Yeah all the characters interesting and the plot is kind of awesome.
And it is mostly a girl cast. Which is kind of interesting.
This is one of the few animes where there is actually very few fan service. IT actually makes sense O.O
Otherwise the characters are kind of awesome.
Apparently the back-story is from the japan only visual novel 428: Fūsa Sareta Shibuya de. As far as I can tell, the game is Maria's trauma causer.
I had a feeling about that. I haven't heard of it. Till now. But I don't think we need to go into details about it.
Though the Lesbian relationship between Maria and Canaan is just a fan tease by the looks of it :/ (damn you anime! it would of been awesome)
It's something I have not been able to figure out even after finishing the show (multiple times).
Spoiler:
Maria and Canaan are obviously very close, and neither of them seem to have any relationships other than that. Even if they don't love each-other like partners, they love each other like sisters. Probably one of the best relationships I've ever seen in a anime.
They are quite touchy then XD
I can see that Canaan is the younger one while Maria seems to be older.
The two are quite much like that. But I agree it is a fantastic relationship.
(just finished it)
Wow that was extremely sad. :(
Okay that was probably one of the best animes i've watched in years.
Dang it I thought it was a yuri relationship

Subject: Re:what anime have you recently watched? It's
It never quite allows you to be sure does it.
My personal theory is
Spoiler:
that Canaan did not stay with Maria to protect her. Canaan is special and dangerous, and is always going to be of interest of dangerous people. Anyone of whom might use Maria to get at Canaan, just as they did during the anime.
Yeah, I got rather attached to the characters, and I cried when I finished it.
And I love Maria and Canaan (and the ever put upon Minoru Minorikawa), but my favorite character has to be the fething taxi driver. Just that fething taxi driver. It's impossible not to love him.
If any anime deserves more recognition it is this one. It ends nicely, well written, but I will always wish for more.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
Maria and Canaan are an intersting pair, Canaan seems to have never really had childhood, always the maturity of an adult, Maria is forever a child, innocent, loving (and loveable), excitable and trusting.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I was actually just looking at the TV tropes chatcter page and found a little nugget in Truma-induced amnesia
Spoiler:
" In the Shibuya game, she was forcibly infected with the UA virus and, as a side effect of the experience, she can't fully remember what went on back then... like when she met Alphard."

I am pretty sure Canaan Does love Maria but Canaan doesn't really know how to express. To me it screamed these two are adorable together. I mean I could see them being sisters. But maybe its because I like those relationships on Television.
The Main cast was great,
The English Dub was probably one of the best I've heard in years.
The only bad thing about the show is there isn't another season :/
Canaan and Maria were a great duo. And I agree it was probably one of the best relationships in Anime. As this literally bleeds a strong relationship and one that I would of liked to see explored more.
I mean I didn't cry at all, but I got teary eyed about it.
It was a great ending for a great show. Though at least half the cast do not get a good ending at all.
Spoiler:
I.E Hirzao the woman who can't speak, and the former CIA guy died together, but she was having sex with his dead corpse. Which was just creepy as all hell
And yeah I didn't heart about it till I saw it on a list. And just clicked on it and started to watch it.
Damn it was probably better than Full Metal Alchemist. And that is saying something.
This felt like Ghost In a Shell, but with human beings.
Canaan felt extremely real, so did maria, and the entire cast. The only who didn't was Lin Quang who for a lack of a better term
Spoiler:
Was fan service, but damn the way she went out was enough for me to take my word back, what a horrible way to die. Especially by the hands of the man that loved her. :/ Feth Me this anime went into dark territory in the end.
This is probably one of the best action animes I've seen in a while. Apart from the Disappearance of Hirzuahi Suzarmi (or how ever you spell it).
Spoiler:
Canaan is probably one of my favorite protagonists in Anime ever because she is conflicted and she grows. Her character arc is interesting and she grows up by the end of the show. Going from a cold killer to one who respects people. She is more confident and more inspiring. And damn she looks great in a ponytail.
I mean before she was just heartless but now. She is quite normal. She grew up. But the part that got me was that she let go of Maria, but always kept her in her heart.
I am extremely sad I won't see another Season of this show. It just echoes to me the female version of cowboy Bebop.
I loved it. It was probably one of my favorites. And one I really want to own on DVD, because it is probably one of the few that I would like to see more of. Sort of like Black Lagoon, but the main character is actually highly likable and highly intelligent and you understand the things she goes through.

From whom are unforgiven we bring the mercy of war.
I might be the only one here that wasn't interested in Canaan. We watched 1 episode at an anime club I was in to see if anyone was interested and not many were.

