The "remotes" category may be the distinction between Humans at S2 and "tall humans" at S3 such as Dakini, Garuda, Devabots, Karakuri, Morats, Ikadron, Chaksa, etc that stand noticeably taller than a Human. Although, I'm not sure if this warrants its own size category. They're probably just as tall as many HI.
Additionally, the difference between S3 and S4 may be the difference between the general Remotes everyone gets Armbots, Rebots, Sputniks, etc and the "baggage bots" everyone gets Mulebots, Probots, Kameel, etc. The Baggage bots tend to be taller in general and may warrant their own size category.
Another assumption is that the names are mislabeled and S3 are generic 40mm base remotes while S4 are 50mm based "bike" size models. Not as tall as a "small tag" S6 Gecko, Sphinx, etc, but larger base than a S5 "big guy" Ajax, etc.
Pacific wrote:So presumably now with the slightly larger bases for the remotes, the base 'nodule' things, and the joys that came with making them fit neatly to the edge of the base, are a thing of the past?
I worry that even with the new silhouette system, true LoS will still involve those players that always seem to be able to bend light around solid objects when seeing what their unit can see. "Yep can definitely see him!", the laws of physics relegated firmly to the corner of the room for that moment (although, realise this is a problem whatever game you play, unless the rules are ready to pile on the abstraction! )
Announce your intention as you move your models and a lot of problems can be solved. If you move a model within LoS of one enemy while denying LoS of another enemy, announce your intention and work it through with your opponent and everything will go smoothly.

It wasn't only combat remotes that got moved to 55mm bases.

Combined Army "flying bug" drones are in the core rulebook. In case you need some hipster 'attack remotes'...
Either way, part of the point of the silhouette is that it tells you both the base size for that model and its effective height. Did you get a mispack or accidentally mount your drone on a 25mm base? Won't matter much, because you've got it in writing how big the model is as far as the game is concerned.

From Infinity Facebook:
Due to the BIG success of O:I pre-order, we need to produce the double of the initial number of boxes, so this will cause a little delay to arrive to stores. Sorry for the inconvenience.
No word on how long the delay will be and if this will affect the initial bunch of people.
On the bright side, this is a success for CB and that the initial batch "limited" to 5000 copies is apparently not a hard cap after all.

It's not really an inconvenience as I don't actually know the release date anyway. Hopefully we get some clear info to a release date soon but personally I'm happy to wait if it means more people get an opportunity to get a limited item.
Nothing worse than missing out on something like this. I thought I'd missed the Space Wolves Tactical objective cards and I was annoyed by their limited edition nature that sold out in hours.

I guess we'll see if CB's trade partners or their direct sales are given priority. I preordered directly from CB on the 31st July, I can't remember when preorders went live so I dunno if I'm early or late in the list.

I'd like to know the answer to this as well. I preordered from an interstate online store that was doing the preorders instead of a local store that intended to wait for general stock. Im going to feel a bit guilty for shafting the local if I don't get the exclusive.

Well the CSU model was stated to be for preorders, not 'first print run', so I guess it'd still be fine.

That's the confusing part. Watching Carlos talk about Icestorm he keeps saying things like, "Try and get the one with the sticker on it". So not all of them have the sticker (read:CSU model)?
Corvus Belli are now making more copies of Icestorm presumably because the initial run has been sold out (in preorders). That means all 5000 original units should have the CSU model if it's available to all preorders and there shouldn't be any non-stickered boxes in the intended production run.
How do they determine who preorders it? Retailers send them sales figures and CB send the appropriate number of CSU figures?

My girlfriend is ordering me a copy to put away for Christmas. She said that our copy is being sent out or possibly arriving on the 18th of September if that's of help to anyone.
Wayland gMes said they are only offering the Csu for orders before the 31st of August where as element games seems to have no such restriction. Automatically Appended Next Post: I'm glad that the 5000 copies wasn't a hard limit for cb.

I'm pretty sure that the CSU was to be included in all pre-ordered boxes of O:I prior to September.. think it was on the CB facebook page too, but somewhere along the lines that part seems to have been forgotten about. I guess a lot of retailers have effectively 'pre-ordered' copies of O:I for their inventory and all such orders placed by the end of August will have the CSU mini in them.. but once those are sold out, there probably won't be any more. So in the case of Element games, they probably pre-ordered say, 30 copies in advance, but only 25 copies have since been "taken up" by customers placing orders for it on their site.. thus there are still a few "available".
As an aside, squeee! I just got an email from UPS that my copy of O:I will be picked up from CB soon

Not really. As was mentioned by Dentry, Bostria kept saying things about "getting the one with the sticker on it".
Even the 'clarifications' that were made did not really help clarify anything.

Right. So if a store preordered 50 copies, had customer preorders for 40, then they would have 10 to put on their shelves. Any orders that the store places after the preorder period won't have the CSU in, and might end up on the same shelves as those preordered ones. Hence 'look for the ones with the sticker'.
I know the announcements haven't been clear (and it's hard to remember translation issues still exist sometimes, due to the excellent English spoken by most people online), but I don't see any contradictions, and it all makes sense. To me, anyway.
Of course I might be completely wrong...

