I'd like to have the legs done as well but something with the design isn't sitting quite right with me. Before I get it printed I need to do some tinkering as I'd prefer to do something I'm completely happy with, opposed to simply saying "meh that works".

I agree with that approach, and I think it will have more success that way, too!

Love the mech heads, ordered some just the other day. The quality of your work is superb. I have your railguns and your mini guns and get asked about them all the time. Looking forward to your next batch of goodies.

Is there an ETA on those mecha arms and your full mech? I've been dying for some arms and rifles for my XV-8s and that mech you teases was awesome.

I sent the laser weapons and upper arm sections out to the printer so they should be coming in sometime in the next week, and I will hopefully have them available within the next two weeks.

The body and legs are still being worked on so I'm not sure when those will be ready.

I do have several 28mm infantry heads on the workbench which I'll post pictures of shortly.

Any news on the Robotech front? Those mechs are just way to tasty to pass up, like I said before give me inbit and mospeada's and I will give you whatever body parts you require.

Any word on that mech-style rifle you designed previously but didn't produce for sale?

What happened with robotech... it didn't come out with enough detail, or was it a business decision unrelated to quality, etc?

Liscensing snag primarily.

They don't want use any small fish, they normally deal with massive toy companies like Hasbro.

Just a heads up to everyone there's only two days left to get any orders in for the sale pricing.

Also the robotech stuff isn't 100% dead yet, I'll be making an appeal higher up in the chain, I'm not expecting much sucess but still trying. The facebook page is being moved to www.facebook.com/macrossminiatures as I'll likely be dealing with the parent Japanese companies at this point. (and it goes by Macross outside the US)

Just wanted to take a second and say that the stuff I ordered from Paulson was excellently cast and at a hell of a good rate. I bought some of the shields for custom storm shields and they are sweet! Turn around wasn't to bad either, bout 2 weeks total from me hitting submit to it showing up at my house.

I'm from the future. The future of space

Those new guns could work as space ship miniatures without any modification. Just stick em on a flight base. Fighters fly out of the launch bays on the front.

I love all the 54mm mecha guns.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

I hadn't thought of that but you're perfectly right, I'd probably add a set of engines on the side but they do have a certain space ship type look to them. Might tweak the model a bit and make some starship scale stuff as it'd be a fun change of pace to work on.

--------------------

I have some new stuff coming up shortly

Samurai style sashimono banners. All four versions will be available in two sizes 28mm infantry & a larger ogre sized version scaled for 40-60mm stuff.

WIP model for a UFO like thingy with guns. (i've been playing entirely too much Xcom lately)

Weapons aren't final but a rough idea of what I'm thinking. Will be around 30mm long and will mount on a flying stand.

I'm aiming to have these headed off to printing on monday with the goal of having the first casts ready by the end of the month.

I like the back banners but I'm not sure I'd use them as my Tau don't have a samurai theme. The not-sniper drones are fun and I'll definitely pick some up.

Wishlist:

Hand-held, modular rifle for crisis suits...modular meaning that the end of the rifle could be swapped depending on the loadout (plasma, fusion, etc.) without having to remove the whole rifle from the model.

Hands. Obviously, if you're going to have a held rifle, the suit is going to need hands. Power fists have worked in the past but it would be nice to have purpose built bits.

Alternate not-railgun and not-ion cannon for not-hammerheads. Upscaled versions of the rail gun (long version) and beam gun (medium version) that you already make would be perfect.

P.S. Got the mecha heads and beam guns...great casts...can't wait to use 'em.

Edit: Any chance of seeing some of the weapons you mentioned previously (sorry for the small pic)?

New parts are finally in & currently available on pre-order.

Pre-orders should ship around Oct 30th.

Sale pricing on my older items will end on the 20th so if you want them at the reduced price act soon.

(Infantry sized versions of the banners will be available around the end of Nov, they will be cast in metal for better strength).

Onto the pics!

Yes the rifles pictured above are scaled for mecha.

I also have ones scaled for 28mm infantry on my website, same design just smaller.

Here's a side by side shot

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Here's some shots of them on an assortment of robots for sense of scale.

Infantry scale rifle on CBT scale mini: (works equally as well on 28mm models)

Mech scaled stuff on some N Scale Mecha: ( I label it "54mm scale mecha" although most are a tiny bit larger)

I'm going to be taking an extended break from casting.

I've accepted the posistion of lead designer for another company. Until their product line is up and running I won't have time to maintain my personal business. As a result my website & store will be going off line for about 6-7 months.

It's a big move and one that I'm very excited about. I'll reveal more information when I can. (it involves some awesome mech designs)

I'll continue taking and filling orders until Nov 10th, so if you need any parts make sure to get orders in ASAP.

After that point I don't expect to do any casting until next summer

Congratulations on your new job!
the quality of work in your store started from a high quality level and you've raised the bar several times! I would love to know what group you're going to work for so I can keep an eye out for it!

I just made a sizable order of rifles and now will be getting more ifg you're closing down shop.

Is the gun drone design going tor each your webstore before you close up for the winter? I would love to buy up some of them!!

(poop, I came on here to request you make a 54mm Mecha lower leg/feet that could be used with certain Magor game company battlesuits. I've never like d the avian quality of the those suits and you'd be prime for the task!)

Thanks for the comments

I'm always self critical of my work and like to keep improving wherever I can.

The UFO ships won't be available until I re-open the site and they'll probably be redesigned a bit by then as I'm still toying with the weapons.

I think I've hit a new personal level on the rifle designs, I've had the concept floating around since I started up but my modelling skills weren't as strong then and I needed to find the right printer capable of the finer details. Between the mechs I was doing for Robotech and the rifles I feel like I turned a very good corner on how I will be modelling new designs in the future.

When I re-open I think I may be putting up revised & updated versions of a lot of my olders sculpts. (railguns and missile launchers) At this point I can add a lot more to the designs but I still enjoy the original weapon profiles so I'll aim for the best of both.

Another possible change for future stuff is doing some items in metal, it cuts down the amount of time I need to spend doing the casting and also lets me do smaller parts that are too fragile in resin. The larger stuff (like mech parts) will stay in resin but small items like the infantry weapons will likely go metal and hopefully I can drop their costs slightly.

I'll definately let people know about my new project when I'm able, it has me very excited about the modelling as it'll be a bit of a challenge but one I'm looking forward to.
