RoW really still picture Americans as Cowboys?

I think it's more that people have this obsession with USAriadna being backwoods hillfolk...despite the fact that the various other Ariadnan nations have a vested interest in keeping USAriadna around to serve as a buffer against the Antipode tribes.

Hmm given what we know about V 3.0 coming up, would the current edition rulebook be worth spending 30 bucks to acquire (shopping amazon and happened to spot some)?

I guess I mean to say, is it worth 30 bucks for the pictures, fluff, and so on? I've heard the books are really pretty but no local stores sell them for me to be able to see for myself

Eeeehhh. I'm a sucker for pointless art and fluff books (hence why I bought the art book), but the art in the second edition book is really showing its age now, and the fluff is kind of oddly translated.

As N3 is a rewrite of 2nd edition, I'd personally recommend waiting for that. The fluff will apparently be better translated and expanded, and the art will be up to current standards.

I wouldn't mind the announcement of a second art book in the near future.

I really hope they don't make USAriadna a bunch of space hillbillies. Or cowboys. If they're basically on the border between human Ariadna and Antipode Ariadna, I'd imagine that they're probably a pretty militarized society, especially after the Antipode wars. I'd rather see the USAriadnans be a more technological sectorial for Ariadna. Have them use a lot of drones and maybe throw in some AD specialists and amphibious specialists. And if they're supposed to be the buffer zone with the Antipodes, NEW DOG SOLDIERS! Please give USAriadna some werewolf troops. With armor. And assault rifles.

As for that motorcycle, I'd guess that it'll probably either belong to a Merc or an Authorized Bounty Hunter. Probably styled after the Hell's Angels.

Oh dear, the ugliness that has resulted from discussions of the USAriadna sectorial, at least on the Official forum. Some thinly veiled, and some not at all veiled, anti-Americanism. I doubt CB will do anything deliberately to tick off Americans. They want to do well in the USA (as has been stated, and should be obvious from the attention they are directing hereabouts).

Bear in mind, they made Haqqislam a sympathetic, fun and playable faction. If they can make it through that potential mine field, everything else should be easy peasy.

You know, the idea of USAriadnans being a buffer between humanity and the Antipodes, now with a chopper gang, is reminding me of the resistance fighters in Falling Skies.

Not space cowboys, but guerilla fighters with decent levels of technology (which also fits some of the US's military history) and some 'out there' stuff (they even had their own chopper gang, the Berserkers).

I am glad I never saw those threads, and I really, really hope CB doesn't do anything even remotely like that with USAriadna...

Better that than 1920's Al Capone gangsters which is generally the other stereotype.
