Safe bet since they said the MAF starter price is not changing. SO my guess is they will all increase to the cost of the MAF starter.

I need to go supply my nerd rage bunker, since I expect that announcement is going to cause quite the storm.

Dear lord, I hope not. Here in the UK that would be a ~25% increase in price. :(

Well, they are 'doing a GW' since they are cutting one of the ways that the fanbase has of actually contacting the company.

Frankly I can't think of a single positive side of this decision by CB...

Neither can I!

And it isn't as if there's already a strong enough presence ala GW to 'pull this off' either!

One of the people running Datasphere posted on the infinity forum that Corvus Belli is covering the costs of Datasphere. So it sounds like they're just outsourcing?

Not happy to hear though. Would prefer they keep the official forum intact.

Well guess it is about time he marketed those custom bases he makes for the minis.

I can.. kinda.. and I think the timing of this is quite telling. It's happening about the same time as O:I starts making it's way into the hands of the public and about a month before it starts reaching a wider audience via GenCon and perhaps the CB store pre-orders too.

They want to put their best foot forwards and when people have questions about the O:I box they just purchased.. when they want to know when N3 is coming out.. when they want to talk to other players to find out what models they should purchase.. they are going to gravitate to the forums.

While there is good content there, it is adrift on wretched sea of scum and villainy. Between the bickering, random hatred, layered in jokes and general insanity, it probably doesn't make for the most welcoming place for the surge of newbies CB is hoping for. Even if CB nuked the forum posts and tried to start afresh the same people would come back and carry on where they left off because for better or for worse, forums have a legacy of their own. So instead of Getting Tough with their moderation so the forums can be cleaned up, they are instead scrapping the whole thing and starting fresh somewhere else.

Is that really the best course of action? I don't know, but it's probably better than doing nothing at all.

They wouldn't have to nuke their forums if they had been moderating from the get-go.

Exactly - while I can tell you that Moderating a forum is not exactly...easy...it can be accomplished.

I think this is what they should have done, especially now, with the impending starter box and N3 launches!

Agreed a million times over. Maybe they moderate the Spanish part of the forum (?) but to let any part of your official forum run wild and unchecked? They must have been making business decisions that day by playing spin-the-bottle.

On the topic of moderating forums, how many of the CB can actually read and understand English?

Quite a few; but it's a second or third language for most from my understanding.

Hmm,

New Rules,
Price Increases (really a 25% rise?, if that is true it's even worse than GW's old 'regular' rises)
Major Forum changes

Is the the beginning of a move to a more 'professional', larger business we've seen with GW, Privateer Press and most recently Wyrd ?

it may help the companies sell stuff but never quite seems to work out for existing fans

I wouldn't go that far...

As mentioned, them moving to a new 2 player starter set(of which we're reportedly getting a "deluxe edition" later on in the year that includes a painting guide by Angel) will likely bring more people in.

We don't know the price increase amount yet. I was merely speculating since the Morat Starter is unaffected by the increase it seems possible that they may be the baseline for the increase.

It is a logical decision and I feel you discard the efforts these communities put in making the sites professional.

CB is not pulling "A GW" they did not stop their online presence, they did not pull their facebook page and they did not say they will not interact with their fans anymore.

They decided to make official two sites one for the global community and one for the Spanish community and help them in doing what they do.

I see nothing bad in that.

The Warcore site looks more 'official' and possibly 'helpful' and it is disappointing to see that it doesn't have an English section.

This seems to be a bit of a misstep by CB - the first real one in a long time really...

On the other hand, the current forum has been in restricted functionality mode for several weeks now, and a forum without a working search function is pretty darned irritating.

So if it came down to "The forum's unusable, so we're switching to different software in two months" vs. "The forum's unusable, so we're getting someone else to run the forums for us," at worst it's a presentation issue.

Isn;t the price increase only for the morat starter pack?

No, the Morat starter is already at the new price. ALL old starters will be bumped up to a new price.

Well, that's the ASA and MO starters coming this payday then.

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

Like the dice! Also I think people are jumping onto the panic wagon really fast. CB takes a long time to do things because they think them through. I believe when all is explained it will be for the best. Also if this result means that the forums are able to be better quality, kept to friendly, welcoming standards and allows for more people to be brought in then I am all for it. It seems bad now but in reality I actually think this is a positive thing when the current forums are less than ideal.

I'd expect "the new price" to still be less than the morat box. There is a lot of metal in that box.

Do we have some more info about new hacker rules?

I love to use them in "dynamic duo"(internvetor and custodier) with EVO, so im rly nervous about changes. For me it was a major point that sold Infinity for me, I can play GITS with minis.

Every Nomad kid want to be a Tomcat when they grow up.
