While I do like the look of the bike and really wanted to make a squad of them about 5 years ago, I'd be hesitant to do so now. Getting rid of rough riders from the rumored upcoming codex is a realistic probability seeing as how they don't sell Attilans on the GW website anymore. I don't have any "insider knowledge" but rather am making an educated guess based on the removal of units from the Nid codex that didn't have models to sell.

this would be a first though, to remove a unit that has had rules and models for decades (since Rogue Trader, even), with no really clear "counts as" possibility.

Bike is super cool, but needs to come with a variety of legs to fit it, and maybe arms too - both are painfully difficult to convert, as I know from previous personal experience trying to convert an ork biker squad a while back...

You mean like they did with the griffon?

I used mine as a basilisk, which was IMO a pretty clear counts as. They also kept the rules in the IA books.

I see your point, but I struggle to think of any comparable way to get any use out of Rough Rider models.

Oh, I"m not worried about it. I haven't used rough riders since 4th edition. No area terrain hurt them hard, and no charging from reserves was the death blow.

I have, literally, 13,000 points of IG. I have plenty to play with regardless of the new codex.

And the removal of them a model that hasn't recieved an update in 20 years and is no longer offered for sale (a much less safe bet than the griffon was since it was as modern as any other IG tank kit and available for sale right before getting erased) doesn't change their presence in the IA books. Again.. this is just my educated guess but if we don't start hearing rumors of a plastic kit for the unit coming very soon after the codex then I'd expect them to be relegated to IA FW ally status. Much like your griffon doubled as a basilisk, your attilans suddenly sprout bionics and double as DKK. Buying bikes as a counts as for a unit that is no longer sold by GW is a risky purchase IMO until they're confirmed in the upcoming codex. YMMV. I'd have killed for a resin kit like this a few years ago and still have dozens of pics from online searches about converting them but I wouldn't do it today until I saw them in the codex.

Are these guns still on the way Vic? Those Arcadians are incredible, I just like the look of this style of lasgun for the Arcadians. Either way I'm already setting back money for a few squads. Other than my personal preference for the other kind of rifle, these models are perfect. Some of your best work by far!

The sarge in particular looks great. He really brings to mind some of the character that those old Guard models had. *Also just noticed the second guy from the right has what looks like a pack of cigarettes stuck in the band of his helmet, that's a pretty awesome one too!.

Vic wrote:Hi, thanks for all the feedback on the concept sketch. I have been working with the ever patient Jake Schneider on this new Las Gun. It will have a sight and bayonet option and we are working on a shorter variant with a folded stock. Also, up and coming is an auto gun version and a digital sculpt of the Plasma Gun sketch previewed recently.
Cheers, V

Awesome! Can't wait to see how they look with some arms attached.

I've gotta say, I like the look of all of them. The plasma pistol looks a little weedy, but then again it's actually able to be held in one hand unlike how most GW plasma pistols are. Some of those things are the size of a toaster oven

I would like to see a left hand for the option to use your weapons with other arms. I am looking forward to the female arcadian squad. The plasma pistol looks actual size for IG. I really like the look of the knife.

He's had bikes and Heavy Weapons out for some time now (I have them) but more choices are always good. My squad of Curious Constructs bikes uses Vic's resin pith helmet with goggles heads. You cam mix and match to your heart's content.

Vic, here's a request which should be easy for you: Arcadian arms with carbines. I'm a fan of shorter rifles. They would be awesome!

Alright, so there are rumours of them striking the rough riders from the 'dex. There's also rumours about a plastic rough riders kit, so really, your guess is as good as mine.

At the risk of sounding snarky... if by "Didn't Gravis already offer up nearly identical bikes about 6 months ago?" you mean "has two wheels", then yes. Then again, that also means a Vespa is the same as a Harley, and a BMW is a Yamaha.

In regards to the left/right question - Victoria and I already have something planned to address this. (And by "Victoria and I", I mean, she told me to deal with it and I am in the process of complying).

I'll try being nicer if you'll try being smarter.

To add my 2 pence on that particular topic (actually my bikes have been out for about a year now) as with the Heavy Weapons question I completely agree that more choice is only a good thing, both for the individual hobbiest and for 'the industry'. It means more options for us as hobbiests, and continues to drive improvements in whats available - I'll certainly be revisiting my own bikes in the future. In terms of aesthetics, well we're all working from similar themes, similarities are unavoidable (I also know Jake went to some lengths to avoid too many similarities), and finally its always worth noting I was'nt the first to offer Guard appropriate Bikes either, there are at least a couple of other offerings at least out there as well if you look at other similar businesses.

Now I don't know if thats a common view for everyone in the said industry, but it is mine (though I'd not go as far as to put myself in the same league as the likes of Vic), and thats while you'll find from the outset when Vic first dropped her Victorian Roughriders they appeared on my blog popular Praetorian IG blog alongside my own offerings. Certainly I've had plenty of communications with Vic in the past, right down to recommending Jake to her in fact. I've similar links and communications with the likes of Mad Robot, Zinge Industries, Anvil and others. In my mind its how things work.

Anyway, as I've said to Jake before, very nice work, and further more can't wait to see more of Vic's Arcadians!

I totally agree with Col Gravis you will always find similarities but there will always be variations as well, I have some of the Col Gravis bikes they are great and I will be getting some more in the future also I will be purchasing some of Vics bikes.

There are several companies with similar lines this cant be helped, but that also gives options which is greatly appreciated and needed.

Those Arcadians and weapons look pretty swell, though I must admit, I'm likely to hold out for the more "modern" weapons. The more anachronistic lasrifles, while perfect for the other regiments, looks somewhat out of place here.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.
