I think handwaving anatomical issues away as "they are space Ogres...so they look like burly humans with specifically incorrect forearm anatomy" is a bit lazy. It's obviously a lack of knowledge on the part of the sculptor and not a design choice.

Please don't make assumptions about the design process. It is what it is, sorry it doesn't suit you

As someone who actually does design.. the "choice" on the forearm is likely from re-posing the model in Zbrush (transpose tool).. which results in that kind of distortion. It became apparent a while back that you were working from master files and just modifying them to fit what you're doing, which makes sense. It doesn't make sense to just make excuses for it though when it creates obvious visual flaws. I haven't said anything about the pinches on the arms for regular infantry model because of the methods used but it's the same thing.

I have to ask.. are you modeling this stuff.. or commissioning it, or using someone's 3d models without their consent? It's kinda obvious it's not the first choice... so..

Just a bit of advice before I add you to my "ignore" list.
Maybe you should be more respectful of others and their efforts ie: don't trash someone and/or their product in their own thread just because you "think" you can do better.
Such arrogance.

Wow, lots of vitriol there...I wish you the best and I hope you get the help you need

So, these are pretty disappointing responses to what is really pretty constructive criticism from actual and potential customers.

If you don't share your process then I'll make any assumptions that I like based on my knowledge and experience.

You should have the confidence in your designs to explain them without implying that people are mentally ill for questioning them.

I don't think any vitriol was intended although the approach could have been much more courteous. Perhaps this is a good opportunity to start again.

I like the sculpts, they have a very heavy weight to them which says ogres to me, not human. I'm sure once they are shown towering over the standard infantry it'll be even more apparent.

Human anatomy is funny, every individual is unique and sometimes people have muscles that just don't fit the expected mold, particularly if drugs or genetic mutations/modifications are involved. Ever hear of Greg Valentino? There's not much I'd consider "normal" about his muscles structure as it's fueled by insane amounts of 'roids, but point and case is he's real (and really freaky).

The ogre is holding his knife in a reverse grip/overhand position with his arm bent at the elbow, I'm hardly ripped by anyone's standards and when I hold something like that it causes my forearm muscles to noticeably knot up, so it's not too far off.

Steve has his own style which I highly enjoy, it may not be for everyone but one thing is for certain it beats any of the "amazing" muscle anatomy displayed on GW's Ogres or Catachans. Given that those are a base line for most players I'm not seeing much of a reason for complaining about Steve's stuff.

Is there any way I can get an apology for being chastised? I mean, now that the guy I essentially called a jerk is acting like a jerk?

It's an ugly planet. A bug planet.

Yes, please.

You can discuss the design and disagree on that without resorting to name-calling! It will be much more productive that way, for all involved... thanks.

I only have two wishes for these particular dudes.
1)rifles with chainsaw bayonets
2)that there be an alternate arm set with arm guards similar to the ones on their legs.

Now, if you wanted to make some fully armored not-COGS later.... I certainly wouldn't be one to complain.

Well, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed on the first part but if I make CC arms, the second part shouldn't be a problem.

I think that last part will happen too

If that's the case, then I think it'll be hard for me to be disappointed.

I'm surprised that we haven't had an update here (and that nobody else has posted these). Mad Robot apparently has received the first prints of their Jovian Hammers.

Looks like Gung-Ho, Sgt. Savage, and Marcus Fenix. I like 'em. Can't wait to see the armored up (not-COGS) versions.

I like the direction you took them in. Reminds me of Thorndyke and his crew from the Lensman series.

Definitely interested in seeing at least concepts for armoured variants. I do like the styling of the lower leg and knees so something to match say the CDF type torso and shoulders...?

I like these a lot! The different headgear on them gives me a nice nostalgic feel for the Rogue Trader Ogryn models. While the guns are smaller than the GW ogryn models, they appear to be as long as a standard infantry model is tall, which would mean they are essentially using a 50 caliber machine gun as an infantry weapon. That's hardly underwhelming.