Well matters which episode. Its not the next coming of christ, but I liked it. The first episode is probably where you have to start it. It is a constant plot line. Not the next bad guy after another it is basically linear plot line. So If you just randomly pick out an episode odds are you aren't going to like it XD
But it was a good anime. It was a nice surprise. I came in with little expectations.
Now I need to look for new anime.

From whom are unforgiven we bring the mercy of war.
Re-watching Nanoha StrikerS, and attempting to get a friend into Nanoha in general, starting with the first eps of the first season.
I forgot how much of a Magical Girl show it started out as. And the animation quality is all over the place- going from cutouts moving around on a background screen to super-fluid frame-by-frame stuff, all in a couple episodes. I wonder if there were different animation houses involved in the early days?
GENERATION 8: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.
If yer an Ork, why dont ya WAAAGH!!

From whom are unforgiven we bring the mercy of war.
Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha- one of the best Gundam series that has no robots in it.
AKA, the manliest Magical Girl anime out there. Or at least, least embarrassing to watch.
There's three (four?) series- the original MSLR, the second season/series, which was called A's (pronounced "Ace"), and a third season/series called StrikerS (why is the last letter also capitalized? I have no idea.)
Features lasers, lightning scythes, magic chains, transformation sequences, intense midair battles, drill-rocket-hammers, and more Instant-Runes than you can shake a (magic)stick at.

Interesting!
I just decided to buy Steins: Gate and Canaan. the only anime I will buy until I get a more steady income.
From whom are unforgiven we bring the mercy of war.
Steins;Gate is what brought me back to the wonderful world of anime. Devoured the entire show in 2 nights I think.
Welp, I have resumed watching Another. It scares the gak outta me.
First 2 episodes, the ones I watched before are all quiet but full of mystery. Nothing happens.
Suddenly, a most gruesome death that makes me flinch.
Next episode I learn about the curse.
And now I am always in this weird tense state when I watch it, always wondering who's gonna die and how and why. If I see something remotely lethal in the background I'm staring at it thinking if this is gonna be it. feth, I'm not good with horror movies, this anime is reminding me of one.

Its definitely not typical time travel.
Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines
Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.
Yeah its not typical. Its based on several theories of time travel.

It is both a video game and an anime. But the Anime was rewritten by the original creator of Steins;Gate.
Its definately a watch.
Be warned it is very mature. The main female character you will learn to hate and love her pervertedness.

How in hell can anyone hate her pervertedness?
Hell, she even does a "Yo dawg, we heard you like X ... " meme! I was stunned just like the rest of the cast and then laughing my ass off.

I remember her saying quite a few things. I didn't expect.
They did a yolo joke even. I mean damn. I was expecting half of the jokes to be funny.
She is one of the few redheads in anime that I know of that is extremely intelligent and extremely pervy.
I love her as a character. I wish we had more them.
Plus one of my most favorite openings ever.
Jesus!

Ah so stoked for the preview for the next episode of Akame Ga Kill (EP 24)
Spoiler:
Akame vs Esdeath! Although I personally liked Akame's sister as a character much more
I'm a little behind on the other currently airing series. I managed to squeeze in a marathon of Angel Beats with my roommates in between finals though...Best worst decision of my life
Still need to watch this Steins Gate everyone talks about.
I always wanted to watch it too.
Anybody else here see a bit of seitokai no ichizon? I enjoyed what i saw of that anime. First season all the girls hate him and in the 2nd they love him. The anime is meant to make fun of harems but sorta is one. It's kind of weird one of the girls fantasizes him in her yaoi and another is manipulative and throws out ideas of bondage on him. Chizuru is one of my favorites even if i don't like her manipulative side. She just throws out all the right sexiness. This always feels awkward though considering they're still in freaking high school. Jeez anime stop trying to turn me into a semi-pedo. It's anime though and ages are weird in anime (grown adults that are children and children that are adults) esp. with girl maturity and bust so i think it's not totally my fault.

There, there FKM. If you are feeling that way with the high school anime, pray you don't fall to the Loli dark side

If it makes you feel any better all the characters in Stein's Gate with the exception of two are over 18.
And don't worry that happens in most Harem Animes, all the girls are younger than the main protagonist.
I mean its not like its unusual to fall in love with the characters.
High school animes do that too. Try to watch the Disappearance of Haurhi Suzayama and not love one of the most adorable characters. (Yet she's only 16?!?!?)
Also Sailor moon all the girls are in 15 or 14 years old. Yet they look like college girls.