Except there wasn't going to be a "nonpreorder period". They were making 5000 copies. That was it.
Short of opening up the boxes and removing the stickers, there would have had to been some hard number of what constituted the cutoff for "the 5000".
I know the announcements haven't been clear (and it's hard to remember translation issues still exist sometimes, due to the excellent English spoken by most people online), but I don't see any contradictions, and it all makes sense. To me, anyway.
Oh no. It's really easy to remember that translation issues exist. It is easy to spot when reading the lore bits or even the rules.

Or maybe the boxes don't start with the CSU inside. Then, every box that was allocated to someone (trade or private customer) was opened and the CSU mini put inside, then the sticker placed on it. Copies ordered after the 31st then don't get this treatment.
This is nowhere near as hard as you try to make it seem.
Multi-edit: Because everytime I type CSU, it comes out CUS...

The Operation: Icestorm box includes a cardboard counter for the CSU model for the last scenario specifically because they're going to stop putting the yellow CSU sticker and the corresponding CSU model in boxes after they finish producing the pre-orders.

The Warstore no longer lists the exclusive CSU mini as part of the pre-order. Neither does Miniature Market (though I'm not certain they did before).
So I guess it was just for August pre-orders, then?
Also, looks like the Cosplay Bolt will still be available somewhat. Anyone know if they'll produce more or are they just offering her at different events until stock runs out?

Except that before the fact we knew that only preorders placed in the preorder period (you know, that's the non-nonpreorder period period) would get the CSU miniature.
We knew from the Beasts of War week video (which, stupid as you think that channel might be*, was official Corvus Belli release information) that there would be a card chit for copies not including the CSU mini to still play the scenario. This video was release during the fact, not after. In fact I think it was quite early in the preorder period.
Given that all the info is out there, has been out there since July, and has not been contradicted; I'm at a loss as to how you thing things could be better defined?
* channel in this context means the using partners as a channel to release info, not specifically the Beasts of War you tube channel (which I will admit I'm not a fan of in general).

Let's say one day that the community manager says that "all preorders" are going to get something.
The next day another company employee comes out and says that "the boxes with the yellow sticker" are going to get something.
This is not difficult. What constitutes the preorder numbers? There was no countdown timer or any kind of hard number as to what number their "5000 copies" stops having the CSU model in it.
Just an arbitrary date and a production number.
With that said, enough of the bloody "exclusives".
You're not Games Workshop. You're not Privateer Press. You're not Mantic.
You're Corvus Belli. You are the producers of a game with holes in your lines that have existed since the launch of your second edition.
Stop devoting time to "exclusives" and fill the holes that exist.

Which was the date you need to order by to get the miniature. You say "arbitrary date" so disparagingly. It was always going to be an arbitrary date, because CB made the decision, arbitrarily, to end preorders on that date. I'd like to hear you rideas on how else the date should have been determined other than 'arbitrarily'.
Let's say one day that the community manager says that "all preorders" are going to get something.
The next day another company employee comes out and says that "the boxes with the yellow sticker" are going to get something.
Right, these are not contradictory. Preordered copies have a yellow sticker, and contain the miniature.
This is not difficult.
You really seem to think it is!
What constitutes the preorder numbers?
Did anyone ever say there would be a specific number of preorders? The preorder system was handled by date, not quantity.
There was no countdown timer or any kind of hard number as to what number their "5000 copies" stops having the CSU model in it.
Yes there was, the calendar on your wall or PC counting down to August 31st, the end of the preorder 'window'. Because, as I've now realised you absolutely cannot grasp, the preorders were handled by dates, not by quantities. There were not '5000 preorders', there were all 'orders made before August 31st'.
Just an arbitrary date
There's that withering dismissal or 'arbitrary things' again.
It was a date that CB arbitrarily decided upon. I'm not sure how else you think they should determine the end of the preorder window, other than by deciding a date. Do you think they should have done it randomly? Flipped a coin each day and carried on flipping until tails came up, then instantly closed the preorders?
and a production number.
So companies are wrong to decide to make specific amounts of products, based on what they think they will sell? They should just set up an assembly line somewhere and keep on making them forever, and instruct all their subcontractors (rules book publishers, box makers, dice makers, etc etc) to do the same? So when they say double of the initial number of boxes, they mean 5000 more? Or do they mean double the number of boxes with CSU minis in them? I can't imagine they could put together that many more boxes in a few days-- unless they had all the components lying around, the box, books and terrain they could have printed quickly enough-- but the dice? I think it is more an assemble more boxes from what is lying around rather than a whole new set of 5000. But I could be wrong. I certainly was on my pre-order predictions. (and quite happy about that)
Pre-order conspiracy. Lol. So, it was Bostria on the grassy knoll?
Yojimbo is delayed because of this, too. :(
