Is there an easy way to convert those not-Pulse Rifles into M41a Pulse Rifles? Cut the stock off, maybe the front flash suppressor...

Any chance of the bodies having shoulder lamps?

Mad Robot, you need to get a UK supplier for these awesome bits.I went to order a load of heads but the international shipping cost put me off.You are doing some really cool things though.

Since they are in resin, it should be easy enough to carefully cut the tip off. I am considering a shoulder light for the torso, still haven't got to finishing it yet.

@shingouki: I'm sorry to hear that, I can't do much about the shipping costs, I wish I could.

Thanks for the feedback on the arms, still like to hear from as many as possible

Sorry about the delay on the new items, Chicago is in a state of weather flux right now. Two new items this weekend!

I need feedback on a set of arms. Given that there are 5 possible poses, would you want:

A) 5 arms with rifles
B) 4 arms with rifles and one set with sidearm and close combat weapon?

New arms are being sculpted and I'd like some immediate input from you guys.

Thanks,
Steve

Would go for B. As it seems commercially the more usual option.
But including the ideas of Nerdfest, as i think that people might look for more variation in their miniatures poses and not for the same they find more commonly.

If you need reference material, I can send shots of my set of colonial marine armor

@judgedoug: Every little bit helps. You can post them here or send them to projects @ madrobotminiatures .com

Seems like the logical way to go on the arms is choice b. I figured as much but thought I'd throw it out there to see what people thought.

Here's a couple pics of me and a lady friend: http://s17.beta.photobucket.com/user/judgedoug/library/USCMpics

I can provide more accurate shots of the armor, shoulder lamp, helmet, pulse rifle, grenades, boots, patches, etc if necessary. I do not have a motion tracker or welder.

I may be the wierdo here, but I'd actually pay an extra few cents for a set to have five sets of weapon arms AND a set of close combat weapon arms. I would honesty rather pay a little bit more and get all I need than to be shorted and end up having to get another set. For example, if you were to, in the future, release a mixed set of heads, I'd think five helmets and one patrol cap would be the best mix. Or if you do a boxed set of Colonial Guard, make it ten infantry AND one heavy weapons team, allowing me to swap in and out, rather than be painted into the corner of having to use what you give me. Again, I may be alone on this, and maybe you aren't able, based off your current setup to do six sets on a single sprue, but that would probably be optimum.

Additionally, the pule rifles seem to have a large grey piece of chewing gum with a thumbprint on the side of them. I'd fire your mold maker.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
By the way, a set of plastic Colonial Whatever would probably sell like hot cakes. Not alot of (reasonably priced) competition there and I'd figure there's plenty of demand.

@noneoftheabove0: You make a good point, perhaps I'll reconsider that.

More colonial stuff is certainly a possibility. I need to take it slow, build things up, but probably not plastic...just resin or metal.

I can't take all the credit, Spatcave studios manufactured the armor (Spatcave also makes Imperial Guard Cadian armor http://www.spatcave.com/40kcostume.htm)
I had the BDU's custom made in china... had to assemble and paint the pulse rifle... Matsucorp custom made the shoulder lamp... it was an expensive project

I too think that plastic not-USCM colonial marines would sell like hotcakes. Have you thought about running a Kickstarter to fund a plastic set of them? I have no doubt in my mind you'd get the funds to do it in a day or two. Sorta like what Defiance was trying to do, except, well, you could do it way better.

I appreciate the kind words, Kickstarters of that ilk are quite a bit to manage. You may see a KS in the summer for something, for right now I can keep up this pace of releases and stay flexible with what I want to add into the mix as new ideas arise.

Honestly, I don't understand why everyone gets upset with the plastic/resin debate. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of metal, it's kind of a pain in the kiester to work with, but plastic and resin are equally easy. Unless you have bought stock in plastic glue, there is no real reason to have an opinion between the two. Pardon me for putting plastic when I intended non-metal.

Thats because most people are asking small independent miniature companies to produce plastic kits which have a large outlay and is time consuming, you have to remember these companies are just starting out ( at most a one man band 2 at most ) plus have a full time jobs as well as family and every day life.

Larger companies have the funds and structure to take this on, however I know Dreamforge have tried it with a Kickstarter (as I pledged plenty of my cash into it ) and so far seems to be proceeding ok from the updates I have seen so far, however I will know for sure once I receive my items and have the final product in my hand.

However it does seem some Kickstarters have run into issues so some people might get a little hesitant with funding, I think Steve is doing a great job so far and is trying to establish himself in a growing market and so far is doing it well.

Hopefully it will expand into plastic someday but running before walking is just not feasible.

Plastic glue does not work on resin either

What I was trying to convey is that resin is perfectly fine. People demanding the more costly and complicated plastic sprues of small companies is insane. Resin allows them to do things with more narrow appeal, which are the kind of bits we all want.

OK, I'm sold on the pulse rifles. And some of the heads. And you don't play games with the shipping - $2.00 USD? Sweet.

That brings me to something I discovered while browsing the site: there is a functionality issue with the way the shopping cart works on the site. After adding items to the cart, and then looking at other things, there is no way to get back to it your cart to check out, anywhere. The only way i can see to get back to the cart is to add something else, and then remove it. You need to check the Zen Cart shopping card sidebox properties and see what it's set to - are you suppressing this, or setting it to only show when a visitor is logged in? If it's the latter, as a design decision, it's a turnoff to new customers - no reason to put artificial roadblocks to them buying your stuff. If it's the much-more-likely-situation that it was just configured that way out of your site hosts's cpanel, you should dig into it to change it.

Also, that big top banner should be hyperlinked to go back home, even thought there is a breadcrumb trail. Less essential than the first thing though.

Those pulse rifles are sweet, btw.

Damn, those are nice.. I'll be buying a bunch of stuff when those pulse rifles come out.

Since you're doing a good few head-variants that are compatible with IG, is there any chance of getting some modern styles? PAGST and newer?

PAGST

Added permanent cart, still working on clickable banner, thanks for the heads up!

@scipio.au/miniholic: lone dirty dog jumped the gun a little, but there will be a Mega Modern release in March, including PAGST style helmets, DEVGRU heads with 2 & 4 lens IR, Kevlar torsos, and desert operator heads.

Yup, I really like that. I have been looking for something more modern/SF/SWAT as opposed to yet more pseudo WW2 Germans.

And good job calling it DEVGRU instead of Seal Team 6. ST6 hasn't existed since the 80s!
