On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

They haven't said that it's going to be limited edition though?

I've got no idea how many of these they expected to sell. One has to imagine, if they do sell out quickly then they will start another production run. Remember that the miniatures are produced in-house also, they're not having to wait 6 months for a place in the queue in China/Renendra.

I'm waiting until 28th for the 'official' pre-release to see who is offering the best deal, although half of me just thinks I should go with Wayland as the most I am going to save is 5 quid..

I don't think that is what they were saying. I believe the version with the free cheesecake office lady with the machine gun briefcase is limited to the 5000 units. Warren was generally blathering on during that video as usual and Carlos wasn't really clear about confirming that bit but that is the gist I got from watching.

Perhaps. But here's the relevant video section: http://youtu.be/JKZl3v_5EeU

Warren: "But there's one more miniature, but it's only for people that preorder the box. So there'll be the first run of this box. This box in total is quite limited edition because there is only going to be 5000 of this box. But for those people that preorder

Carlos: "Yes"

Warren: "...and those people that buy at Gen-Con, I would imagine"

Carlos: "Also yes. Correct."

Warren: "And they'll see a little yellow sticker on there, and if you have a little yellow sticker that means you have an exclusive miniature in the box."

Carlos: "Yes, and that is something that I would like to advise everyone. Okay. Go for the yellow sticker, because if you like this box. And there is also only 5000 copies of it, it's probably going to be sold out. If the life of this product is so limited, go for the yellow sticker. Go for the preorder, and get more miniatures for your money,"

Warren: "Okay"

Carlos: "Because maybe you'll end up with no Operation Icestorm boxes available."

Warren: "Mm..hmm"

---

Seems to me that the Carlos is explicitly stating the boxed set as a whole is limited to 5000 copies.

I like this one... from the comments, someone labelled it a "jannissary".

Looks like a re-sculpt of the Janissary HMG. Unless they are getting some exotic new weapon options.

I said "I think", not necessarily 'labeled" (Yes, that's me)

The shoulders have the holes in them and the face looks like a Jannisary. The Janissary models that currently exist aside from the one in the Haqq starter are all rather old. This new model seems to take Haqq's Classic/Vanilla HI and give it a new look in-line with the bulky MobileBrigada and Orcs.

Then again, it also has a weapon similar to the new YuJing TerraCotta guys.

Looks like 2 of the new Ghulam in there, sniper and hacker. Guess that reveals half the box.

The design is in line with the new Jannisary in the vanilla starter. The starter pack Jannisary was the redesign. The HMG in the blister right now is the old one that went with the old rifle model, which was discontinued shortly after the new starter.

Yojimbo is looking pretty sleek. I'm guessing if they're doing a standing/riding version we can maybe expect to see a combo blister with both at some point?

This is interesting for my eventual akira themed aragoto biker gang... i can use my gencon penny (forget that she doesn't match, it'll work!), the two aragoto blisters, and yojimbo whenever he exists.. bikes!

Hmm.... that's not how I read it.

Yellow sticker on the box means contains the ltd edition miniature, there are only 5000 of those. He's not speaking about Operation Icestorm generally (I think!)

I agree though this could do with a clarification.

I definitely got the impression ice storm was limited to 5000 copies, however there were as many preorder copies as required.

They'll probably be releasing semi regular starter boxes after each other.

Dare I saw it, inspired by GW.

In all honesty they've probably looked at their accounts and decided that a 5000 print run will do for 6 months.

That's how I read it too. The 'yellow sticker' run is the pre order run with the Corporate Security Unit model. He pretty explicity states there's only 5000 copies of the yellow sticker run, sounds like it's a 'first come, first serve' basis. The first 5000 customers get the pre order set.

Maybe, maybe not. The fastest I've seen a 'render to model' turnaround that I remember is the Antipodes at Ficzone, getting a model release the next month (or was it 2 months after?). Sometimes it takes longer for the model.

Tohaa is in an interesting position in that there's not a whole lot left to release for them. A few weapon options (every Vulkan Shotgun profile, for example, and the Sakiel LRL). There's a good 2 years still until we see Acheron Falls, which is when Tohaa get their next big set of reinforcements. Releases until then will be pretty scattered, just gap filling, IIRC.

I'd guess they might want to stretch Tohaa out a bit, so I'd expect them to skip a few months at a time between releases.

Spoiler:

So Hacker, Missile Launcher, Sniper. My initial prediction was those, plus the HMG, missing the Panzerfaust (because these days they tend to let the 'proxy' or a rifle model stand in for Panzerfausts). Come on HMG!

I may be mistaken but didn't they show renders of the antipodes at last year's gencon?

IIRC, last years Gencon was concept art. Ficzone was when we saw the renders.

Woot, Hac Tao resculpt! Always one of my favourite looking units, but the new one looks great.

And nice to see the Terracotta, but I am still more interested in the stats than the model itself.

And the new Janissary looks awesome.

I haven't read much about him, but I think both miniatures (the knight and the healer), since they are limited to the O:I box (unlike the starters), are just characters. I don't really know, but my guess is that they are just characters, a bit like the Dire Foes. Maybe we could see more miniatures of their units in the future, but given the nature of the product, I think it's just a one time thing.

That was debunked a while ago. They're not characters and are nothing like Dire Foes, that's why they don't have names. IIRC, they're new units in 3rd edition, but these particular sculpts are limited to the Icestorm box.

The Father Knight is interesting - his size suggests CB are channeling a bit of Tarik. Maybe a PanO super soldier attempt?

There won't be a Seminar today, so that's all you get. That indeed is new JANISSARY hmg, that's the weapon resculpt for Haqq.

There was also Yojimbo, Dogwarriors and Kutail later on, the last one a new Tohha troop with Symbiont, Holoecho 2 and 'some other cool tricks' qccording to Bostria.

I have photos of the cosplay contest, which was nice, too. Therewaswas a cledonian codplayer in a kilt. With no pants. Imagine why we know....

Anyone know what the launch time on the CB site is and what's happening with the Gen Con bundle? Tried looking around but my main conclusion from doing that was just that CB needs to hire someone who can accurately translate Spanish to English...., Sure I cannot speak Spanish, but I'm also not trying to market a wargame......

The bio stuff isn't really Pan-O's thing. Give him some armour, tech and a sword is more MO's M.O. Personally I'd like to see him with some sort of leadership-based skills (I'm assuming he's a higher rank than the other knights).
