I love all the new orb stuff. I hated the plastic rods. When they first came out I thought they were really cool. Then as you played games, they would pop out, sometimes with bad glue application they would haze up etc etc.

I will be using 3 - 4 lords in the final army and want each one to have a different look. This was all I could really greenstuff with my current skill level. I wanted to also be able to use him as an Overlord.

The Beads/Orbs on wrist and neck were kind of meant to be a ressurection artifact. Maybe a Phylactary / Rez Orb in one.

I appreciate your opinion and comments as always though Rimmy.

I just hope that the masses dont think its too goofey looking because I hope to be able to use him in a tournament WYSIWYG with a rez orb.

to hell with the masses. if you're plased with them and like the look, thats all that really matters.

I have a pretty sizeable Necron army as well and I loved the glow rods. the trick was to attach them with PVA and not superglue.

Hot damn those are some really nice Necrons... I really love the blue ones. And the red HQs are hot too.

Ah pva was the trick. For my red lord at the top i actually pinned it in lol. Wish you were around with the pva trick 15 yrs ago. My rods looked like they had been in a freezer with all the hazing.

Thanks as well thunderbunny and langston for the nice comments. I was happy with the blue as well. Took me a lot of tries. I wanted it to look like a saphire.

Just finished Anrakyr. Spent more time on him than anything before. I posted a thread when I was building him about the tachyon arrow on his wrist. Hope you all enjoy :-)

very nice.

something to make the gold pop a little bit, hit it with a light drybrushing of mithril silver (or whatever they call it now) then a light wash with sepia. really pops.

There is a little bit of mithril on the gold. Maybe not enough though. I think my crappy photography oversaturates it a bit and it gets lost in the shine. I'm looking up tutorials on making a light box. Hopefully that will help a lot.

Thanks again Rimmy for your continued advice and comments. Helps keep me motivated. I see the number of miniatures I have left to paint and the little rain clouds appear. My neighbor just gave me a bunch of Dark Eldar. I'm going to try to sell them once painted. Hoping by then I can apply ''to a tabletop'' standard to them to increase sell potential.

Thank you silverback. After doing some research into previous codexs' I dont think they will release an official model for Anrakyr anytime soon. Much like Duke Sliscus I think they left him ouy of the release to encourage individuality. I hope this does him a little justice. I dont really care for his orb crown head but it is all I had. I think I can ay least use him and an overlord with orb if needs be.

How did you do the tachyon arrow?

Hi Hammer, the tachyon arrow was made by cutting the tip off of a dark eldar shredder and filing the bottom down. It looked close enough to the codex picture. The arm was the one supplied with the command barge lord. I just cut it and pinned it straight.

All right thank you. I might have to steal that idea. Great painting so far btw.

Thank you Hammer18. Appreciate the compliment!

I was looking at another post here for a Dakka user called Bad-Sam.

Our painting styles are totally different but I am hoping in time to have the following he does. I just can't paint quickly. Each model takes minimum 2 to 3 hours assembly included (Necron warriors for example). I spent about 25 hours on my Anrakyr model. I might buy some basic marines and practice speed painting on them. With my necron warriors the guns took more time to paint than the rest of the mini.

A local guy at the shop was talking smack on me a bit stating that necrons are supposed to have a worn and weathered look and not all clean and shiny like mine. I tried to explain it fluff wise perhaps that the stasis fields preserving them never malfunctioned. He didnt buy it. Guess theres always a critic. He told me to start Eldar. Said I could make them as new and shiny as I want and it would look good. I bought a box of Dark Eldar Incub. Ii will give them a go here soon.

As Rimmy said, "to hell with the masses". I guess I just still take all comments to the heart

This doesn't sound like a very intelligent person. Your minis equals your painting scheme.

But anyway, you paint them good and it doesn't really matter how long. I tend to spread my painting out over days so you've got me beat on time.

YOUR Necrons are YOUR Necrons. why do they have to be weathered? maybe their tombworld was well kept? maybe the systems weren't damaged and everything is new looking. that dudes an idiot. i'd buy ot.

keep painting for you boss, i think your paint is great.

Not sure how I feel about all the balls in the new crons. Seems to me like gw went a little overboard with them. That being said, the lord looks fine without the necklace. But that's just Mr personal opinion.

Balls are the new Skulls. Skulls are soooo 39k.

On the painting - nice work - the red & gold really look good, particularly as a large unit.

Thank you very much TameYeti and StyleXHoby.

I appreciate it!

Im hoping to soon do some tau in an urban or desert theme after the necron are all done. I hope I can do them justice. Tau seem much more challenging to paint.

It's folk like this that give gamers and hobbyists a bad name. Paint your stuff the way you like it. If you come up with fluff that you dig to explain why you have an army setup or painted a specific way, that's awesome. It's too bad that this individual can only accept lore that is written in a book. This whole hobby is about imagination. We all love the lore around this theme, but it's the people that get involved with the hobby that bring it to life. There will always be haters, and they probably hate a lot. They are totally worth ignoring, something else that they'll hate. Keep on painting what you like. Personally, I think your figures look great.
