The Beasts of War hour long whatever that was posted yesterday on the official forums.

Like 15 minutes of it is Infinity related.

I don't remember hearing anything at all in the BoW video about a deluxe version of Operation: Icestorm.

Considering how toxic the english portion Infinity forums have become, and how often they get brought down by various crap, I kinda think its a good idea.

So many games, so little time.

So many models, even less time.

Screw it, Netflix and chill.

That's good, because the business about a special edition appears to be completely made up. The fifteen minutes which said nothing about another special edition of Operation: Icestorm.

What the video did say what that one of the painting classes at GenCon will be how to paint the models in the box.

I know - I mean, it even says Wacom on the front - however a Cintiq 22HD is a little out of my price range. But a Surface Pro 2? Well, okay, that's out of my price range too. But.. less so

I misread your post then. My apologies. Consider a Nexus. I'm quite happy with mine. It's good for running Aleph Toolbox, and storing PDF's of various sorts -- like rules, army lists. Won't run the Official Army Builder though, because that is Flash. Flash? Really? Or wait for the Surface 3 to come out and get the Surface 2 at clearance prices.

Thanks so much Micky for that post, and bringing those comments here!

That answers a lot of the questions asked over the past 20 pages of this thread, and also adds some interesting bits about the company (30 staff in the company, 75% growth of the company for the past few years, the playtest process etc.)

Yes - seconded!

Thank you VERY much for posting that here Micky - exalted!

What exactly is the purpose of an exalt? I cannot find a decent explanation anywhere. My lousy search-fu :(

The WarCors delay was due to working out details with the bank or so I heard. Once it launched, with its exclusive forum, the official forum broke down. Some time thereafter, we saw that Koni showed up here. I noted that Bostria is posting in the Data-Sphere. I suspect they looked at the cost to fix/upgrade and operate/maintain the official forum, realized that they did not have the budget for it and decided to make the best of the situation by subsidizing the Data-Sphere (for the International Forum) and the Spanish Warcor forum (for the Local Forum), and assign various people to other independent forums. My deepest sympathies to whosoever at CB drew the shortest straw and ended up at the Chime of Misplaced Spirits.

The saddest thing, IMHO, is the loss of the really good resources in the Painting, Fan Art and Terrain sections of the forums. And the various tactics threads for each faction.

Custom dice Maybe they'll do a set for each faction now?

Aren't custom dice for infinity kind of... awkward? I mean, usually they put the symbol on the 20, or possibly the 1, but those numbers hold far less significance for infinity since you're rolling for your score. Now, if you get me some moderator dice with the moderator logo on the 10, then i'll be rolling happy

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed in that. I think it might be time for their mods to step up and actually moderate.

It is too late for that now, apparently!

I suppose if that means the CB Heavy Hitters are now out and about in The Wild - so be it!

This^^ there is no box set coming with a Angel painted model. As of now if you want a Angel painted model you need to be the overall winner of the ITS season.

The Infinity Forums started a slight downward decline ever since they moderated a rule that you couldn't advertise, mention, or showcase any other products aside from Infinity and Made-for-Infinity companies.

This stance is understandable, but with Corvus Belli branching out and trying to get word out about their company, it only makes sense that those companies get exclusivity in return.

This is one of the big reasons Data Sphere rose in popularity.

I missed that news.

I can't say I'm surprised that the official boards are going. The software has been gaking the bed for ages now, and they apparent'y have no time or inclination to moderate the community. I'm perfectly fine with discussion all moving to data sphere. The benefit there is no more limitation on what 3rd party products can be discussed. Corvus Belli limited it to partners only, while data sphere, as a fan website, had no such limitation.

edit - and apparently I missed Absolutionis post! I suck at reading today.

I'm guessing this has been covered somewhere, but if I preordered from somewhere that wasn't CB online store, would I still get the pre order model?

If you do before August 31st, yes, you'll receive CSU exclusive miniature.

If you mean the "CSU Corporate Security Unit" pictured in the image with a briefcase, yes, you would still get it. The only model with limited distribution to GenCon and CB's website is the Cosplay Neoterra Bolt, a different model which is not mentioned in this last image (cos it's a different product).

Okay awesome, thank you. And yeah I did mean the CSU model, which looks pretty cool from the silhouette and I'm guessing is wielding the SMG briefcase we saw before.

Hmm, a touch more expensive than I was hoping for - in the UK, most two player starters that this will compete with (Dropzone Commander, 2 player Warmahordes starters, Bolt Action Normandy etc) retail around £60 and this is ~£71.. but this is the price from CB. I'm sure if retailers sell this later on at £65 or so it should compare quite favorably with those other starters.

That said, I'm still totally going to pre-order all of the above from CB

The price is not that bad, I think I'll be able to jump on it. I was thinking that Penthesilea would be more expensive than the cosplay Bolt, though.

Thanks for sharing, Koni!

So the complete pack should be ~140-150 since it's the 120ish icestorm plus the 20ish dollar bolt, yeah? I can do that. I think the penthesilea is what she should be for a smaller bootleg, and the bolt is the one with the inflated price... probably for the sake of LE/etc.

I'm cool with the starter set being a little over $100, it is 14 infinity models with 6 custom dice, likely a fairly attractive mini rulebook, scenery even if it is likely to be card it'll probably still be fair quality, and so on.

Especially when you compare this to say, dark vengeance, which gives you two woefully unbalanced forces that are maybe down in the 'smallest games anyone would be willing to play ever' range...

Whereas here you get two forces that are likely to be balanced, with enough points to play what is looks like 150-200ish points, the equivalent to medium-standard games for 40k in terms of Infinity. And scenery, so you're ready to go from the box. This should do quite well to get more people playing infinity, i should think.

90 Euros is around $120 - at full retail, of course.

So, it might end up at around just *under* $100 at The Warstore and Miniature Market and such.

That is a very nice price!

For what it sounds like we're getting, and at CB's level of detail/quality? Heck yeah Hopefully this will get people buying in so in a couple of years I'll have someone to play

Not a bad price for the starter, With a 20% discount from most e-tailers, that'll be ~$99 or so, which works out to less than $6.67 per mini, if you include the CSU, and ignore the cost of the rest of the box. And free shipping from Miniature Market. This is indeed good news. Now I see why CB got all the bad news out of the way yesterday.

Considering I can use the Mobile Brigada and the Alguaciles straight away in QK, and the Akalis in my ASA, and the CSU civvie anytime, I certainly want to pre-order. Provided that the minis don't suck. Which is very unlikely eh? I can always find a use for the rest. Except that Space Marine Father-Knight. I already have a Montesa. There is no way I'd ever field 2 Montesas.

It'll depend on the other stuff aside from the minis included in the box if I will see this as a "cheap" box. The scenery will make or break that. Still, it sounds just a tad bit high for now for me if you get those minis plus the other stuff (but still fair, given you get 14 models!).
